Cold Weather First Aid You Need to Know for Winter Survival

When the temperature drops, our bodies gets put to the test. Sometimes, freezing weather can catch even the most prepared folks off guard. Knowing how to treat cold-weather injuries is as crucial as stockpiling firewood in the middle of January. This guide dives deep into cold weather first aid for frostbite, hypothermia, and other winter hazards. You’ll be armed with the knowledge to protect yourself and your loved ones when winter tries to get the best of you.

Stay Safe in the Cold: Cold Weather First Aid for Frostbite, Hypothermia, and More

Snow and ice may look beautiful, but they can also be brutal. Frostbite, hypothermia, and other winter-related injuries can hit hard and fast, especially if caught outside for too long. Here are some cold weather first aid tips to stay one step ahead when winter’s dangers come calling.

1. Frostbite: Nipping at Your Nose and Toes

Frostbite happens when your skin and the tissue underneath it freeze, essentially turning parts of your body into ice. Fingers, toes, ears, and the nose are the usual victims here. If left untreated, frostbite can lead to permanent damage.

Symptoms of Frostbite:

  • Numbness and tingling
  • Skin turning red, then white or even bluish-gray
  • Hard or waxy skin appearance
  • Blisters in severe cases

How to Treat Frostbite:

  • Get to Warmth: Move to a warm area and remove any wet clothing.
  • Gradual Rewarming: Avoid rubbing the area—use warm (not hot) water, ideally around 100°F–104°F, to rewarm the skin slowly. This prevents further damage.
  • Cover It Up: Wrap the frostbitten area in a clean, dry cloth once warmed.
  • Seek Medical Help: If frostbite appears severe and could cause lasting damage, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Pro Tip: Avoid rewarming if there’s a chance you’ll refreeze! Thawing and refreezing worsens the damage compared to staying frozen.

2. Hypothermia: When the Body Shuts Down

Hypothermia sets in when your body temperature dips below 95°F. Cold temperatures, wind, and wet clothes accelerate body heat loss, which can lead to a life-threatening drop in your body’s core temperature. Hypothermia can sneak up on an unsuspecting person, so recognizing the signs is essential to survive this condition.

Symptoms of Hypothermia:

  • Uncontrollable shivering
  • Slurred speech or mumbling
  • Drowsiness and confusion
  • Shallow breathing
  • Weak pulse

How to Treat Hypothermia:

  • Get Out of the Cold: Move to a warmer location and remove any wet clothing.
  • Layer Up: Insulate the person by wrapping them in blankets and if necessary,  even your body heat.
  • Offer Warm Fluids: Warm (non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated) drinks can help raise internal temperature. Avoid anything too hot that could shock their system.
  • Apply Warm Packs: Place warm (not hot) packs under the armpits, on the neck, or on the groin. Be careful not to apply heat directly to the skin.

Pro Tip: If someone with hypothermia stops shivering, it’s often not a good sign. Shivering is the body’s natural response to warm itself, so when it stops, it might mean the condition is getting worse.

3. Trench Foot: When Wetness Meets Cold

Believe it or not, trench foot—a condition often associated with the muddy trenches of wartime—can still be a problem for winter hikers and campers. Cold, wet feet can develop trench foot when blood flow becomes restricted over time.

Symptoms of Trench Foot:

  • Tingling or itchiness in the feet
  • Redness, swelling, or blotchiness
  • Numbness
  • Blisters or open sores

How to Treat Trench Foot:

  • Get Dry and Warm: Remove any wet socks and shoes immediately.
  • Warm Slowly: Avoid direct heat, as this could worsen the damage. Instead, let the feet dry naturally and warm up gradually.
  • Elevate and Rest: Prop the feet up and avoid walking if possible.
  • Seek Medical Attention: If severe, trench foot can lead to lasting nerve damage, so seek medical care if symptoms persist.

Pro Tip: Make sure to check your socks regularly and change them out if they get wet. Just swapping out wet socks for dry ones can help you avoid painful foot conditions!

4. Chilblains: The Itchy, Burning Rash

Chilblains happen when skin exposed to cold is suddenly warmed, which cause small blood vessels to expand too quickly. This condition causes red, itchy patches on your skin that can be quite painful.

Symptoms of Chilblains:

  • Red, itchy patches on exposed skin (usually hands, feet, nose, or ears)
  • Swelling or blistering
  • Burning or itching sensation

How to Treat Chilblains:

  • Warm Gradually: Avoid extreme heat; warm the affected area slowly to prevent more blood vessel damage.
  • Moisturize: Apply gentle, unscented lotion to affected skin to reduce itching and irritation.
  • Don’t Scratch: It’s tempting, but scratching will only make it worse!
  • Seek Medical Advice if Needed: If chilblains don’t improve or recur often, talk to a healthcare provider.

