74% of families with children making less than $100,000 have “experienced serious financial problems” during this crisis

The reason why so many people are clamoring for Congress to get another stimulus bill passed is because an unprecedented number of households are in desperate financial need right now.  As you will see below, millions of Americans missed their rent or mortgage payments last month, millions missed their student loan payments, and millions are falling into poverty.  The economic downturn that was sparked by the coronavirus pandemic has stretched on far longer than most people originally anticipated, and many Americans are simply running out of money at this point.  In fact, one survey that was conducted not too long ago found that 40 percent of all households have “used up all or most of their savings” and 74 percent of families with children that make less than $100,000 a year have “experienced serious financial problems” during this crisis…

Nationwide, food insecurity has become a pervasive problem. The percentage of families with children who reported not having enough to eat more than tripled in July compared with 2019. One report found nearly half of American families lived with hunger in the summer.

Another found more than 40% of surveyed households with children had used up all or most of their savings by early August. Children in households making less than $100,000 have been especially affected: 74% of those families experienced serious financial problems.

Those are deeply alarming numbers.

If “nearly half” of U.S. families are living with hunger now, how bad will things get if the U.S. economy takes another turn for the worse?

One hard working American that has almost reached her breaking point is a 43-year-old veteran and mother of three named Kaneadsha Jones…

By early October, Kaneadsha Jones was close to giving up. It had been seven months since she or her husband had steady work. Seven months since her three school-age children, including a 14-year-old daughter with autism who is blind, nonverbal and immunocompromised, had been to school. Four months since a shooting on her block left her car and her family’s rented house in north Columbus, Ohio, riddled with bullet holes and her 12-year-old daughter struggling with severe post-traumatic stress disorder.

When she received the first stimulus check from the federal government, she used it all to pay utility bills that were past due.

But since then there have been no more checks and the bills have just continued to pile up.

She continues to fight for the sake of her family, but she admits that she is really, really tired

“I’m so tired,” Jones said. “It seems nothing is getting a little better. The only thing that keeps me trying is my family.”

Have you ever felt like she is feeling right now?

I think that most of us have at some point in our lives.

All across the country, unemployed workers are becoming very desperate because they are starting to exhaust their unemployment benefits and they still haven’t been able to find jobs.  One such individual is a chemist in Ohio named Kate McAfee

New research from JPMorgan Chase Institute and the University of Chicago focused on 80,000 unemployed people shows savings built up when the government provided aid is now rapidly running out, leaving people like chemist Kate McAfee fretting about their futures.

“I’m still unemployed,” said McAfee, who was laid off from her job outside Cleveland back in April. “I’ve now exhausted my 26 weeks of unemployment here in Ohio and have moved on to the additional 13 weeks of extended benefits from the federal government.”

Since the pandemic started, more than 64 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits, and every single one of those workers has a unique story.

Most of them had at least some savings, but when you are not working month after month those savings tend to disappear very quickly.

Now as we approach the holiday season a lot of people have completely run out of money and lots of bills are starting to go unpaid.

For example, it is being reported that over 6 million households didn’t pay their rent or mortgage last month…

More than 6 million households failed to make their rent or mortgage payments in September, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Research Institute for Housing America, a sign that the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic is weighing on jobless Americans as Congress stalls on relief measures.

And we are also being told that approximately 26 million Americans didn’t make their student loan payment last month…

In September, roughly 26 million people missed their student loan payment. The proportion of student debt borrowers who missed a monthly payment has remained steady at 40% since May.

We have never seen anything like this before.

Just like during the last recession, vast numbers of Americans that once lived comfortable middle class lifestyles are rapidly falling into poverty.

In fact, one recent study found that 8 million Americans have fallen into poverty just since the month of May

Some eight million Americans have fallen below the poverty level since May after federal stimulus money dried up and Congress did not follow up with more relief legislation, according to a new study.

Meanwhile, the economic recovery has slowed down as more than 55 million Americans are now earning less than $26,200 a year – which is what the federal government considers the poverty line.

Coming into this year, most Americans were living paycheck to paycheck and were very deep in debt.

That works okay as long as the paychecks keep coming in, but once they stop things can take a disastrous turn very quickly.

