IT WAS OCTOBER 1982. I recall sitting on the edge of my seat in the Juliet Theater in Poughkeepsie, New York. Next to me was my dad, who watched while chain-smoking a full pack of Salems—impressive because First Blood had a scant 93-minute run time—as we rooted for Rambo to survive the onslaught of firepower from mean folks who hadn’t a clue what this Green Beret was capable of. John Rambo—the ultimate survivalist. (Check out: Survival Knives: Anatomy of the Blade Rambo Made Famous)

June-July 2022 Ballistic Magazine

My pals and I spent the rest of the fall acting out scenes in the woods, using pocketknives, of course. We weren’t quite ready to step up to the Bowie plate. We crafted spears and traps (never caught jack), and climbed through boulder fields and Laurel-laden hillsides hiding and avoiding being hit with BBs from our war-scarred 10-pump Crosmans. Stupid, I know, but we had a 3-pump maximum and wore goggles. Mud balls and pies were our versions of hand grenades. Man, we were the shit—or at least we thought so. Playing Manhunt with neighborhood kids (boys and girls) still ranks at the top of the fun list. Playing Army is a close second.

1985-1986:

We stepped up our game with hand-me-down .22s for squirrel and crow popping. Like Rambo, we knew we could survive off the land. And believe it or not, the NYS Conservation Department used to release pheasants on a neighboring property to our high school. On school days when we knew we were going to try to luck into a leftover bird or two, our 20 gauges sat in our pickup truck gun racks in the school parking lot. After the final bell it was “go” time. The trucks remained as we marched into the woods just past the baseball field loaded for bird.

1987:

Fact: Bringing guns to school was actually permitted, at least in this case… My buddy John Lucas—he was a big ’un and we nicknamed him Johnny Rambo—and I did an oral report together for Mr. Dourdis’ Sports Literature class on sport- and deer hunting. We had to get permission from the principal (and we did) for the show-and-tell part of the project. I brought in my Remington 1100, and John brought in his Bear Archery “kit bow” he’d built with his dad. Man, we country kids knew how to impress the chicks back then.

Skillset now joins the lineup in multiple issues of Ballistic Magazine each year.
2022:

My how things have changed in society! Today, my son can’t even wear a ballcap or t-shirt to school that sports the likeness of a firearm. Zero-tolerance policies are brutal (unconstitutional IMHO). There’s a George Orwellian Nineteen Eighty-Four dystopian social science fiction eeriness afoot. We have gun and magazine bans, First Amendment rights stripped away and massive Big Brother overreach on a scale never witnessed before. Today’s law-abiding gun owners—parents at school board meetings even—are being labeled as domestic terrorists. That’s all change “We The People” don’t need. So let’s keep fighting the good fight when and where we can.

Those Rambo days seem so far way. We have some good change to bring your way, however. In this issue of Ballistic, we welcome our Skillset Mag editorial team led by Ben Tirpak, as well as their loyal subscribers to the mix. Once its own quarterly publication, Skillset will now run as a 32-page (sometimes more) special in five of the six annual issues of Ballistic. We look at this change as a highly positive one in that now, both Ballistic and Skillset fans will get more content. We’re certain that Ballistic readers will wholeheartedly enjoy the Alpha-edgy, educational and fun Skillset goods, while Skillset fans will still get what they know and love, and also receive a bonus of 130-plus pages of Ballistic goodness. Enjoy the issue, but know this…there will be blood!

A Major Prophetic Voice Is Warning That Food Confiscation Will Happen In America When Shortages Get Really Severe

What I am about to share with you is extremely alarming.  I was recently contacted by a major prophetic voice about a very unusual experience that this individual recently had, and we discussed what would be appropriate to share with the public.  Normally I never share anything from anonymous sources that is prophetic, but as you will see below this particular individual has good reasons for staying anonymous in this case.  What I can tell you is that I know this individual personally, and I can assure you that this prophetic voice has a strong track record of accuracy.

Needless to say, what this individual was shown lines up with the warnings that so many others have been given over the years.  Personally, I have been relentlessly warning that global famine is coming.  The good news is that right now our stores are still full of food and nobody in the United States is starving.  But there are sporadic shortages of various items, and those shortages are going to become more intense.

Meanwhile, things are becoming increasingly dire on the other side of the planet.  The head of the United Nations recently warned that we are moving into an “unprecedented global hunger crisis”, and people are starting to starve to death in large numbers in some parts of Africa.

Global supplies of food are getting tighter and tighter, and eventually shortages will get really severe even in the western world.

With all of that in mind, let me share exactly what was sent to me for publication on my websites by this major prophetic voice…

May 22, 2022 – Personal warning in a dream from G-d for what’s coming to the United States.

On May 22, 2022 I had a dream from the Lord. Throughout my life, the Lord has given me many prophetic dreams. I’ve always been an observer of the dream. This time it was different. I was in the dream.

It was a cool spring late afternoon. I was in the kitchen beginning to get an evening meal ready for 10. People were staying/living with my husband and me. I don’t know who the people were. I’m not sure if they were family, friends, neighbors, or who, but they were living with us. All of us were very tired, weary, we felt beaten down and the atmosphere was careful and solemn. We were all praying and our trust remained in the Lord. We were thankful for the fellowship of each other. Our circumstances were tough. The people staying/living here had all lost their homes for differing reasons. They had lost their homes from a wide variety of natural disasters. Some had lost their homes due to financially losing all of their investments, jobs, businesses, and their mortgagers foreclosed on their homes. Some even had to walk away from their homes, because the areas where they lived were no longer safe to stay there. They loaded what they could and got out with their lives.

