Hang-Gliding Horror: “I Wasn’t Attached!” [PODCAST]

RELATED: How to Survive Insanely High Falls

Hang-Gliding Horror: “I Wasn’t Attached!”

It was a sunny, crisp winter’s day in Interlaken, Switzerland, and Florida couple Chris and Gail Gursky, married for 26 years and parents to a grown-up son, had the perfect plan to get their hearts pumping – hang-gliding over the gorgeous terrain. They loved zip-lining. Now, it was time to up the ante. And they were keen to get started – it was their first day on holidays.

The instructor strapped Chris in, then they ran off the edge of the cliff together. But as soon as Chris’ feet left the ground, his body sank straight down and he knew something was terribly wrong. Horrifyingly, his harness hadn’t been strapped on properly. He wasn’t attached. And he was hurtling well above the trees. This is how Chris survived…

Survival Life’s Camping Checklist for 2021

Having a camping checklist allows you to cross-check and ensure you have everything you need to make your camping experience fun.

Here is a detailed roundup of everything you need to ensure you enjoy your stay outdoors.

RELATED: Camping Essentials For A Fun And Safe Camping Trip

The Only Camping Checklist You Will Ever Need for a Fun-Filled Camping Experience

Sleeping Gear

Check out Survival Life's Camping Checklist for 2021 at https://survivallife.com/camping-checklist-suvival-life/

1.Tent

Tents are designed to provide some degree of comfort and shelter while in the outdoors. These outdoor homes come in various shapes and sizes. For instance, some quality sleeping tents offer ample sleeping space as well as interior and exterior storage. Due to their high quality, they can keep bad weather at bay.

On the other hand, Cheaper brands will have reduced sleeping and storage space and will not withstand bad weather as well. Cheaper sleeping tents may also require extra accessories such as a footprint to prevent floor damage.

2. Sleeping Bags

While tents provide direct shelter against harsh weather conditions, sleeping bags play a vital role in keeping you warm and cozy while camping. Like camping tents, sleeping bags also come in different variations from the length, girth, and hip measurement to insulation to temperature rating and other aesthetics.

Tips

  • Sleeping bags with zippers allow for easy entry and exit
  • Consider the fill in your preferred sleeping bag. Down feathers are warmer, lighter, and pack smaller
  • Mummy sleeping bags are warmer than quilt ones, but they are limiting as far as sleeping positions are concerned
  • Hoods and draft collars on the sleeping bag are good for trapping heat

3. Camping Pillow

Sleeping outdoors doesn’t have to compromise on your comfort hence why it made it to this camping checklist. Camping pillow models come in various options ranging from inflatable and ultralight to compressible but lofty ones. Most compressible pillows pack small and expand when unfurled.

Tip: You can always grab your old pillow from home if it packs well

4. Camping Mattress

Unlike the sleeping pad used by backpackers, camping mattresses are generally wider, thicker, and warmer. Most camping mats are self-inflated, while others come with an air pump. While they may not seem necessary, sleeping mats offer insulation against heat loss while keeping you coy in the outdoors.

5. Lantern

It would be remiss to miss a source of lighting in this camping checklist. Lanterns are ideal for group and individual camping, especially when you are hanging outside your tent. What’s more, lanterns offer various levels of brightness and have a wider coverage.

What’s more, modern versions are powered by USB-rechargeable batteries and have up to 400 hours of runtime. You can also check out the solar-powered variations if you are more into green energy.

Tip: Most of these modern lanterns double as phone chargers

6. Headlamp

Even with a lantern, you will still need a headlamp to help you maneuver easily in the dark. It is also efficient because it allows you to have concentrated light while using both hands to set up your tent. Most headlamps come with various settings such as distance beams, flood, and colored lights.

7. Camping Chairs

There are a ton of camping chairs in the market today. Go something within your price range, durable, comfortable, and folds up. As far as personal preference goes, modern rocking models are great compliments for classic fold-ups.

Tip: Hammocks make great alternatives for camping chairs.

Cooking Gear

Check out Survival Life's Camping Checklist for 2021 at https://survivallife.com/camping-checklist-suvival-life/

8. Stove

Today, camping stoves are reliable and robust with upgraded consistent heat output, simmer capabilities, and fine-tuned heat control. Most models in the market use propane with a few liquid and isobutene exceptions.