Today, the average American has accumulated $90,460 in debt, and Generation X is drowning in more debt than anyone else…

  • Gen Z (ages 18 to 23): $9,593
  • Millennials (ages 24 to 39): $78,396
  • Gen X (ages 40 to 55): $135,841
  • Baby boomers (ages 56 to 74): $96,984
  • Silent generation (ages 75 and above): $40,925

The sad truth is that most of the U.S. population is simply not in any position to handle times of extreme financial stress.

Unfortunately, this pandemic is not going away any time soon, and that means that industries all over America will continue to let more workers go as economic conditions continue to deteriorate.

And as economic conditions continue to get worse, the level of economic suffering that Americans like Kaneadsha Jones and Kate McAfee are experiencing will continue to intensify.

This has already been such a challenging time for our country, and to be honest the days ahead are looking quite bleak at this point.

BLATANT CENSORSHIP: The Great YouTube PURGE

A massive YouTube purge has taken place. Several channels have been removed from the platform proving truth is treason in the empire of lies.

Let me preface this by saying that whether you do or do not agree with the content published by some channels on YouTube, no one deserves to have the boot of tyranny on their throat or their voice silenced for any reason. Ever.   “When you tear out a man’s tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you’re only telling the world that you fear what he might say.” – George R.R. Martin.

As far as I, personally am concerned, the content published on any of the sites purged is irrelevant. Censorship in any and all forms is immoral all the time.

“Censorship is to society what cancer is to the body.” –Brian, High Impact TV

“Those who burn books today will be burning bodies tomorrow,” Brian says.  Make no mistake, this is digital book burning. It’s time to come together and stand up for basic fundamental human rights. This is extremely serious, and it’s no exaggeration to say so.

After Brainwashing People For Decades, MSM and Governments Are Losing Control of People

This blatant censorship says one thing: the mainstream media and the controllers who pull the strings are scared. If they weren’t terrified of us, they wouldn’t be trying so hard to shut any of us up. The truth will prevail regardless.

Here is the list of the channels that we know about that were removed just today:

Try to find as many of these as you can on Bitchute or Steemit. Please try to take a few minutes to find any of these creators and support them on alternate sites.  This is economic terrorism. These people’s livelihoods were removed because they disagree with the official narrative.

Sean from SGT Report is trying to help et the word out about this. But honestly, as Brian from High Impact TV says is “we are all on borrowed time” now. This proves it. Please Tweet to @TeamYouTube and ask them to reverse this for any and all of these channels. I would happily do the same for you regardless of whether I agree with what you are saying or not. This is tyrannical enslavement.

SGT Report, for example, had access to both of his channels terminated for releasing a video last night about the new Hunter Biden emails, and the Seal Team 6 information coming from whistleblower Allen Parrot and Benghazi whistleblower Nick Noe.  Sean’s work can still be seen at SGTreport.TV and on Patreon and Bitchute (link above).

We need to rise up and stand together. We DO NOT have to agree on everything. But it’s time to call a spade a spade. The system is eliminating people and that should be intolerable to every single human being with an ounce of compassion left in their soul.

If you have been one of those constantly asking in the comments what you can do, you can at least stand against this and support these silenced channels and those who run them. It’s time to stand against this corrupt system of censorship and fascism.

Get ready, because things could get extremely intense from here.

RELATED: 36 Awesome Paracord Projects For Preppers

Uses for Paracord Every Prepper Should Know

1. Tying Tarp to Trees

Tying rope in the tree | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

Paracord is even sturdier than rope and it’s always a great piece of gear to have on hand when you need to secure a tarp for your shelter.

2. Lanyard to Hold Items

There are plenty of lanyard projects for paracord, owing to the great flexibility and versatility of the material. A paracord lanyard provides easy access to your essential items while on the go.

Grab some paracord here.

3. Emergency Paracord Wristband

Having a paracord wristband is like carrying around an amazing multi-purpose tool, ready to be used anytime, anywhere. It’s not just a mere accessory — it’s truly a must-have for any prepper and survivalist.

4. Emergency Snare

If you get hungry out in the wilderness, use one of the strands inside the paracord to trap food. What’s even better, it can trap human foes as well.