We lived together and we all shared all of our resources, but our resources were few. The famine throughout the United States was beyond words to describe. Yet we felt blessed, because we all were at least still eating, and we had a few head of thin cattle in our field, and we had some hay in our barn to feed cattle during the cold months. . I don’t know if our business was still open or not. That wasn’t shown to me. Life was hard, and we were all discouraged.

There was a knock at our front door and when I went to the door there were 16 men from 3 large truck vehicles at the door. They all wore a drab green uniform. They were all armed with a military type assault rifle. The leader of the group was holding papers which he handed toward me and gestured me to take. I didn’t even look at the papers, I knew what they were. They were an official executive order for citizens to have anything they owned or had possession of to be turned over to the government immediately, upon demand. We had heard of this going on throughout the United States, but we had been praying we would be spared this legal form of theft. Now it was happening to us. We had heard of citizens who resisted relinquishing their supplies when needed by the government who were immediately shot. As a group we had pre-decided that if it happened to us, we wouldn’t resist. We would hope to live to continue to help each other. Everyone was separated. I was seated at the kitchen table. My husband was seated outside at a patio table, each of the other 8 in our group were separated and seated in different areas. We were all asked questions. Our home and our outbuildings were thoroughly searched for anything of value. Our sleeping bags were taken, our pantry and freezers I and refrigerators were emptied and 90% of all of our food was taken. The fuel from our fuel tanks were siphoned out. Between all of us we had no money. But any Jewlery found was taken. The leader of this government appointed group, asked me about the cattle in the field. I told him their ages, breed, and sex. He asked how long we could feed them with the hay we had. I told him, “for a few months.” He had a sat. phone and called for trucks that came and took ALL of our farming fuel, ALL of our fuel tanks were even loaded and taken. He said they would leave us 10% of the food they found, so we would have food left to eat to be able to feed the few head of cattle that we had. They left all of the hay for us to feed the cattle. He told me that they would return for the cattle once they were ready to slaughter. I looked deep in his eyes. He too looked exhausted. He was emotionless. He was empty and devoid of conscience. He was just doing his job of stealing and killing anyone who attempted to stop his government appointed group to legally steal. None of us were hurt or even touched. We were respectful to them, but not begging of them. We knew if we protested we would be shot point blank.

All in all, they were at our property loading three trucks with 90% of our food, and supplies for about 3 hours. When the leader called for a fuel truck that fuel truck arrived and drained our farm fuel into their big fuel truck. Our large tractor was taken. Our one ton pickup truck was taken. All tools were taken. Guns and ammunition was taken. Our livestock trailers were left. It was going to be a hardship to survive without our goods.

As they were leaving our driveway I heard a clear voice say, “March 2024!”

I don’t know if that is the date this dream will happen, or if that is the date this executive order will be put into place in the United States. Pray and see what the Lord shows you.

I think that the last sentence is great advice.

I would recommend taking this to prayer and asking the Lord for wisdom.

It is definitely very unusual for the Lord to give any sort of a specific date for anything.  For this particular individual, it was the very first time that a specific month had ever been given.

That doesn’t mean that the events described in this dream will happen during that month.

Ultimately, March 2024 could just be the beginning of a series of events that will eventually lead to this sort of confiscation.

We just don’t know.

Once again, I want to stress that I normally do not like to share anything prophetic that comes from anonymous sources.

But I am doing so in this case because I personally know the individual, and because I believe that there are valid security reasons for keeping the source anonymous.

I hope that all of you will take this warning very seriously, and I hope that all of you will adjust your preparations accordingly.

Things are starting to get really crazy out there, and I fully expect global events to accelerate even more during the second half of this year.

Germany Is Now In “Stage Two” Of Its Emergency Gas Plan

Because Germany is still refusing to pay for Russian natural gas imports in rubles as requested, the country now faces long-term supply shortages that threaten to cripple its economy. Germany has now implemented “stage two” of its emergency gas plan.

Germany’s emergency gas plan has three stages, and the country seems to be advancing rather rapidly through them as consequences of Western sanctions on Russia begin to manifest. It is all fun and games to talk a big game against Russia until you start to run out of your economy’s lifeblood. Economy Minister Robert Habeck announced that Germany will move to “stage two” of its emergency gas plan at the current time, which comes with an expectation that the country might run out of gas this upcoming winter, according to a report by Natural News.

“We mustn’t delude ourselves,” Habeck said in an English-translated statement about the issue. “Cutting gas supplies is an economic attack on us by Putin.”  This statement somehow reads like a veiled complaint and victimization by Russia. Unfortunately, this is how more countries get dragged into wars.

Habeck continued to stay that gas supplies over winter will be really tight if additional actions are not taken. “We defend ourselves against this,” Habeck went on to state in his English-translated speech. “But it will be a rocky road that we as a country now have to walk. Even if you don’t really feel it yet: we are in a gas crisis. This will affect industrial production and become a major burden for many consumers,” he says. “It’s an external shock.”

Other countries have gone back to using coal in order to avoid paying for natural gas in rubles.

Europe Makes Plans To Ration Natural Gas As It Switches Back To Coal

Government intervention is not required until phase three of Germany’s emergency gas plan, and the country says it is not quite there yet. But the nation soon could be, especially if market fundamentals no longer apply to the gas situation. The emergency gas plan states that alert level phases are triggered whenever there is a “disruption of gas supply or exceptionally high gas demand which results in significant deterioration of the gas supply situation … but the market is still able to manage that disruption or demand without the need to resort to non-market-based measures.”

In the interim, Germany is making plans to stockpile gas supplies while they play the victim.

2 Our Budget Pick

Vacuum Sealer Machine By Mueller

A Mueller Vacuum sealer preserves by blocking the growth of mold, fungus, and bacteria.