Regardless of the kind you use, you can find propane and white gas at your local camping store or hardware.

Tip: If you prefer the double-burner table-top models, go for one that packs small

9. Cookware

Regardless of how amateur or complex you intend to make your meals during a camp, you will need a few pots and at least one pan. However, the exact number and type of cookware you need will depend on your group size and culinary preferences.

Tips

  • Your local thrift shop is a great place to get the cookware, especially if you are on a budget. Camping stores will, however, have more durable items for a bit more
  • Besides cooking pots, a kettle will make beverage preparation much easier

10. Dinnerware

You will need plates, bowls, cups, and mugs to use when your food and beverages are ready. While single-use dinnerware may be easier to pack and carry, reusable dinnerware is the best option, especially if you are trying to build your camp kitchen.

11. Table

Though many campgrounds have tables, it will not hurt to have a portable picnic table, especially if you are camping as a group. Besides making it easier to serve food, it offers a great surface to prop items like cutting boards and stoves. Luckily, there are great lightweight options in the market.

12. Cooler

Ensuring that your foods and beverages stay cold during camping is vital. Therefore, the first consideration to keep in mind when purchasing is its ability to keep the interior temperature low. Secondly, you need to consider durability. Besides being more durable, hardshell coolers keep items cooler for longer, and their surface can double as a counter space while outdoors.

Outdoor Clothing

Check out Survival Life's Camping Checklist for 2021 at https://survivallife.com/camping-checklist-suvival-life/

13. Moisture-Wicking Baselayer

A baselayer’s primary function is to absorb moisture or sweat from your body to regulate your core temperature. Since cotton is known to underperform when it gets wet, you should consider trying out polyester or merino wool instead.

You will be surprised at how well 100% merino wool absorbs moisture without getting wet or stinking while remaining silky soft, and comfortable against the skin.

14. Synthetic or Down Jacket

Even when camping in summer, you need some insulation to stay warm during chilly summer mornings and evenings. Luckily, there are only two main options when it comes to warmth. Unlike synthetic jackets, down jackets last longer while retaining more warmth and are lighter.

Note

  • Down jackets are more expensive than synthetic ones, and they do perform efficiently when wet
  • Also, be careful with down jackets around a fire as the feathers can easily catch the flying sparks

15. Rain Jacket

This camping checklist is all about helping you be more prepared for camping, and having a functional rain jacket is part of that. Even during summer, it will not hurt to be prepared for a surprise storm. If anything, rain jackets pack small and add no weight to your bug-out bag.

Tip: Rain jackets don’t have to be anything savvy, but you can go with some brands with reliable waterproofing abilities, quality make, and breathability.

16. Hiking Pants

Jeans pants are not made for the outdoors, considering their bulkiness and tightness that will most likely limit your movement. Luckily, various makes in the market are designed for both men and women and are far better adapted for the outdoors. Besides offering you unmatched freedom of movement, they feature a plethora of pockets, wick moisture, and rarely get heavy when wet.

17. Hiking Shoes

Today, most campers prefer hiking shoes to boots because they are light and allow you to maneuver outdoors easily. Keep in mind that they, however, have a low-height ankle compared to boots. There are tons of options in the market today. You only have to look for something in your price range.

Wool hiking socks are a great compliment to go with your hiking shoes. Unlike the standard white fare ones, wool hiking socks are warmer, don’t stretch after repeated use, and wick sweat better.

Tip: Carry an extra pair of sandals for lounging around your campsite.

9 Best Powdered Eggs (and Deals) On The Market Today

Powdered eggs are an overlooked staple you should include in your prepper food storage pantry.

In this article, we’ll make a case for why and give you a run-down of our favorite brands, specifically:

What Are Powdered Eggs Anyway?

Powdered eggs are fully dehydrated eggs.

They are made with a production method called spray drying. Spray drying is the same technique used to make powdered milk.

The eggs are preheated and then sprayed into a chamber blown through with hot air.

This process separates the moisture and leaves a powder. At which point, operators remove the eggs from the drying chamber.