5. Fishing Line

You can also catch fish using the inner strands of your parachute cord. If you have a fishing hook and a rod, whether ready-made or improvised, you’re ready to get some food.

6. Boot Laces

Black and gray hiking boots | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

This is one of the many ways to bring along lots of paracord without anybody knowing. Boots can hold long stretches of cordage. Of course, you don’t want to walk barefoot after using some of the paracords, so you can try a new trick: double lacing.

Check out my favorite Life Laces, perfect for paracord-loving survivalists.

7. Floss with the Inner Strands

In survival scenarios, personal hygiene might be sacrificed for more important things. But who says you can’t keep your teeth clean?

Just cut up the outer shell of the paracord and you can use the strands to remove the food and plaque between teeth. Even when SHTF, remember to keep an eye on your dental hygiene!

8. Dog Leash

Preppers and survivalists who love dogs will definitely enjoy working on this project. I mean, who would expect to have yards and yards of paracord from a dog leash?

9. Emergency Suture from Inner Strands

Serious injuries can happen anytime, anywhere. Add some paracord to your first aid kit because it might help in closing cuts or wounds. Take a first aid course to learn how to suture wounds and you’ll have an easier time of it when it happens!

10. Wrap Knife Handle

Sometimes, a knife handles a break from hard use, but don’t worry because any prepper knows you may use the paracord as a substitute. A paracord handle makes the knife easier to hold. You can also make a loop at the end of the handle for an added handling option.

Check out a brutal paracord knife here!

11. Bow Drill

Making fire with friction is primitive but effective and of course, you can use a paracord to do this! A bow drill can help you make a fire faster and better than using your hands.

It is even better if you’re not used to making a fire from scratch. We wouldn’t think twice about packing a bunch of paracord survival bracelets in our gear.

12. Clothes Line

Plastic clothes pin | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

Drying clothes may become difficult when you have bugged out. However, stalking around the wild in dirty clothes can also cause disease, so don’t ignore your laundry.

Set up a clothesline using paracord and you will have warm, fresh and dry clothes. You can also set up a paracord clothesline at home if you like.

13. Improvised Seats in the Wild

With a paracord, you can set up an improvised seat by lashing a long log horizontally to two trees. We’ve been doing this for a long time with ropes but using a paracord is just as good, too. You can rest after a long day of hunting and gathering.

14. Emergency Repair for Sails

A torn sail, while you’re sailing or canoeing at sea, can spell disaster. Leave the cursing and blaming behind and mend that sail with paracord so you can keep going.

15. Belt for Trousers

This is probably one of the most popular paracord projects. A belt is a great way to store and bring along a huge volume of cordage.

It also looks pretty fly. Just because society has crumbled and everything is anarchy doesn’t mean you should let your fashion sense go.

16. Hanging a Kettle Over Fire

Outdoor cooking is easier with paracord. Simply use it to hang your kettle or pot over the fire. You can also build a campfire crane with the help of this super useful cordage.

17. Emergency Sewing Thread

There are so many strong and tough threads inside a parachute cord. You can use them to sew things together if you run out of a thread.

18. Making a Fishing Net

And you thought fishing with paracord only meant using it as a line for your hook and rod. But that’s not all: you can also fabricate a fishing net from the strands.

19. Making a Hammock

These days a hammock is not only good for a cool nap. It can be used as a temporary dwelling when you bug out. If you’ve already made a net, you can use that as a hammock instead.

20. Improvise a Sling

Use a paracord sling to make bundling and carrying cargo easier. A paracord sling has another benefit, which is having cordage available to you anytime you need it.

21. Hobble Animals

Prevent animals from straying by using paracords as hobbles.

22. Perimeter Tripwires

A tripwire gives you a sense of security when you have camped out in a strange place. Use a paracord to connect tin cans or anything that makes noise to create a tripwire. You can rest easy knowing that you will get a warning if there is an intruder.

23. Watch Strap

A paracord watch strap should be on every prepper’s wrist, aside from paracord survival bracelets, of course. You can make one or buy one, and you will not regret it.