These are the things responsible for ruining food’s taste, appearance, and texture. And they can even cause acute illness as well.

The Mueller is made from durable ABS and features a high-powered suction element. And the heat sealing allows you to store your food in sturdy airtight bags.

Its stain-resistant housing will not absorb spills, and it’s straightforward to clean.

Also, you can use it to reseal wine, oil, or vinegar. You can also use it to preserve jewelry to keep it shiny and polished.

The one big complaint with this unit is the downtime required between sealing. This unit required a 40 second downtime between vacuum sealing. This limitation can slowdown your operations especially if you have a large batch of food to seal.

3

Moreover, the auto one-touch operation delivers a user-friendly experience.

Plus, this vacuum sealer is both lightweight AND compact.

My two biggest gripes with this vaccum sealers are:

  1. You lose a good inch of bag every time you seal / cut. This means over time, you end up paying for more bags…
  2. Customer service is not responsive for some…

4

It features easy-to-use manual operations to preserve a variety of foods.

Plus, it comes with an accessory hose, making it compatible with FoodSaver boxes.

For all the good ideas with this unit, it does have a couple of drawbacks, namely:

  1. The lid is so thick it leave a ton of space between the food and the seal. So you end up with the same amount of waste as other models, just on the other side of the seal.
  2. It’s very loud during the sealing process

5

GERYON Vacuum Sealer Machine

The Geryon Sealer removes air from specially designed bags. And its multilayer material heat seals to keep air out and prevent freezer burn. It reduces spoilage and food waste.

It comes with two modes to ensure your food has the best possible preservation.

Of course the biggest RISK with buying this unit is the quality control. Some folks have ended up with a lemon from day 1. And some units seem to burn out after only a short time of usage.

It’s cheaper vacuum sealers but that reduction in cost seems to come with some risk.

Vacuum Sealing Fish

What Is A Vaccum Sealer Anyway

Vacuum sealers work exactly how they sound. They vacuum the air out of a bag and then seal it.

This air removal process helps to compress and preserve the items stored inside the bag.

Why Everyone Should Own A Vaccum Sealer

Investment / Save Money

My favorite prepping purchases are ones that pay for themselves.

Did you know the average US household wastes an estimated 76 billion pounds of food per year! That’s an average waste per person of 238 pounds per year (21 percent of the food purchased), costing about $1,800 per year.

Most of the food waste comes from fresh fruits (19%), vegetables (22%), dairy (20%), meat (21%), and seafood (31%).

All while there’s horrific starvation going on throughout the world – it’s so sad.

One way to reduce this problem is by using a vacuum sealer.

These devices allow you to preserve your food BEFORE it goes bad; BEFORE it turns into waste.

If you use a vacuum sealer, you can avoid this preventable waste AND save thousands of dollars per year!

That’s a win-win.

Saving money and saving the world.

Preparedness

Another reason to own a vacuum sealer is that it’s one of the most affordable ways to preserve food.

And I’ve written extensively about food storage and preservation techniques, such as:

Now, without a doubt, using a freeze dryer is the BEST way to stockpile food. Why? Because freeze-dried foods easily last decades!

How? Freeze dryers use extremely low temps and a vacuum chamber to remove ALL water content. And it does this without sacrificing texture, flavor, or nutrition.

But, there’s one massive drawback to Freeze Dryers – they’re expensive as hell. We’re talking over $2k expensive (for the small models)!

So the upfront cost to buy a freeze dryer is cost-prohibitive for most folks – myself included.

But you can pick up a vacuum sealer, with all the bells and whistles, for under $200.

And while freeze dryers remove moisture to preserve it, vacuum sealers remove oxygen.

And bacteria (the stuff that spoils food) is organic. So it needs what all living organisms need to survive (air and water). So by removing either of these elements, you stop food spoilage in its tracks.

Vacuuming sealing, and properly storing food, can provide shelf-stable foods for years. And sometimes even decades!

That’s what preparedness is all about, accumulating healthy foods for an uncertain future.

Vacuum sealers are an essential tool to build a food stockpile properly.

Waterproofing

Most people buy vacuum sealers to preserve food, but that’s not the only thing you can vacuum seal.

There’s a lot of gear, clothes, etc. that you also might consider vacuum sealing.

For example, you could vacuum seal some matches for your bug out bag. Or you could vacuum seal ammo before you put them into a survival cache.

Any gear to put into a plastic bag and vacuum seal immediately protects that item from water – genius!

Storage Compression / Saving Space / Organization

Vacuum sealers can crush fabrics or jackets down significantly in size. This process will keep your cramped closets organized and tidy.

For example, my wife owns several down vests, and those compress down to a fraction of the original size. These lightweight jackets are an ideal item to compress when not in use.

Best Vacuum Sealer Features

Automatic Bag Detection

Automatic bag detection makes vacuum sealing easier than ever. It allows you to add the tip of a bag to the mouth of the vacuum sealer, and the machine does the rest.

Auto means there are no levels to push or pull or activation buttons to push. Just feed the bag into the mouth of the machine, and it will detect it and begin sucking.

Accessory Hose

A hose attachment allows you to vacuum seal more than just plastic bags. You can use specialty attachments to vacuum mason jars as well.

This feature helps make your vacuum sealer much more versatile.

Here’s an example of an accessory hose put to good use:

Bag Storage Built-In

Another nice feature is a built-in bag storage location for a roll of specialty plastic bags.

Machines with this storage feature also tend to provide a slide cutter. So you can just pull the plastic out to any size you choose and cut it.

This feature is not only more convenient but helps eliminate waste. It does this by allowing you to custom-size the bags only to use the amount of plastic you need. No more, no less.