Pro Tip: Prevent chilblains by dressing in layers and avoiding sudden temperature changes—especially when moving from cold to warm.

Outsmart Winter’s Worst

Facing winter’s worst requires grit, know-how, and readiness to act when frostbite, hypothermia, or trench foot strikes. Every cold weather first aid you’ve learned here should be part of yourwiniter survival knowledge base, and keep your fingers, toes, and life intact when the cold bites hard. Recognize the warning signs, respect the cold’s quiet dangers, and apply what you know to stay a step ahead. When winter throws its hardest punch, stand ready, steady, and unshaken.

FAQs

  1. How can I tell if frostbite is severe?
Severe frostbite often shows blisters and dark skin. Seek medical help if you see these signs.
  2. Can hypothermia happen indoors?
Yes, especially in very cold, poorly heated areas or if someone is wet. Keep rooms warm and layers dry.
  3. How long does it take to get frostbite?
In very cold weather, frostbite can begin in as little as 15–30 minutes.
  4. Is shivering always a sign of hypothermia?
Not always, but persistent shivering in cold weather can be an early warning.
  5. What’s the best way to rewarm someone with hypothermia?
Move them to a warm area, wrap them in blankets, and offer warm (not hot) fluids.
  6. How do you prevent trench foot on winter hikes?
Keep feet dry, change socks regularly, and avoid prolonged exposure to wet conditions.
  7. Are chilblains dangerous?
While not usually dangerous, untreated chilblains can lead to complications if they recur often.
  8. Should I rub frostbitten skin to warm it?
No, rubbing frostbite can damage tissue. Use warm water for slow rewarming.
  9. How can I prevent chilblains?
Avoid sudden warming of cold skin and dress in layers to protect against extreme temperature shifts.
  10. Is alcohol helpful for hypothermia?
No, alcohol lowers body temperature and worsens hypothermia. Stick to warm, non-alcoholic drinks.

The American People Voted For DOGE, But They Are Getting PORK Instead…

The Swamp does not intend to go quietly into the night.  Just last month, the American people elected Donald Trump, and Trump received tremendous praise for appointing Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head up a “Department of Government Efficiency” which will attempt to greatly reduce government waste.  Even many on the left are excited to see what Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy can do once Trump takes office.  But for the moment, it is business as usual in Washington, and our Congress critters are poised to substantially increase government spending and government waste.  House Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing a 1,547 page “continuing resolution” that is absolutely loaded with pork.  Johnson personally negotiated this deal with the Democrats, and ultimately he gave the Democrats almost everything that they wanted.  Needless to say, a lot of Republican members of Congress are very upset about this

Republicans are bristling at Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) over the 1,547-page spending deal released mere days ahead of the deadline, full of pork and disappointment.

The continuing resolution (CR) released Tuesday night — negotiated on the GOP side by Johnson — includes tens of billions of dollars in waste and includes funding for controversial items, including a pay raise for members of Congress as well as a one-year extension of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC), which funds organizations that censor conservative media including Breitbart News.

On a personal level, Mike Johnson seems like a very nice guy.

In fact, he is the kind of guy that you might want to have next door as a neighbor.

But he simply does not have what it takes to negotiate with Chuckie Schumer.

There have been a lot of really bad spending bills that have been pushed through Congress in recent years, but this is one of the worst.

After seeing this bill, Elon Musk warned that any member of Congress that votes for it could soon be voted out

Billionaire Musk, who is heading up Trump’s DOGE agency with Vivek Ramaswamy, is leading the charge to slap down the bill he calls a ‘piece of pork.’

He went so far as to threaten any Republican who votes for the measure, saying they’ll be fired from Congress next election.

‘Any member of the House or Senate who votes for this outrageous spending bill deserves to be voted out in 2 years!’

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the American people started holding members of Congress that endlessly waste our money accountable?

I would love to see that.

Musk was particular horrified that this bill would raise congressional salaries by about 40 percent

But Musk is taking issue with a provision to bump up members of Congress’ pay from $174,000 – a level set in 2009 – to $243,300 per year and other measures.

‘How can this be called a ‘continuing resolution’ if it includes a 40 percent pay increase for Congress?’ he questioned.

Considering how much the rest of the country is suffering right now, do our members of Congress really deserve a 40 percent pay hike?

Of course not.

If they want to be “public servants”, we should pay them like servants.

It is sickening that these fat cats will be paid $243,000 a year while hard working Americans are spending hours in line at food banks all over the nation.