24. Rigging Up a Quick Bow Stringer

It is dangerous to string your bow without any stringer. If you have been into archery for some time, you know exactly what we mean. It’s always a good idea to have some paracord with you, like when you forget to bring your stringer.

25. Marking Trail

It’s easy to get lost in the wilderness. But with a paracord, you can easily mark your trail. Simply unwind your paracord bracelet then tie it around tree trunks and other visible spots in the area.

26. Carry Gear on Your Back

Our 100% Nylon (11 Triple Strands) TOUGH-GRID cord is NEVER Spliced and is made with USA pride and craftsmanship which gives you that great feeling that you got what you paid for and are helping keep America strong.

Preppers and survivalists must know how to improvise gears. With a paracord, you can make a makeshift rucksack to carry your things.

27. A Platypus Hose Cleaner (by tying granny knots in it and pulling it through)

Hoses collect dirt as time goes by, not only on the outside but also on the inside. That mud, grease, or dirt will clog up the hose.

Plus, they make the hose look disgusting. Get your paracord, tie granny knots in it, and pull it through that dirty hose.

28. Tying House Keys

Key paracod knot | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

With all the distractions kids are dealing with, they often tend to forget the more important things. Make key holders from paracords and tie them to your child’s wrist or favorite bag.

29. Emergency Tow Rope

It’s a fact of life that things break down sooner or later, and that includes your vehicle. If you don’t have a tow rope when your car is not working, your bundle of 550 cord or 600 cord will come in handy. Admittedly, you need several strands, but it is surprising what a few together will hold!

30. Pulley Line

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that moving large chunks of wood demands lots of physical exertion. Factor in a hill and the problem only gets worse, but a pulley line made from paracord will make the work much lighter.

31. A Standby Strop

Stropping is a quick and easy way to keep the edges of your razors or blades sharp. And you can use a paracord for this. By stropping, you are maintaining as well as extending the life of your tools.

32. Skipping Rope for Kids (needs a heavy knot in middle)

Give the children a fun activity. Skipping rope is a great way for them to exercise and maybe divert their attention from the aftermath of a disaster. You can even join in if you like!

33. Hanging Mesh Frames in the Greenhouse

Be creative with your homesteading garden. With a mesh made from paracord, you don’t need to buy a wire trellis anymore.

34. Bear Bag

Keep bears away from your food. Hang your food supplies on a tree branch up high and keep those Grizzlies at bay.

35. Rudimentary Swing for Kids

Children wooden swing | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

The children will get bored when you have camped out for some time. The parachute cord is strong enough to make a swing for the kids. Set up one and you’ll keep the kids happy.

36. Securing Rolled Items

Rolling items like clothes can maximize space in a backpack. But you might need extra help to keep the items tightly rolled. Of course, you can secure them with a paracord.

37. Abseiling Down a Cliff

When you don’t have a rope with you, a paracord can take its place. Just make sure you have enough and you know the proper way of rappelling.

38. Headband or Hair Tie

This paracord hack will keep the ladies looking nice and neat. Of course, the guys with long hair will also benefit from paracord hair tie.

39. Bundling Firewood

Carrying firewood back to camp is a daunting task. Bundle them together with your 550 cord and it becomes a piece of cake.

40. Dragging Things with a Sled

Mother walking in the cold pulling her child | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

Walking with a heavy load when it’s snowing can make movement impossible. Your feet will only sink deeper with every step. It is better to put your cargo on a sled and drag it along with paracord than carrying all that weight on your back.

41. Hanging a Light on the Latrine

Finding the toilet in the dark is a difficult, if not disastrous, proposition. Make it easier for yourself by setting up a light near the latrine. And paracord is very helpful in setting up that light.

42. Replace a Snapped Pull String

43. Strap Wrench

44. Improvise a Fuse

Did the fuse burn up on your oil lantern? Not a problem. Paracord burns great and can be used to make an improvised fuse.

45. Hanging Home Decor

If you’re in need of horse tackle, don’t fret. Paracord can be used to produce a makeshift knotted halter.

48. Making a Tire Swing

Doing the project itself provides hours of entertainment and once the tire swing is done, they’ll be occupied all the same.