Removable Drip Tray

Vacuum sealing liquids can sometimes get messy. Spills and drips are inevitable. So most vacuum sealers include drip trays to collect this moisture to prevent spills.

But you want to make sure you get one with a REMOVABLE drip tray. This feature allows you to easily clean the tray out without having to put the entire unit in the sink.

“Seal Only” Button

Sometimes you just want to heat seal a bag WITHOUT sucking. This feature comes in handy when you are creating your own custom-sized bags.

When you pull a length of plastic off a roll and cut it, both ends will now be open. Before you can suck, you need to seal one of the bag ends first. But you don’t want to suck yet.

So you need a “seal only feature” if you want to use a bulk roll of plastic bags (instead of pre-bought ones).

And the bulk rolls save you money and reduce waste.

How Long Does Vacuum Sealed Food Last

Well, it depends on the type of food you’re trying to store, how that food is prepared, and what kind of bag you use to store it in.

But if you’re storing dry goods in Mylar bags and using oxygen absorbers. Plus, you keep these sealed bags of food in a cool dry location, you can start thinking in terms of decades!

Awesome, but what about foods with moisture?

Well, if you do a good job of dehydrating fruits and vegetables first, then you can see impressive results.

Again, if you remove moisture and air (oxygen), then mold, fungus, and bacteria cannot take root. IF those spoilers are blocked, the food will keep a very long time.

Best Vacuum Sealer Bag Options (convenience vs. expense)

Most vacuum sealers come with their own set of vacuum seal bags. And choosing the right type of bag is essential for success.

Due to the way vacuuming sealing works, you need micro gaps in the bag.

If you look close, you’ll notice small bumps on the food storage bags made for vacuum sealing. These bumps are essential to the vacuum sealing process.

The bumps create small channels for the air to be removed from the bag. And if there are no bumps, theirs no airway to suck the air through.

This blockage is what happens when you try to use a regular bag (one without bumps) with a vacuum sealer. It doesn’t work!

There are three types of bags people tend to use with a vacuum sealer

  1. Vacuum Sealer Bags
  2. Mylar Bags
  3. Ziplock Bags

Vacuum Sealer Bags

These bags are the ones made explicitly for vacuum sealers. They have small bumps on the bag, but these bumps are not there for looks. The nodes allow air to suck through even when the bag is being held together by the vacuum sealer.

If these bags did not have bumps, then it would be more challenging to get any suction to happen. Why? Because if the plastic was smooth and flat, air couldn’t pass through to create the suction action.

Then once the air is removed, the vacuum sealer uses a heating element to melt the plastic, creating a seal.

These are the best bags to use for everyday use. But these bags are not ideal if your goal is extreme long-term storage; for that, you should choose Mylar bags.

Mylar Bags

Mylar bags are non-porous and remain completely sealed for years, and perhaps decades.

But because it’s so smooth, it’s impossible to draw air out of a Mylar bag using a vacuum sealer.

To make these bags work, you must add a small strip of specialty plastic to create a channel for the air to suck through.

Here’s a video showing this cost-effective and straightforward method in action:

Ziplock Bags

Everyone knows Ziplock bags, and they do make a “ziplock” version of the plastic vacuum seal bags. And the reason we all love ziplock bags is because of their extreme convenience.

But, standard zip locks are not made to work with vacuum sealers. And the specialty ones are cost-prohibitive.

So, if you’re interested, there is a way to use regular zip locks with your vacuum sealer. Yes, it does take more steps, but it’s not too bad if you’re interested in saving a few dollars.

3. Toilet Paper, Towel, Wipes

With the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone now realizes how critical TP is for everyday life. That’s why many people have stocked up to prevent being caught off guard in the future. Great!

But here’s the problem, what if your TP stash gets wet from a flood or a pipe leak? It could ruin your entire investment. Plus, stockpiling TP takes up a ton of storage space.

So to fix both of these issues, you could vacuum seal your TP and compress it (to save space) AND make it waterproof! This strategy makes sense to me.

Note: Any type of thin fabric or cloth will compress down to a much smaller size when most of the air is removed.

4. Batteries

You should waterproof your batteries. This is especially true IF you pack batteries in your survival pack or bug out bag.

Vacuum sealing keeps them safe and helps to prolong their shelf life.

5. Fire Starting Kit

There’s nothing more demoralizing than showing up at your campsite and can’t make a fire.

This is your fate if your survival lighter or survival matches become soaked. They become useless.

No spark, no fire, no heat, no cooking…bummer

So put your matches and lighters in a plastic bag and vacuum seal them to make them waterproof.

6. Ammunition

Listen, if you’re into preparedness, then you know how important it is to store your ammo the right way.

And usually, I’d suggest using ammo cans with good seals (plus using oxygen absorbers).

But what if you want to bury some ammo in a survival cache?

Well, in this case, I suggest you vacuum seal your ammo to prevent any moisture-based corrosion.

7. Medication

If you want your medications to last many years, get them out of those pill bottles.

Instead, use Mylar bags to seal those critical meds for the long haul.

8. First Aid Kits

Small first aid kits are generally not waterproof. But these are also the kits that are best for your survival pack, bug out bag, or get home bags.

But downpours or river crossings can put all your gear into jeopardy. So waterproof that bad boy using plastic bags and vacuum sealing.

9. Sharpie Markers / Pens

Ink will eventually dry out when exposed to air.

So vacuum seal a few, and you’ll know you’ve got the power of the pen no matter what the future holds.

10. Spices

Spices can lose flavor over time. They won’t typically “spoil” but what good is a spice that has little or no flavor.

But you can save that flavor profile longer by trapping them in an airtight vacuum chamber.