Thankfully, there are some members of Congress that are standing up against this bill.  One of them is U.S. Representative Eric Burlison

“It’s a total dumpster fire. I think it’s garbage,” said Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. “This is what Washington, D.C., has done. This is why I ran for Congress, to try to stop this. And sadly, this is happening again.”

“We get this negotiated crap, and we’re forced to eat this crap sandwich,” echoed Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), another Freedom Caucus member. “Why? Because freaking Christmas is right around the corner. It’s the same dang thing every year. Legislate by crisis, legislate by calendar. Not legislate because it’s the right thing to do.”

Every year, our Congress critters love to push through legislation while most of the population is distracted by the holidays.

Why do we need this bill anyway?

Why can’t we just send the government on “vacation” for about a month until Trump is inaugurated?

Once Trump gets in, his people will hopefully be able to negotiate a much better spending deal.

It will be very interesting to see how the vote on this bill goes.  At this point, many Republicans are pledging to vote against it.

In particular, I really like how U.S. Representative Paul Gosar announced his opposition to the bill

‘Twas three days before the gov’t shutdown
And I’m at my desk
On page 54 of this 1,547 page mess.
The CR is garbage
Chocked full of carnage.
I’ll be a hard no
I won’t stoop that low.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

After what has just transpired, I don’t see how Mike Johnson can possibly keep his job.

But he insists that he is “not worried”

Johnson, though, said he is “not worried” about getting the support he needs to keep the gavel next year, adding he “certainly hope[s] and am working towards the majority of the majority” of the GOP conference supporting the CR.

“We’re governing. Everybody knows we have difficult circumstances. We’re doing the very best we can under those circumstances,” Johnson said.

When Barack Obama entered the White House, the national debt had just crossed the 10 trillion dollar mark.

Now we are 36 trillion dollars in debt, and this fiscal year is off to record start as far as piling up new debt is concerned.

The madness has got to stop.

We are literally committing national suicide, and even though our politicians fully understand this, they just can’t help themselves because they are completely and utterly addicted to spending.

The American people voted for DOGE, but they are getting PORK instead.

Our federal government is deeply broken, and we continue to add more than 200 million dollars to the national debt every single hour of every single day.

Why Is The Media Being So Quiet About The Radioactive Material That Has Gone Missing In New Jersey?

Something extremely strange has been happening in New Jersey, but the mainstream media has been eerily quiet about some of the most important threads of this story.  It turns out that an “air restriction alert” banned flights over Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, New Jersey for “special security reasons” from November 21st through December 26th.  Many people don’t realize this, but counter-terrorism drones have been getting tested at Picatinny for years.  In addition, we have learned that radioactive material was reported missing in New Jersey in early December.  The following comes directly from the official website of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission

AGREEMENT STATE REPORT – SOURCE LOST IN TRANSIT

The following information was provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) via email:

“The licensee reported to NJDEP on December 3, 2024, that a Ge-68 pin source that they sent for disposal has been lost in transit on December 2, 2024. The source is a Eckert & Ziegler model HEGL-0132, with current approximate activity of 0.267 mCi. The shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty. The licensee has filed a claim with the shipper. If the source is not located within the 30 days, the licensee will follow-up with a full written report to include root cause(s) and corrective actions.

“This event is reportable under 10 CFR 20.2201(a)(1)(ii).”

New Jersey Event Report ID number: To be determined

THIS MATERIAL EVENT CONTAINS A ‘Less than Cat 3’ LEVEL OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL

The big corporate news sources in the United States are saying very little about this.

But others are reporting about this incident.  For example, the following comes from a British news source

A piece of medical equipment used for cancer scans was shipped from the Nazha Cancer Center in Newfield on December 2 for disposal, but the ‘shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty.’

The device, known as a ‘pin source,’ contained a small amount of Germanium-68 (Ge-68) that is used to calibrate a medical scanner’s accuracy. If handled without proper gear, it can cause radiation poisoning.

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an alert for the missing shipment deemed ‘less than a Category 3,’ meaning it could cause permanent injury if mishandled.

A search for this radioactive material is being conducted.

In fact, Belleville Mayor Michael Melham has confirmed that New Jersey state police have issued an alert about the radioactive material that is missing.

So we know that radioactive material is missing in New Jersey.

And we know that law enforcement is involved in the search for that radioactive material.

Could it be possible that the drones that everybody is seeing are involved in that search as well?

According to the Daily Mail, counter-terrorism drones are developed and tested at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, New Jersey, and that base just happens to be very close to the area where the “mystery drones” were first seen last month…

Official records show the army has been developing and testing ‘counterterrorism’ drones in New Jersey for years, amid claims of a government cover-up.

A 2018 defense contract awarded $50 million to a private robotics company to develop craft capable of creating 3D maps of urban areas for a ‘counter weapons of mass destruction’ program.