Humans have been creating powdered eggs for over a century.

Campers consume them, and soldiers have eaten them via MREs from around 1910.

The spray drying method was adopted in the 1930s in London. It made powdered eggs easier to produce quickly and well.

It also made a more durable, transportable, affordable product. Powdered eggs became popular in the UK during WWII rationing. They were soon in use around the world.

Powdered eggs are mainly produced as food for human consumption.

They are also used in animal feed and pet food and pharmaceutical, medical, makeup, and personal care products.

They come in three general varieties:

  • powdered whole eggs
  • powdered egg yolks
  • and powdered egg whites

There are also dried scrambled eggs, which often have added ingredients.

7 Reasons Why You Should Stock Up On Egg Powder

Egg powder is a great addition to your food stores for many reasons.

1. A Reliable Source of a Staple

Eggs are necessary for many different types of cooking. However, circumstances can disrupt the supply chain that brings eggs to your table.

Even if you have backyard chickens, circumstances may prevent you from keeping them. Or they may slow or stop regular production.

That’s why powdered eggs are always a wise protein alternative.

They ensure that you have access to eggs if fresh eggs become hard to come by.

2. Durable and Easy to Store

Powdered eggs are highly durable, so they travel well. This makes them so much better than regular (fragile) eggs for camping meals.

In addition, they require refrigeration and only need water to reconstitute.

They are also very space-efficient and easy to store. One tablespoon of powdered eggs approximates one fresh egg.

This measure means you can fit far more eggs into a much smaller space than you could with fresh eggs.

3. Long-Lasting

One of the most incredible things about powdered eggs is their long shelf life.

If stored correctly, some powdered eggs can last for over a decade.

They are also easy to store and carry on the go.

4. Nutritious

Eggs are an excellent source of protein, which is essential for a healthy diet.

They are also nutritionally rich and low in harmful fats and sugars.

We will expand on the nutritional merits of powdered eggs later in this article.

5. Cost-Effective

Powdered eggs are much cheaper than fresh eggs.

Buying a pound of powdered eggs is far less expensive than the equivalent of fresh eggs.

This fact makes powdered eggs an economical choice in ANY scenario.

6. Easy to Use

Powdered eggs are versatile, and you can prepare them easily in many different ways.

You can reconstitute then scramble or fry them, like fresh eggs.

You can also use them in baking recipes that call for eggs without adding liquid.

So you can use powdered eggs can in most of the recipes where you use fresh eggs. So casseroles, omelets, french toast, and meatloaf are back on the menu!

7. Reduction of Bacterial Risk

Fresh eggs nearly always come with some bacterial contamination risk.

These same risks vanish with powdered eggs because spray drying kills all bacteria in the eggs.

How Long Do Powdered Eggs Last? Can Powdered Eggs Go Bad?

Powdered eggs have a long shelf life.

The actual length depends on the brand, as well as how well you seal and store them.

If properly stored, egg powder has an average shelf life of 5-10 years.

Some powdered egg processes allow them to last longer and can be kept for up to 25 years. However, once you open a container of powdered eggs, it has a shorter life span.

Exactly how short depends on the brand.

Once open, some powdered eggs last only a few weeks, while others last up to a year.

Ready Wise’s eggs also have an industry-best shelf life of 25 years. In addition, they sell these eggs in 7lb buckets with 144 total servings.

They divide the eggs within the bucket into 24-serving pouches. This size reduction helps retain freshness and extends the product’s shelf life.

Ova Easy Egg Crystals

Ova Easy’s freeze-dried eggs are prevalent among long-term food storage chefs.

They have a comparable shelf life to other popular powdered eggs at 11-15 years.

The one major downside of Ova Easy is the cost. They tend to be a good deal more expensive than other powdered eggs. Though occasional sales frequently knock down the price.

Still, these are not a budget option, which buyers should keep in mind.

Reviewer’s comment:

“This really does taste like fresh eggs. I do not use eggs very often. This is so much more economical for me as I am single and I waste most of a dozen eggs before they go bad. The expiration date is about two years and they need no refrigeration.”

Their production facilities are all 100% nut and gluten-free.