10. Hand Crank Radio

If you use Mylar bags for storage, you’re creating a mini Faraday bag.

An EMP electrical pulse will go around the foil of Mylar and protect the devices within. So add a hand-crank radio (or any electronic devices) to a Mylar bag and vacuum seal it.

12. Firearm

Again, survival caches are known to be exposed to moisture – no matter how well you seal the container.

And if you store ammo in your survival cache, you may also want to have a firearm to go with said ammo.

So suck out the air and wrap it up!

13. Seeds

Seeds are powerful, especially in a doomsday scenario. A seed can equal an abundance of food and nutrition.

They have extreme value in a barter economy.

That’s why you should protect that value by sealing them up. Don’t let them go bad prematurely.

14. Documents / Photos

You can vacuum seal your documents or laminate them. Both of these techniques protect critical documents from water damage.

So if you’re worried about flooding– consider vacuum sealing your critical docs.

15. Socks/Underwear/Tee-shirts

You should take at least one change of undergarments in your bug out bag. And I like to put them in a skivvy roll to keep them organized and compact.

However, you can compress these “small clothes” even more. AND make them waterproof by vacuum sealing them.

Final Thoughts

A vacuum sealer is a wise investment, especially if you’re into preparedness.

Because when you store foods without moisture or air, they last much much longer. This method helps to prevent unnecessary food waste and builds valuable food stockpiles.

Save money AND become more resilient? A vacuum sealer is truly a “no brainer” investment.

Best Vacuum Sealers To Stockpile & Save Money

1 Our Top Pick

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine with Automatic Bag Detection

The FoodSaver V4800 has automatic bag detection. Put the bag in the vacuum chamber, and the machine does the rest to keep your food fresh and flavorful.

Its built-in rolled storage and cutter lets you make custom-sized bags. While LED light indicators easily guide you through the vacuum sealing process.

Plus, its smart technology automatically detects moisture. So it will switch to the correct mode to ensure the proper airtight seal is achieved.

The patented drip tray that can be quickly taken out will catch any overflow liquid. This feature makes this kitchen appliance easy to clean and maintain.

The biggest downsides to this unit are it’s expensive and a bit bulky for permanent counter storage.

3

NutriChef PKVS Sealer

The NutriChef offers a fully automatic simple electric plugin design. With a control center placed on the top panel and a soft touch digital button along with an LED indicator light.

Also, it comes with a one-touch operation that allows you to select if you’re sealing a dry or moist food. The reusable and waterproof NutriChef bags protect the flavor, aroma, and texture.

4

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine

The FoodSaver FM2000 keeps food fresh up to 5X longer compared to other storage methods.

It comes with an innovative removal drip tray to make cleanup fast and easy.

You can take off the upper lid to clean the sealer quickly and safely. Also, it fits up to 12-inch widths. Plus, it’s designed with full auto seal operation. And includes soft-touch buttons and LED indicator lights.

Items You Should Already Be Vacuum Sealing

Check out this excellent video from Canadian Prepper if you’d rather watch than read this list:

1. Food

Meats, Veggies, Fruits, Snacks, You Name it, You Can Probably Vacuum Seal IT!

2. Water

I store water in Legacy Premium 5 Gallon Stackable Containers. Some people buy canned water instead.

Another alternative to expensive canned water is to vacuum seal your own water in Mylar bags.

You can filter water before vacuum sealing and store it in a safe location. It’ll remain safe and delicious until the day you need to crack a pouch open to survive.

3. Toilet Paper, Towel, Wipes

With the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone now realizes how critical TP is for everyday life. That’s why many people have stocked up to prevent being caught off guard in the future. Great!

Bill Maher Calls Out Woke Hollywood Movie Violence for Mass Shootings

@media (max-width:576px) { .read-more-content { height: 210em; } }

Well here’s a report we didn’t think we’d be filing. A Hollywood liberal elite is starting to get it. Well, kind of. On his popular show “Real Time,” Bill Maher took to the stinging “New Rules” segment to call out woke Hollywood. The segment points out, in pretty solid detail, it’s time to starting considering the role of movie violence, namely the overwhelming use of shootings in hit films, and it’s potential relationship to mass shootings.

Movie Violence and Mass Shootings

Conservatives and pro-2A folks know the drill. Hollywood makes tons of violent television shows and movies. They rake in even more tonnage of money with all that gun play. Then every time gun legislation gets propped up, the famed Hollywood actors and execs pile on calling for gun control. Matthew McConaughey famously did just that recently following the horrific school shooting in his home town of Uvalde, Texas.

But Maher seemingly sees hypocrisy in these soapbox speeches. Mirroring a familiar conservative refrain, Maher called out Hollywood’s double standard on guns.

“When liberals scream ‘do something!’ after a mass shooting, why aren’t we also dealing with the fact that the average American kid sees 200,000 acts of violence on screens before the age of 18 and that, according to the FBI, one of the warning signs of a potential school shooter is a fascination with violence-filled entertainment?” he asked. “It’s funny, Hollywood is the wokest place on Earth in every other area of social responsibility…but when it comes to the unbridled romanticization of gun violence: crickets. Weird, the only thing we don’t call a trigger is the one that actually has a trigger.”

Metal Health and Violence

But the pro-2A counter centers on mental health. Here again, Maher–while still sticking to some gun control points to be sure–also points out the mental state linking most mass shooters.

“Broken young men who feel like losers and want the world to hurt like they do,” Maher said, reading his list of potential causes. “Easy access to guns; kids having smartphones, which makes losers feel even worse because of the bullying and all the fake lives that look better than theirs; and, yes, yes, crazy amounts of gun violence and movies and TV.”