49. Hanging Your Hammock

We mentioned earlier that you can make a hammock with paracords. But even if you already have a hammock of your own, paracords still come in handy when it’s time to hang it.

This is just another way paracords can help you with your woodworking projects or when building a shelter.

52. Pull Cord for Boat Engine

It can be nerve-wracking when you’re out on the water and need to repair your boat. Sailors and boaters should always have a spool of paracord nearby in case of emergencies.

53. Pull Cord for Lawn Mowers

Without a pull cord, that lawnmower is just a very large, expensive paperweight. Use a paracord and save money on costly repairs.

54. Emergency Tourniquet

Emergency Tourniquet

If you’re injured or suffering from heavy bleeding, and you can’t get to a hospital immediately, make a tourniquet from a paracord as a last resort.

What is a tourniquet? A tourniquet stops blood flow through a certain vein during emergency situations. One can use a paracord or tight bandage to compress the limb.

55. Tying Rucksacks When Traveling

When traveling with a lot of gear, it can be easy to drop or lose track of what you’re carrying. Tying it all down with paracord can keep your cargo in place and account for.

A monkey fist is a simple bludgeoning weapon made of a cord with a weight tied to an end. It’s pretty much a flail you can put in your pocket.

You can make a monkey fist with your paracord and a weighted ball or a perfectly rounded rock. In no time at all, you’ll have a self-defense weapon in your pocket.

Make your own monkey fist with this custom jig!

Man jump in the water | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

In a survival situation, it’s important to take some time to relax and let your mind wander. Tying and untying paracord knots is a great way to unwind (no pun intended). Plus, you get to practice tying knots, so you know exactly what to do when you actually need them.

Here’s another way to stay entertained in a bug out situation.

67. Zipper Pull

A broken zipper is one inconvenience you don’t want to deal with in a survival situation. Use paracord to remedy a broken zipper pull.

72. Tie Life-saving Knots

A paracord is easy to manipulate, so it’s great to learn to tie basic and more advanced knots. Once you learn the basics of tying the knots, you can start working with a thicker, heavier rope.

73. Collecting Water

Using a paracord, tie a knot and place it inside a plastic bottle. Hang it on a rock or damp surface and the water will collect on the cord and drip into the bottle.

74. Climbing a Tree

Wrap a paracord around a tree to use as a grip. It’ll make it easier for you to climb the tree.

75. Making Snowshoes

Wooden snowshoes | Uses for Paracord That Will Surprise You

If you didn’t pack a fishing net, don’t worry. As long as you brought some paracord along, you can construct your own.

80. Making a Stronger Cord

The great thing about paracords is that they’re so versatile. If one strand isn’t strong enough for your needs, weave multiple strands together to make a sturdy rope.

81. Hilt Grip

Swords and blades can get really hard to hold, especially when your handles have smoothed out from use. To remedy that, wrap your paracord around the hilt to produce a DIY hilt grip. This gives you a better grip on your blade and prevents accidental slipping.

82. Tow Rope

Vehicle bogged down in the mud and you don’t have a tow rope? You have paracords! Weave several cords together and make a sturdy tow rope.

Tie one end on your car and pull it from a tree trunk and you’ll get your car out in no time.

I am not trying to make a political statement with this article.  I am simply pointing out that the number of Americans that have filed initial claims for unemployment benefits in 2020 is almost unimaginable.  In 2016, a total of 62,984,828 votes were cast for Donald Trump.  Here in 2020, a total of 63,600,000 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits since the middle of March.  So the number of Americans that have filed for unemployment during this pandemic is now greater than the number of Trump voters in the last election.  Of course if Hillary Clinton had won in 2016, we would be saying the exact same thing about her in a couple of weeks.  Back in 2016, she received a grand total of 65,853,514 votes.  The point is not to assign political blame to one side or the other, because neither side knew that COVID-19 was coming.  Rather, I am trying to get my readers to understand that we have witnessed a collapse in employment during this pandemic that is absolutely unprecedented.

And more layoff announcements keep rolling in with each passing day.  For instance, we just learned that ESPN will be laying off hundreds of workers

ESPN could lay off hundreds of employees in the coming weeks, sources told Front Office Sports.

One source pegged the potential number of job losses between 300 and 700 employees. Another estimated 400 possible lost jobs.