One reviewer’s comment:

7 Ways (tips/tricks) To Store Powdered Eggs

1. Store in a Cool, Dry Place

Powdered eggs last the longest if stored somewhere cool.

The temperature of the ideal storage area is between 55-70 degrees F.

You should keep them dry and protected from exposure to humidity.

2. Don’t Expose to Oxygen

Avoid exposing powdered eggs to oxygen whenever possible.

Oxidation can speed up the aging process and drastically reduce the shelf life of the eggs.

3. Use a Sifter When Packing

One common problem with powdered eggs is that they tend to clump.

If you’re packing powdered eggs in containers, give them a quick sift with a strainer first.

This process will cut down on clumping.

4. Pick the Right Amount to Buy

Powdered eggs come in a variety of package sizes. The range usually includes small pouches, #2.5 cans, #10 cans, and buckets.

The right amount for YOU depends on how many people you are feeding. AND their level of egg consumption.

A #2.5 can, for instance, is an ideal size to buy for two people who don’t eat eggs every day.

A larger size like the #10 can hold around a gallon of powdered eggs. This amount equates to roughly six dozen (70) fresh eggs.

Before purchasing, think about how long it takes your family to go through THAT many eggs.

A lower consumption rate may leave you vulnerable to waste. But many families can go through a gallon of egg powder pretty fast. Well before the oxidized expiration date for the eggs (1 month – 1 year, depending on the brand).

If you buy in large buckets, make sure to pack the powdered eggs in smaller, separate containers.

This separation avoids wasting eggs because you can’t finish them quickly enough after you open them.

5. Choose Container Sizes Wisely (The Smaller, the Better)

The best food containers for you depend on your available space.

However, space permitting, it’s better to store powdered eggs in smaller containers than larger ones.

This container size reduction helps avoid unnecessary unsealing and oxidation.

6. Use Tightly Sealed Containers

In addition to erring on the side of smaller containers, you should make sure they are well-sealed.

Food-safe plastic (PETE) containers, FoodSaver containers, mylar bags, and #10 cans work best. You can also vacuum seal as an added measure.

7. Use Oxygen Absorbers

You can add oxygen absorbers to egg powder to reduce oxygen exposure. These absorbers will help keep the eggs fresh for longer.

This setup is a MUST if you are opening and resealing containers many times.

Powdered eggs are nutritionally rich. And relatively low in harmful fats and excess sugars.

Some of their nutritional highlights include:

Lots of Protein

Each tablespoon of egg powder contains 5.77 grams of protein.

Pakistan’s Ruling Class To Block SIM Cards on Phones Of The Unvaccinated

The ruling class in Pakistan has taken extreme measures to convince people to take the experimental gene therapy shot. The masters will block the SIM cards on the phones of those who still refuse to get “vaccinated” in the country.

The real repercussions are beginning. Ruling classes around the globe cannot have the slaves they command disobey their orders to take this shot.  In Pakistan, the punishments are starting.

Medical Journal: Get The COVID-19 Vaccine, Or Be Punished HARSHLY

We knew this was coming and it will not stop in Pakistan. Medical journals have already suggested the refusers worldwide should be “punished harshly” for not obeying willingly.  The extreme totalitarian decision in Pakistan was made during a meeting of high-ranking civil and military officials chaired by Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid.

Rashid said that the policy would disable SIM cards belonging to those who fail to get  vaccinated “beyond a certain time.”  “We are doing all we can to compel people to get vaccinated… The government cannot allow individuals, who do not want to get vaccinated, to risk the lives of those who are already vaccinated,” the health minister told Pakistan’s Express Tribune. She said that the provincial government would devise a timeline for the policy’s implementation once it received formal approval from the National Command and Operation Center, which coordinates Pakistan’s national response to Covid-19.

“[A] final decision has been taken to block the mobile SIM cards of people not getting vaccinated,” Punjab Specialized Healthcare Department spokesman Syed Hammad Raza told Dawn, a Pakistani daily. The rulers of Pakistan are also looking at banning the unvaccinated population from restaurants, parks,  and malls, according to a report by RT.

Punjab isn’t the only region in Pakistan to take a more extreme approach to vaccination. In Sindh province, plans have been announced to stop the salaries of government employees who refuse to receive the jab.