Now Maher still appears way more liberal than conservative. We also don’t expect him to start championship for increased gun rights anytime soon. But the nugget here lies in this remarkable fact: even elite Hollywood types might finally be starting to get it. You can’t simply, in good conscious, blame violence solely on the presence of guns. And these wicked acts of mass violence against school children, well those acts can only be perpetrated via the hearts of wicked men.

Movie violence alone fails to explain the problems linked to guns and crime in our society. Neither do video games, socioeconomic standing, education, employment or even mental health. Universally, we’d bet most people agree with that assessment. So why then should guns alone constitute the sole explanation for mass shootings? Simply stated, it falls short like all the others.

Nevertheless, the left continues pandering for gun control to fix the problem. At least on this day, one famous voice from the left questioned that position.

Didn’t find what you were looking for?

Summer Preview: Rolling Blackouts, Higher Gas Prices, Natural Gas Rationing In Europe And A Historic Diesel Crisis

Almost everyone has heard about the rapidly growing global energy crisis by now, but most people assume that this crisis will eventually go away because they think that authorities have everything under control.  Unfortunately, that is not true at all.  This crisis has taken our leaders by surprise, and now many of them have shifted into panic mode because they realize that there will be no easy fixes.  Decades of neglect and foolish decisions have brought us to the precipice of a nightmare, and many of us are going to be absolutely astonished by some of the things that happen in the months ahead.

Here in the United States, we have neglected to properly invest in our power grids for a very long time, and now they are at a breaking point.

We are being warned that there could be widespread “rolling blackouts” this summer, and the situation is particularly dire in Midwest states such as Michigan

The Lansing Board of Water and Light, or BWL, warned in a press release on Tuesday that the company is preparing for potential ‘rolling black-outs’ this summer.

The Mid-Continent Independent System Operator, or MISO, is Michigan’s power grid regulator. MISO will have to ‘load-shed’ if they see expected energy shortages during peak usage times due to hot weather. Load-shedding is purposefully shutting down electric power in some areas of a power-distribution system to prevent the entire system from failing when it is strained by high demand.

Meanwhile, the price of gasoline is likely to continue to go up.

For quite some time, the amount of oil that is being produced around the world each day has been lower than the amount of oil that is being used around the world each day, and as a result supplies have been getting tighter and tighter

Fast forward to today, and where are we? Intrinsic demand is thought to be around 103 million barrels a day now, owing to 1% per year global population growth, plus increased wealth–and demand should keep growing at roughly that pace. But supplies aren’t nearly keeping up. We’re currently producing around 100.6 million barrels (reflecting the loss of about a million barrels from Russia), and the resulting spike in prices is already constraining demand to around 101 million barrels, according to Majcher.

When demand is greater than supply, either prices go up or eventually you have shortages.

And sometimes both things happen.

Bank of America is telling us that oil inventories have reached a “dangerously low point”, and until that changes prices are likely to continue to rise…

The result is a market that for the second straight year is under-supplied, and drawing down inventories as a result–on top of the drawdown in strategic reserves approved by political leaders to try and lower prices. Bank of America is already warning that global oil inventories have fallen to a “dangerously low point,” with certain gasoline and diesel supplies in particular at “precarious levels” as we head into peak U.S. driving season. U.S. oil inventories are already 14% below their five-year average, BofA notes, while distillates (like diesel) are 22% below.

I wish that I could tell you that there is hope that things will turn around eventually.

But at this point the CEO of Exxon is actually warning us to expect “up to five years of turbulent oil markets”

Consumers must be prepared to endure up to five years of turbulent oil markets, the head of ExxonMobil said Tuesday, citing under-investment and the coronavirus pandemic.

Energy markets have been roiled by the Ukraine war as Russia has reduced some exports and faced sanctions while Europe has announced plans to wean itself off dependency on Russian fossil fuels in coming years.

If you think that things are bad now, just wait until you see what happens after a major war erupts in the Middle East.

Then things will really start getting crazy.

Speaking of war, over in Europe a looming natural gas shortage due to the war in Ukraine is likely to cause immense economic problems in the months ahead.

Now that Russia has significantly reduced the flow of natural gas to Germany, it looks like the Germans will soon be forced to ration it, and the Wall Street Journal is telling us that authorities expect “a gas shortage by December”…

The German government moved closer to rationing natural gas on Thursday after Russia cut deliveries to the country last week in an escalation of the economic war triggered by Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Berlin triggered the second of its three-step plan to deal with gas shortages after the Kremlin-controlled energy giant Gazprom, the country’s biggest gas exporter, throttled delivery via the Nordstream pipeline by around 60% last week. Germany’s gas reserves are at 58% capacity, and the government now expects a gas shortage by December if supplies don’t pick up, Economy Minister Robert Habeck said.

It would be difficult for me to overstate the seriousness of this problem.  Energy prices have already gone completely nuts in Europe, and one German official is actually comparing this crisis to the collapse of Lehman Brothers

With energy suppliers piling up losses by being forced to cover volumes at high prices, there’s a danger of a spillover effect for local utilities and their customers, including consumers and businesses, Economy Minister Robert Habeck said Thursday after raising the country’s gas risk level to the second-highest “alarm” phase.

“If this minus gets so big that they can’t carry it anymore, the whole market is in danger of collapsing at some point,” Habeck said at a news conference in Berlin, “so a Lehman effect in the energy system.”

Needless to say, it isn’t just Germany that is being affected

The crisis has spilled far beyond Germany, with 12 European Union member states affected and 10 issuing an early warning under gas security regulation, Frans Timmermans, the European Union’s climate chief, said in a speech to the European Parliament.

“The risk of a full gas disruption is now more real than ever before,” he said. “All this is part of Russia’s strategy to undermine our unity.”