The cuts are expected to hit hardest among ESPN employees who work behind the camera.

For many, working in sports television is a dream job, and it hurts me to think that many of those employees will soon lose jobs that they truly love.

Elsewhere, Amtrak has just announced that they could soon be eliminating 2,400 more jobs

Amtrak will need to cut 2,400 more jobs and could see “drastic impacts” on its rail service if Congress does not intervene and provide emergency funding for the passenger rail provider, the company announced Thursday.

In a letter to lawmakers, Amtrak President and CEO William Flynn requested nearly $4.9 billion in fiscal year 2021 to help it close massive budget gaps it faces amid the pandemic.

I know that I am probably boring my readers by discussing layoff announcements day after day after day, but I am trying to make a very important point.

We are not in any sort of a “recovery”.  Instead, we have entered a horrifying economic downturn which isn’t going to end any time soon.

If they actually believed that it was going to end soon, all of these big corporations would not be laying off large numbers of workers.

And without jobs, a whole lot of people out there are deeply, deeply suffering.

Right now, millions upon millions of Americans haven’t been paying rent, haven’t been paying their mortgages, haven’t been making their vehicle payments and haven’t been making their credit card payments.

And I was absolutely stunned to learn that payments are being made on only 11 percent of federal student loans right now…

Less than 11% of people with federal student loans are repaying them during the pandemic, according to data analyzed by higher education expert Mark Kantrowitz. That means about 4.6 million out of 42 million borrowers are continuing to pay down their debt.

Eventually the federal government will be requiring everyone to start making their payments again, but for now this break is helping a lot of people get through this very challenging time.

But when will this challenging time finally be over?

After the election?

In 2021?

So many Americans are looking forward to having economic conditions return to “normal”, but the truth is that our entire system is in the process of melting down and things are never going to be as good as they once were.

For decades, we enjoyed an unprecedented bubble of debt-fueled prosperity that allowed us to have a massively inflated standard of living, but now that bubble is bursting.

But for the moment, there is still one bubble that has stubbornly refused to end.  Thanks to the Federal Reserve, stock prices continue to go up even in the midst of this economic depression, and this has made the gap between the ultra-wealthy and the rest of us wider than ever before

The poorest 50 percent of Americans, or roughly 165 million people, collectively owned about $2.08 trillion in wealth in the second quarter of 2020, according to Federal Reserve data released last week.

That’s less than the net worth of the nation’s 59 richest billionaires, who have a combined fortune of about $2.09 trillion, Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index shows — a number that’s grown this year despite the COVID-19 crisis kneecapping the global economy.

Just think about that.

59 Americans have as much wealth as the 165,000,000 poorest Americans combined.

And overall, billionaires around the world are now worth more than 10 trillion dollars

Billionaire wealth reached record high levels amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a report by UBS and PwC found, as a rally in stock prices and gains in technology and healthcare helped the wealth of the world’s richest break the $10 trillion mark.

The report, covering over 2,000 billionaires representing some 98% of the cohort’s total wealth, found billionaire wealth grew by more than a quarter during the early months of the pandemic to reach $10.2 trillion in July, breaking the previous record of $8.9 trillion at the end of 2019.

Meanwhile, Americans are lining up for miles to get handouts at food banks all over the nation, and it is being projected that more than 50 million Americans will soon not have enough food to eat on a regular basis.

But the mainstream media is going to continue to try to put a happy face on things.  In fact, they are telling us that “stocks will probably rise no matter who wins the presidential election”, and that has to be music to the ears of most wealthy investors.

Of course it is just a matter of time before a day of reckoning comes for those wealthy investors too.

I believe that the months ahead are going to represent a major turning point for our country.  Millions of Americans will have their hopes brutally crushed by the outcome of this upcoming election, and millions of others will be plunged into despair as our nation continues to be rocked by one major crisis after another.

If your life is defined by the system that the elite have created, the times that are approaching are going to be exceedingly difficult for you because that system is failing.

But if you choose to live for the things that really matter, you won’t be overwhelmed no matter how bad things get.

And as bad as things are right now, the truth is that all of this is nothing compared to what is eventually coming.