The United States is still attempting to “reward” the population for taking the shot. But if numbers are not met, more negative repercussions and threats could be used to entice more to take the experimental gene therapy.

6 TOTALLY INSANE THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN IF OUR POWER GRID GOES DOWN

This article was originally published by Joshua Krause at Tess Pennington’s ReadyNutrition.com.

Imagine if you will, what would happen if you pulled an American family from the 19th century, and plopped them in the middle of downtown Los Angeles during rush hour. They’re not given a warning, they’re not given any kind of primer on what they’re about to experience, and the occurrence is completely inexplicable. How long do you suppose they would last before they cried, uncle? Would they even survive? The odds probably aren’t so good.

Of course, the reverse is probably also true. If you and your family were wrenched from the comforts of the present and hurled back into a previous era, you might not fare so well either. Your survival odds would probably be a little better since you have hindsight and an understanding of germ theory. However, it would still be a pretty alien world for you. It would be littered with pitfalls that most modern people can’t even imagine.

6 TOTALLY INSANE THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN IF OUR POWER GRID GOES DOWN

And that’s why it’s so important for everyone to prepare for the possibility that one day our grid could go down in a big way, whether it be from a terrorist attack, cyber attack, nuclear war, or solar flare. If our society suffered a widespread power failure that lasted for weeks or months, it would be no different for us than if we were suddenly sent back to the 1800s. It would be a strange and dangerous world, and for the average person, it would catch them off guard in the following ways:

  1. All commerce will cease. The ATMs won’t work, the banks won’t open, and the cash registers won’t…well, register. For a while, cash will be king, but if the crisis goes on for more than a few weeks, then people will view it as worthless. We’d be back to a barter economy in short order.
  2. Communications will shut down. If you think you can rely on your cell phone to work in a disaster, think again. In a crisis, when everyone instinctively reaches for their phone, that limit is quickly surpassed and the radios on the tower get sluggish, thus causing the fast-busy signal. Mobile analysts estimate that a cell site can handle 150 to 200 calls per second per sector. When a large group is making calls at the same time, the network can’t handle the number of calls. More importantly, communications with police, firefighters, and ambulance services will cease. Many of the workers in these positions will try to soldier on and keep doing the best job that they can for as long as they can. However, without ordinary citizens calling them to report crimes and emergencies, they’ll be helplessly watching their communities burn down around them. It won’t be long before they give up, ditch their posts, and return to their families.
  3. Without electricity, all forms of fuel that our society relies on will stop flowing. All of our vehicles will be dead in the water, and more importantly, the trucks will stop delivering food. The grocery stores will be stripped bare in hours, and will not be replenished for a long time. Even if you live in an area that is rich in agricultural resources, there may be no food to be had, since those farms rely on fertilizers and farming equipment that must be delivered by trucks.
  4. And of course, many of those farms will lack water, as will your plumbing. For a couple of days after the power goes out, you’ll still have running water since water towers rely on gravity to feed the water to your home. However, electricity is required to clean that water and pump it into the tower. Once it’s out, that means that you won’t be able to flush your toilet. So not only dehydration be a major threat, but without the ability to remove human waste or wash your hands, every community will face daunting sanitation problems.
  5. When the grocery stores are stripped bare, the pharmacies won’t be far behind. Millions of people who rely on life-saving medications could die in the weeks and months that follow. But perhaps more shocking is what would happen to the people who aren’t using drugs that are immediately life-saving. 13% of Americans are using opioid drugs, which are highly addictive and cause horrendous withdrawal symptoms. Another 13% of Americans are on antidepressants, and likewise, the withdrawal symptoms are pretty problematic. In other words, within a few weeks after the grid collapses, about 25% of your neighbors are going to be in an awful mental state that is not conducive for survival.
  6. And finally, one of the most shocking things that people will have to deal with, is the lack of GPS. The GPS satellites will probably keep running, but eventually, the devices that read those signals will give up the ghost. These days people are pretty reliant on GPS for directions, and there aren’t as many paper maps lying around. The average person is going to be utterly lost if the grid goes down.