If the war in Ukraine could be brought to a peaceful resolution, that would greatly help matters.

But we all know that isn’t going to happen any time soon.

On top of everything else, global supplies of diesel fuel get squeezed a little bit more with each passing day.  The price of diesel fuel is 75 percent higher than it was a year ago, and here in the United States we have been warned that the Northeast “is quietly running out of diesel”

The upward pressure on diesel and jet fuel prices in particular is getting attention in the White House, Amrita Sen of Energy Aspects told Squawk Box yesterday. Diesel prices are up a whopping 75% from a year ago, and the spread between diesel and gasoline prices has also widened considerably. The high cost is creating huge strains on truckers and the supply chain; the Northeast “is quietly running out of diesel,” FreightWaves warned two weeks ago.

Even though there could be a historic supply crunch, we won’t completely run out of diesel fuel.

However, as I detailed in an article that has gone extremely viral, we are potentially facing really severe shortages of both diesel exhaust fluid and diesel engine oil if solutions cannot be found.

Urea is required to produce diesel exhaust fluid, and the U.S. doesn’t produce enough.  We are normally one of the largest importers of urea in the entire world, and Russia and China are two of the largest exporters.  Our leaders have decided that we don’t want urea from Russia, and China has restricted exports.

So that puts us in a really tough position.  If you have a diesel vehicle, I would highly recommend stocking up on diesel exhaust fluid while you still can.

As for diesel engine oil, there are several key additives that are in short supply right now due to major problems at several manufacturers.  An article that Mike Adams just posted goes into the details.  This is a very serious situation that is not going to be resolved any time in the near future.

The bottom line is that supplies of diesel fuel are going to get very tight, and there may be times when diesel exhaust fluid and diesel engine oil are not available at all.

All three are required in order for diesel vehicles to operate, and as I explained yesterday, the U.S. economy runs on diesel.

If we were suddenly unable to use our diesel vehicles, all of our supply chains would collapse and we would no longer have a functioning economy.

So hopefully our leaders are working really hard to find some solutions.

Because it looks like this summer could be quite difficult, and the outlook for the months beyond is even less promising.

Why Are So Many Strange Pestilences Starting To Spread All Over The Western World?

Why are so many dangerous diseases suddenly popping up all over the place?  In this article I am going to tell you about three new outbreaks that I have never written about before, and the fourth one that I am going to discuss has only been around for less than two months.  For a long time I have been warning that we were entering a new era of great pestilences, but that really didn’t come to fruition until this year.  Throughout 2020 and 2021 the world was fixated on one particular virus, but now strange new pestilences are erupting quite frequently.  Can anyone out there explain why this is happening?

This week, health officials in the U.S. revealed that we are now facing “one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease” in the history of our country.  The following comes from CBS News

Health officials on Wednesday recommended that men in Florida who have sex with other men get a meningococcal vaccine following what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called “one of the worst outbreaks of meningococcal disease among gay and bisexual men in U.S. history.”

The CDC said in a statement that there have been at least 24 cases and seven deaths among gay and bisexual men caused by the bacteria in Florida recently. The CDC also recommended that gay and bisexual men traveling to Florida should ask their health care provider about getting the vaccine.

Seven deaths in just 24 cases is a very high death rate.

Hopefully health officials will be successful in containing this outbreak, because this is a really nasty bug that you definitely do not want to get

Meningococcal disease is caused by a bacteria, and when the linings of the brain and spinal cord become infected, it is called meningitis.

Meningococcal disease usually presents as an infection of meningitis or a bloodstream infection about three to seven days after exposure, the CDC said. Both are serious and can be deadly.

Meanwhile, polio has actually been detected in the United Kingdom

For the first time in nearly 40 years, health officials in the U.K. have identified a likely outbreak of polio in London.

So far, there have been no cases of polio detected directly in the U.K. But instead, scientists have discovered the outbreak through an indirect route. They’ve found multiple versions of the virus in sewage water, the U.K. Health Security Agency said Wednesday in a press release.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

The last confirmed case of polio in the United Kingdom was in 1984.

Authorities theorize that it is now appearing in sewage water because “an infected person brought the virus into London and then spread it to others who weren’t immunized”…

People infected with polio, or who have been vaccinated with a live version of the virus, shed traces of the virus in their stool – which eventually end up in sewage wastewater. So the current hypothesis is that an infected person brought the virus into London and then spread it to others who weren’t immunized.

On a different note, a man in Austria has developed a case of “super gonorrhoea” after having sex with a prostitute in Cambodia

Super gonorrhoea poses a ‘major global threat’, scientists have warned in the wake of an Austrian man catching a drug-resistant version of the STI.

The unidentified man, in his 50s, became infected after having unprotected sex with a prostitute while on holiday in Cambodia in April.

A normal case of gonorrhea would not be newsworthy, because there are millions of those each year.

The reason why this new case is important is because it is a new super strain that “could effectively render gonorrhoea untreatable”

Doctors called his strain ‘extensively drug resistant’ and different to ones seen before.

They warned it could effectively render gonorrhoea untreatable, if it was allowed to spread.

Lastly, I wanted to give an update on the monkeypox outbreak.

On Thursday, the total number of confirmed cases in the United States rose to 156

MONKEYPOX cases continue to rise in the US with 14 new infections detected, data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows.

The latest update by the CDC on Thursday brings the nation’s total cases to 156, only a month since the first US case was detected.

Overall, monkeypox has now spread to 59 different countries, and there are 3,635 confirmed cases.

If what we were dealing with was normal monkeypox, I wouldn’t really be too alarmed.