Goats Are Underrated: 10 Reasons You Need Goats

If you’re moving towards self-sufficiency, you may not have goats on the top of your list for how to get there – but you should. Goats are a great addition to any farm or homestead and offer everything that larger livestock can provide: food, milk, fiber, skin, fertilizer, companionship, and can even help to clear your land. They are also smaller and less expensive to maintain than other traditional farm animals.

What’s Not to Love About Goats?

With proper planning, you can reap the benefit of goats financially, nutritionally, and emotionally. Here’s a full list of reasons to purchase goats:

1. They Clear Land

Goats have a reputation for eating anything, but that’s not entirely true. They can be picky, but luckily for their owners, they do enjoy eating weeds, poison ivy, blackberry brambles, and overgrown shrubs. They may not be the consistent lawnmowers that you hoped for, but they will clear your land into neat pastures.

2. Goat Milk & Cheese

Goat Milk & Cheese | Goats Are Underrated: Reasons You Need Goats

Many people who can’t tolerate cow’s milk and cheese rely on goat milk and cheese, which is more easily digested. Dairy goats will often produce more milk than one family’s needs, which can create an additional revenue stream for your household. You can also use goat milk to create yogurt and kefir.

3. Goat Meat

Goat Meat | Goats Are Underrated: Reasons You Need Goats

Goats raised for meat will provide you with a lean source of protein. Goat meat is lower in fat than chicken and higher in protein than beef. If you plan properly, you can also sell goat meat for supplemental income.

4. They Produce Wool

Not all goats produce usable fiber, but Cashmere goats produce cashmere, and Angora and Pygora goats produce mohair. This means you can spin yarn and make hats, sweaters, and blankets. You can use these at home or sell them.

5. Goat Soap

Goat milk isn’t just for oral consumption. You can also make a mild soap with it that is perfect for people with sensitive skin. Again, this is another way to make products for personal use or to turn a profit.

6. They Make Fertilizer

Goat excrement is perfect for fertilizing fields, and an average goat will produce one ton each year. Goat manure is full of potassium, potash, and nitrogen, and is in pellet form for easy gathering and disbursement. You can also use their feces for dung fires.

7. They’re Great Pack Animals

They’re Great Pack Animals | Goats Are Underrated: Reasons You Need Goats

Goats can carry 20-30% of their body weight on their back and can be trained to pull a cart. They can traverse steep and rocky paths and will eat what they find along their way, so you don’t need to pack food for them on any journey.

8. Goat Skin

Just like leather, goat skin can be dried and tanned for use in products like gloves, rugs, and to make drums.

9. They’re Great Companions

They’re Great Companions | Goats Are Underrated: Reasons You Need Goats

Goats are social and gentle with children. They’re easy to train, loyal, and caring in the same way dogs are. Their smaller size helps to make them manageable as well.

10. Inexpensive Maintenance

Inexpensive Maintenance | Goats Are Underrated: Reasons You Need Goats

Goats don’t need a deluxe shelter and will both browse and eat food scraps, making their upkeep very inexpensive. Quality fencing will help to keep goats contained. You may want several goats since they are herd animals and will do best with companions.

Goats are one of the most versatile animals on the planet. Adding goats to your farm or homestead can create a variety of products both for consumption and make money. As you strive for self-sufficiency, goats are a great way to help you get there.

Survey finds that one out of every five Americans could be out of money “by Election Day”

This week we learned that there won’t be any more stimulus checks for the American people before the election, and that prompted tremendous eruptions of anger all over social media.  At first I didn’t understand why people were so angry, but now I do.  It turns out that a substantial portion of the population is desperate for another round of checks because they are almost entirely out of cash.  In fact, a very alarming survey that was just conducted found that one out of every five Americans “could be out of money by Election Day”

In fact, nearly one-quarter of U.S. consumers say they have less than three weeks of financial runway before they run out of cash, according to a weekly survey on Americans’ finances by consumer finance company Credit Karma. With just four weeks until the election, 1 in 5 Americans could be out of money by Election Day, the data shows.