In summary, law and order will break down at every level, and death will be around every corner. It’s one thing to grow up and live in an era that lacks electricity, but to be sent back to such a time on a moment’s notice would be one of the most challenging things that a person accustomed to modern amenities would ever face.

As Trust In The Government Erodes, Many Americans Are Discovering That It Is TOO LATE To Fully Implement Their Backup Plans

Never put anything in an email that you do not want the entire world to see.  Unfortunately, Dr. Tony Fauci is learning that lesson the hard way.  Throughout the course of this pandemic, the mainstream media has been heralding Fauci as a voice of reason that we should trust without hesitation.  He came to be regarded as the ultimate authority on all questions related to COVID, and social media companies banned countless users that dared to suggest that he might be wrong about certain things.  Well, now everything is going to change.  Thanks to thousands of Fauci emails that have been obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request, we have discovered that Fauci was lying to all of us over and over again.  During his opening monologue on Wednesday night, Tucker Carlson actually used the phrase “utter fraudulence” to describe Fauci and his lies…

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ripped “the utter fraudulence of Tony Fauci” Wednesday night, after BuzzFeed and the Washington Post obtained thousands of pages of emails through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, revealing that the nation’s top virologist was telling the public one thing, while furiously working on damage control and narrative-shaping as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded.

At the height of the pandemic, the mainstream media had dubbed Fauci America’s “most trusted voice”, and the big news networks treated him as the pinnacle of scientific knowledge and integrity.

But it turns out that he was flat out lying from the very start.  His emails show that he knew exactly what was going on at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and that is because he was funding the research

Fauci’s emails collectively show that “from the beginning, Tony Fauci was worried that the public might conclude COVID had originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

“Why would he be concerned that Americans would conclude that?” Tucker asked. “Possibly because Tony Fauci knew that he had funded gain-of-function experiments at that very same laboratory.

And when people started putting the pieces together very early in the pandemic, Fauci was instrumental in covering up the truth.

This is the latest bombshell in a long string of incidents which have caused an increasing number of Americans to lose faith in our system.

Everywhere you turn these days, prominent voices are lying.  Virtually everyone has an agenda to push, virtually everyone has ulterior motives, and virtually everyone will do whatever it takes to cover their rear ends at all costs.

“CYA” has become a way of life for most of our government officials, and Tony Fauci has been exposed as just another rear-covering government bureaucrat.

We live at a time when our society is starting to come apart at the seams all around us, and when things really hit the fan the government is not going to be there to save you.

Instead, there will be hordes of faceless bureaucrats that will be working very hard to cover their own rears and that will be looking out for their own interests.

For years, I have been encouraging people to get prepared in advance for what is coming, because it is extremely unlikely that someone else is doing that for you.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, millions of Americans have been relocating.  We have seen a mass exodus from the major cities, and this is something that I have applauded, because I have been an advocate for moving away from large population centers for a very long time.

Unfortunately, we have now gotten to a point where prices for housing in many desirable rural and suburban locations have been pushed to absurd levels.

In one particularly desirable rural location, landlords are now asking for as much as $3,500 a month to rent a unit that has one bedroom and one bath.  And for those looking to buy, inventory is extremely limited, and anything that is listed for less than half a million dollars is likely to be a complete dump.

For many Americans that bring home average incomes, it is already too late to relocate to some of the most desirable rural and suburban areas of the country because they have already been priced out of the market.

Meanwhile, many people that had put off stocking up for the hard times that are approaching are discovering that there are widespread shortages of many of the products that they want to stock up on.

At this point, even the Federal Reserve is starting to panic about how widespread the shortages have become…

With the economy overheating, it will hardly come as a surprise that the latest Fed Beige Book – which found that the economy expanded at what the Fed absurdly called a “moderate pace” from early April to late May, at least clarifying that this was a “somewhat faster” rate than the prior reporting period – one of the top concerns was soaring costs, but nothing spooked the various Fed districts quite as much as what appears to be a shortage of everything, with district after district complaining about broken supply chains, a lack of workers, and critical commodities that just can’t be procured, all resulting in sharply higher prices, slower delivery times and all around chaos.

For certain items, it is now too late to do much stockpiling because availability is so limited.

But the good news is that there is still plenty of food in the stores and there are still sufficient supplies of many basic essentials.