However, scientists are telling us that this is a “hyper-mutated” strain, and officials here in the U.S. are warning that “unusual symptoms” are being reported by many victims…

Scientists have warned of unusual symptoms in US patients that were not previously associated with the virus.

Some patients reported pain in or around the anus and rectum, rectal bleeding, proctitis (painful inflammation of the rectum lining), or the feeling of needing a bowel movement even though the bowels are empty.

Of course it is entirely possible that those symptoms are being caused by something other than monkeypox.

New York has been one of the hotspots for this outbreak, and authorities in New York City have decided to start offering vaccination to “at-risk groups”

New York City began offering vaccination against monkeypox to at-risk groups on Thursday, as authorities scramble to contain a global outbreak.

But demand was so high, within hours of launching the program the city had to cut off walk-in appointments, and scheduled visits were already booked through early next week.

If there is this much hysteria in the U.S. with only 156 confirmed cases, what will things be like if the number of confirmed cases rises to 10,000 or 100,000?

The word “lemmings” comes to mind when I hear about this sort of panic.

At this point, there is no reason to panic over any of these outbreaks.

But of course it is inevitable that eventually there will be pestilences that will make everything that we have been through so far look like a cakewalk.

So we will keep watching, because the next deadly plague that kills millions of people could be just around the corner.

Former NY Fed Chief: ‘Welcome To The Recession’

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge.

Former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and vice-chair of The Fed Bill Dudley has not been shy to express his real thoughts since he left the hallowed halls of groupthink.

Former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and vice-chair of The Fed, Bill Dudley

In August 2019, he urged Fed Chair Powell to prevent Trump’s re-election.

In June 2020, Dudley admitted The Fed’s massive intervention during the COVID crash had created “a little bit of moral hazard in the sense you’re encouraging people to take on more debt.”

In October 2020, the former FRBNY boss admitted The Fed was powerless and only Congress could save Americans now.

In November 2021, Dudley warned The Fed that “hope and pray” that inflation abates is not a strategy, warning, “if it waits, the economy could significantly overheat, requiring the Fed to jam on the brakes, precipitating an early recession.”

Then lastly, in April 2022, the retired group thinker admitted that “Financial conditions need to tighten. If this doesn’t happen on its own (which seems unlikely), the Fed will have to shock markets to achieve the desired response.”

Which appears to be what they have done, and now, confirming what we have been saying since December, Dudley explains in his latest Bloomberg Op-Ed that The Fed is cornered and a hard landing for the economy is inevitable.

“While the Fed’s forecasts have become more plausible over time, I see several reasons to expect a much harder landing.

And after laying out those reasons, his conclusion is ominous…

“Much like Wile E. Coyote heading off a cliff, the US economy has plenty of momentum but rapidly disappearing support. Falling back to earth will not be a pleasant experience.”

Read the full op-ed below: (emphasis ours)

If you’re still holding out hope that the Federal Reserve will be able to engineer a soft landing in the US economy, abandon it.  A recession is inevitable within the next 12 to 18 months.

In their latest set of projections, Fed officials laid out a benign scenario, in which the economy keeps growing at a moderate pace and unemployment increases only slightly, even as the central bank raises interest rates significantly to get inflation under control. While the Fed’s forecasts have become more plausible over time, I see several reasons to expect a much harder landing.

First, persistent price increases have forced the Fed to shift its focus from supporting economic activity to pushing inflation back down to its 2% objective. The central bank’s employment mandate is now subservient to its inflation mandate. This can be seen both in Chair Jerome Powell’s performance at last week’s press conference and in the June FOMC statement, which removed language that the labor market would “remain strong.”

Second, the new focus on price stability will be relentless. Fed officials recognize that failing to bring inflation back down would be disastrous: Inflation expectations would likely become unanchored, necessitating an even bigger recession later. From a risk management perspective, better to act now, whatever the cost in terms of jobs and growth. Powell does not want to repeat the mistakes of the late 1960s and the 1970s.

Third, the current economic expansion is uniquely vulnerable to a sudden stop. In the short term, payroll growth, economic reopening and healthy balance sheets (supported by the vast fiscal stimulus of 2020 and 2021) should support demand, which in several sectors exceeds supply. For example, the two-year cumulative supply shortage in the motor vehicle sector likely amounts to several million units. As a result, it’ll take time and a considerable monetary policy tightening to reduce demand and for that to translate fully into weaker production of goods and services.

But when that time comes, the production adjustment is likely to be abrupt, due to tight financial conditions, restrictive fiscal policy and tapped-out household savings. The broad US equity market is down more than 20%, mortgage rates are up more than 2 percentage points and the dollar is up about 10% against a broad basket of foreign currencies (constraining U.S. exports). The Hutchins Center at the Brookings Institution estimates that fiscal policy shaved more than 3 percentage points off annualized US economic growth in the first three months of 2022 — a drag that is expected to persist through 2023. As inflation outstrips wage growth, the personal savings rate has plummeted, from 26.6% in March 2021 to 4.4% this April, significantly below its long-run average. No wonder consumer sentiment has fallen to levels last reached in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, and Google searches for the word “recession” are hitting new records.

Finally, economic history points to a hard landing. The Fed has never tightened enough to push up the unemployment rate by 0.5 percentage point or more without triggering a recession. According to the Sahm rule, when this trigger is reached the next stop is a deeper slump, in which unemployment increases by at least 2 percentage points.

Much like Wile E. Coyote heading off a cliff, the US economy has plenty of momentum but rapidly disappearing support. Falling back to earth will not be a pleasant experience.

Given all that, we wonder what Mr. Powell will say at this morning’s Humphrey Hawkins testimony.

Remember, the weekend’s talking points from Washington were that “recession is not inevitable.”