This is yet more evidence that is consistent with the assertion that the economic downturn in the United States is starting to accelerate again.  The trillions of dollars of “stimulus money” that the federal government borrowed and spent earlier this year is starting to wear off, and tens of millions of Americans simply aren’t going to be able to make it without more emergency government assistance.

But none is coming for a while, and so many American families are going to be faced with some really “tough choices”

“People are going to be forced to make tough choices,” says Colleen McCreary, chief people officer at Credit Karma. “There are a lot of Americans who either haven’t been in this situation in a long time or have never had to face this reality. Many will have to sacrifice and prepare because it could get worse before it gets better.”

Sadly, I think that McCreary’s assessment is overly optimistic.

There is absolutely no guarantee that economic conditions will get any better for the foreseeable future.

With each passing day, more businesses are going under and more jobs are being lost.

In fact, another recent survey found that approximately half of all small businesses in America will “need more aid from the government over the next 12 months to survive”

Half of all small businesses expect to need more aid from the government over the next 12 months to survive, according to a survey by the right-leaning National Federation of Independent Business. Sales for about one-fifth of small companies are still down 50% or more from pre-pandemic levels, the NFIB said.

Please take a moment and let that sink in.

We are talking about half of all small businesses in the entire country.

How in the world can the mainstream media be using the term “recovery” when half of our small businesses are on the verge of going belly up?

That doesn’t make any sense at all.

Of course large businesses continue to deeply struggle as well.  For example, we just learned that Wells Fargo has eliminated 700 commercial banking jobs

Wells Fargo has cut more than 700 commercial banking jobs as part of workforce reductions that could ultimately impact ‘tens of thousands’ of staff, according to a new report.

The San Francisco-based company has made layoffs for positions across the whole division, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

And we also just learned that Ruby Tuesday has formally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

Hobbled by the pandemic and facing the same long-term challenges as other casual dining chains, Ruby Tuesday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection early Wednesday.

The company hopes to use the debt-cutting process to improve its finances and stay in business, saying in a statement that it had “reached an understanding with its secured lenders to support its restructuring.”

Ruby Tuesday has already closed 185 locations, but they are hoping that a restructured company will allow the rest of their restaurants to stay open.

I remember eating at Ruby Tuesday quite a few times when I lived out on the east coast many years ago, and I don’t remember ever having a bad meal there.

If the chain completely collapses, that will definitely be a very sad day.

Of course Ruby Tuesday is far from alone.  So far in 2020, a total of 509 large companies have filed for bankruptcy.  The following comes from Wolf Richter

In September, another 54 large companies filed for bankruptcy, after 54 had already filed for bankruptcy in August, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence, bringing the total for the year as of October 4 to 509, the highest for the same period since 2010.

These are companies that are either publicly traded (minimum $2 million in assets or liabilities), or are private companies with debt that is publicly traded (minimum $10 million).

But this is just the beginning.  As I have discussed previously, we are being warned that a “tsunami of bankruptcies” is coming in 2021 unless the federal government steps in.

At this point, just about every industry wants federal help, and not everyone will be able to get it.

So we should expect to see more numbers like these as the months roll along…

The American Hotel & Lodging Association has said that nearly three-quarters of hotels say they will have to lay off more workers without further financial aid.

And American Airlines and United Airlines combined furloughed 32,000 employees last week. Airlines have already shed tens of thousands of positions through early retirements and buyouts. Delta Air Lines began the year with 91,000 employees, but 18,000 left voluntarily and 40,000 others agreed to take unpaid leaves of absence. The company may cut 1,700 pilots Nov. 1 unless their union agrees to contract concessions.

Overall, more than 60 million Americans have filed initial claims for unemployment benefits this year.  It is a nightmare that never seems to end, and many experts expect the pace of layoffs to start increasing again as we head into 2021.

Many Americans are hoping that the upcoming election will change things for the better, and right now everyone is buzzing about the VP debate.  But there have been bubbles of optimism around previous elections, and yet our long-term economic problems have just continued to get worse and worse.

Over the past 12 years we have added 17 trillion dollars to the national debt, we have witnessed the greatest corporate debt binge in world history, and U.S. consumers have been borrowing and spending money like there is no tomorrow.

But tomorrow always arrives, and our day of reckoning is now at hand.