So use this window of opportunity to grab what you can before prices start really going through the roof.

Those that were promising you that everything would turn out just fine if you followed their instructions (such as Dr. Fauci) were not being straight with you.

Everything is not going to be okay.  The truth is that we are headed into the biggest meltdown in American history, and it is going to be exceedingly painful.

Just look at what is happening in the western third of the nation.  My readers knew in advance that Dust Bowl conditions would eventually return, but the vast majority of the population is still absolutely clueless about what is happening.

This is the season of “the perfect storm”.  This is the time when it will seem like everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

And as events spiral out of control, Dr. Fauci and our other leaders in Washington will just keep telling lie after lie as they carefully cover their own rear ends.

The United Nations Is Sounding The Alarm About The Dramatic Increase In Global Food Prices

Conditions are heading in the direction that we have been anticipating, and that is not good news at all.  Food prices are rising at a very alarming rate, and at this point even the United Nations is sounding the alarm.  Most of my readers remember the global food riots that we witnessed in 2008 and 2011, and if conditions continue to deteriorate we could soon be facing something even worse.  Of course this crisis has not emerged out of a vacuum.  We struggle to feed the entire world even in the best of years, and for a very long time I have been warning that we would eventually be facing extremely painful food prices and serious shortages of food in the poorer areas of the planet.  But those running things just kept assuring us that everything would work out just fine somehow.

Unfortunately, they were wrong.

This week, even the United Nations was forced to admit that we are entering very dangerous territory after global food prices shot up for a 12th month in a row

A United Nations gauge of world food costs climbed for a 12th straight month in May, its longest stretch in a decade. The continued advance risks accelerating broader inflation, complicating central banks efforts to provide more stimulus.

Drought in key Brazilian growing regions is crippling crops from corn to coffee, and vegetable oil production growth has slowed in Southeast Asia. That’s boosting costs for livestock producers and risks further straining global grain stockpiles that have been depleted by soaring Chinese demand. The surge has stirred memories of 2008 and 2011, when price spikes led to food riots in more than 30 nations.

Sadly, global food inflation appears to be accelerating.  We are being told that last month’s jump in prices was the largest “in more than 10 years”.

Here in the western world, we can just dig a little deeper into our pockets in order to pay our rising grocery bills.

But in the poorest areas of the world, higher prices can mean the difference between eating and not eating.

Things have already gotten so bad that one UN official is warning that we have “very little room for any production shock”

“We have very little room for any production shock. We have very little room for any unexpected surge in demand in any country,” Abdolreza Abbassian, senior economist at the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, said by phone. “Any of those things could push prices up further than they are now, and then we could start getting worried.”

Of course there are “production shocks” happening all over the globe at this point.  The drought that is crippling agricultural production in Brazil and other South American countries has been absolutely devastating, and yesterday I wrote an entire article about how the endless megadrought in the western half of the United States is forcing some farmers to destroy their crops.

Things are especially dire in California right now.  It is being reported that the reservoirs in the state are “50% lower than normal”, and water levels are dropping much faster than they did during the previous drought

Temperatures hit triple digits in much of California over the Memorial Day weekend, earlier than expected. State officials were surprised earlier this year when about 500,000 acre feet (61,674 hectare meters) of water they were expecting to flow into reservoirs never showed up. One acre-foot is enough water to supply up to two households for one year.

“In the previous drought, it took (the reservoirs) three years to get this low as they are in the second year of this drought,” Lund said.

California residents may soon be facing draconian water restrictions, and farmers in the state have already been informed that they will be receiving very little or no irrigation water this year depending on where they live.

Without enough water to irrigate their crops, many California farmers won’t be producing much at all this year.

And that is really bad news, because California produces more of our fruits and vegetables than anyone else does by a very wide margin.

What this means is that food prices are going to continue to rise aggressively.

Needless to say, the price of just about everything has been going up these days, and Americans have been doing more Google searches for “inflation” than ever before

According to Google Trends, searches for the word “inflation” hit the highest level since 2004 between May 9 and May 15. That’s as far back as the data goes. Google charts trends numerically and during that time period interest in “inflation” went all the way up to 100.

In the end, it is just basic economics.

There are way too many dollars chasing way too few goods and services, and my readers knew that this sort of painful inflation was coming in advance.

As inflation rises, our standard of living goes down, and more Americans are being pushed out of the middle class with each passing day.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, poverty and homelessness have been absolutely exploding, and even those that live in wealthy areas are now discovering that this crisis is starting to show up on their doorsteps.

In fact, it appears that Hunter Biden has decided to move out of the luxury home that he was renting in Venice Beach, California because of the epidemic of homelessness that is ravaging that community

Hunter Biden appears to have moved out of the luxury $5.4 million home he was renting in Venice Beach, California amid a crime and homelessness wave that has hit the beach-front Los Angeles city.

The son of President Joe Biden was reportedly paying $25,000 a month to rent the three-story property on the Venice canals – just a block away from the beach.

But on Monday, DailyMail.com spotted a moving truck outside the palatial home with furniture being loaded into it.

For an idea of what life is like in Venice Beach today, just check out this video.

Once upon a time, Venice Beach was one of the most beautiful locations in the entire country.

Now it has been completely ruined, and the same could be said for much of the rest of the nation.

But if you think that things are bad now, just wait, because the chapters ahead are going to be even more terrifying.

Russia’s $186 Billion Sovereign Wealth Fund Dumps All Dollar Assets

This article was originally published by Tyler Durden at ZeroHedge.

Following a series of corporate cyberattacks that American intelligence agencies have blamed on Russian actors, Russia’s sovereign wealth fund (officially the National Wellbeing Fund) has decided to dump all of its dollars and dollar-denominated assets in favor of those denominated in euros, yuan – or simply buying precious metals like gold, which Russia’s central bank has increasingly favored for its own reserves.

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov made the announcement Thursday morning at the annual St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“We can make this change rather quickly, within a month,” Siluanov told reporters Thursday.

He explained that the Kremlin is moving to reduce exposure to US assets as President Biden threatens more economic sanctions against Russia following the latest ransomware attacks. The transfer will affect $119 billion in liquid assets, Bloomberg reported, but the sales will largely be executed through the Russian Central bank and its massive reserves, limiting the market impact and reducing visibility on what exactly the sovereign wealth fund will be buying.

“The central bank can make these changes to the Wellbeing Fund without resorting to market operations,” said Sofya Donets, economist at Renaissance Capital in Moscow. “This in some sense a technical thing.”

Jordan Rochester, currency strategist at Nomura International PLC, said, “This is a transfer of euros from the central bank to the wealth fund, we’ll then see the central bank the holder of the USDs and it’s up to them to manage it. No initial market impact.”

The news isn’t a complete surprise: The Bank of Russia, Russia’s central bank, has steadily reduced its dollar holdings over the last few years amid increasing sanctions pressure from the US and Europe. That trend continued through President Trump’s term.

Just a few days ago, we reported that the Russian parliament had just authorized the sovereign wealth fund to buy gold through the central bank. However, the central bank reports its holdings with a six-month lag, making it impossible to determine its current holdings.

Russia’s gold holdings eclipsed its dollar reserves last year despite a halt in gold purchases. This was partly due to an increase in the value of its gold holdings with the rise in gold prices, and partly a function of the central bank’s continued efforts to shed dollar assets.

The wealth fund currently holds 35% of its liquid assets in dollars, worth about $41.5 billion, with the same amount in euros and the rest spread across yuan, gold, yen, and pounds. After this latest change, the fund’s assets will be held 40% in euros, 30% in yuan, 20% in gold, and 5% each in yen and pounds, Siluanov said.

The wealth fund holds savings from Russia’s oil revenues above a cutoff price and is used to help offset shortfalls when the market falls below that level. Together with illiquid assets, its total value is $185.9 billion.

A few years ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Washington was inadvertently accelerating de-dollarization with its aggressive financial sanctions, which were forcing its geopolitical adversaries to reduce their dependence on the greenback. Just last month, Russia reached a new milestone whereby fewer than 50% of its exports were paid for in dollars.

It appears that after years of steadily reducing its dependence on the dollar, Russia is about to intensify those efforts in a way that Washington will be forced to take notice.