The contract was given out by the Army’s Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC), which is located at the Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, New Jersey, where mystery drones were first reported last month.

And as I noted earlier, an “air restriction alert” has actually banned air traffic from flying over Picatinny from November 21st to December 26th

Meanwhile, documents show the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an air restriction alert on November 21 prohibiting flights over the Picatinny base for ‘special security reasons’ through December 26.

Armed with this new information, I think that we are a lot closer to solving this mystery.

But the Biden administration continues to insist that everything is just fine and that nothing unusual is going on…

With public pressure growing and concerned citizens filing a skein reports to authorities, White House national security spokesman John Kirby attempted to confront the fury.

He began his remarks to reporters Monday at a briefing by pointing to the proliferation of hobbyist drones over the sky.

‘There are more than 1 million drones that are lawfully registered with the Federal Aviation Administration here in the United States, and there are thousands of commercial hobbyists and law enforcement drones that are lawfully in the sky on any given day,’ Kirby told reporters.

If the Biden administration had any credibility left, they would certainly be losing it now.

This lost radioactive material is not a serious threat to anyone, and most of the drones that people are seeing are probably coming from Picatinny.

So why lie about it?

Of course they are lying about it because they don’t want people freaking out about “radioactive material”.

Whenever there is any sort of a crisis, the primary goal of the government is to keep people calm.

So we should never expect to get the truth.  Instead, we should expect them to tell us whatever they think will keep us docile.

But in this case, there was no need to lie.  The amount of radioactive material that was lost is so small that it probably won’t hurt anyone, and the public may be encouraged to hear that drones are out looking for it.

If they are going to tell really big lies about an incident that is quite insignificant, what would they be willing to do if we were facing a major threat?

As global events get really crazy in 2025 and beyond, the American people will desperately need accurate sources of information.

Unfortunately, our government is in the habit of lying to us, and most of the time the mainstream media happily goes along with those lies.

Bird Flu Mutation Raises Pandemic Red Flags

In a recent study, researchers found that a single alteration in a protein on the surface of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 virus could significantly increase its potential for human-to-human transmission. Unsurprisingly enough, the study into bird flu mutation was funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH).

The H5N1 virus is currently present in United States dairy cows and has been circulating for some time now. The outcome of the study “highlights” the need for mass surveillance according to the NIH, which is a government entity attempting to control the slave class.

A Single Mutation Could Cause Bird Flu To Become Transmissible Between Humans

At present, the bovine (cow) H5N1 virus is not capable of human-to-human transmission. However, infections have been documented in individuals exposed to infected wild birds, poultry, dairy cows, and other mammals. As part of global pandemic preparedness efforts, researchers have long studied H5N1 to track natural genetic mutations and assess their potential impact on transmissibility. –SciTechDaily

Scientists have known for at least a few months (most likely much longer) what exact mutation would be needed for the bird flu to make its jump to humans.  So far, the media is paling into this as well saying that the U.S. isn’t doing enough to stop this outbreak from becoming a human plandemic.

Scientists at Scripps Research used the H5N1 strain isolated from the first U.S. human infection with the bovine strain 2.3.4.4b (A/Texas/37/2024) to test how mutations in the HA gene sequence affected the binding of that protein with avian versus human-type cell receptors.

According to SciTechDaily, the researchers introduced several mutations into the viral HA protein that had been observed to occur naturally in the past and found that one mutation, called Q226L, improved the ability of the protein to attach to receptors typically found on human cells, especially when an additional mutation was present. Importantly, the researchers introduced the genetic mutations only into the HA surface protein and did not create or conduct experiments with a whole, infectious virus.

This is a conflict of interest, considering the research was funded in part by NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), through its Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Response program.  The ruling class agency is looking for a particular outcome, and they likely have found it.

Rulers Begin to Establish A “Bird Flu” Narrative

This is taking a lot longer than the COVID-19 scamdemic to roll out completely.

“Falling Off A Cliff”: This Chart Proves That We Are In A Major Economic Downturn Right Now

The number of job openings in the United States has been “falling off a cliff”, and that is a major red flag.  The last four years have been an economic nightmare for most Americans, and that is one of the primary reasons why Donald Trump won the election.  But as we approach 2025, things are starting to get frighteningly bad.  When the number of job openings in the U.S. drops by 2 million or more, that normally signals that we are either in a recession or that one is about to happen.  Well, as you can see from this chart that was posted by Bravos Research on Twitter, we are witnessing a collapse in job openings that is absolutely unprecedented…

I was floored when I saw that chart.

I knew that job openings were falling, but I didn’t know that things had gotten this bad.

Not too long ago, there were about 12 million job openings in the United States.  Unfortunately, here in the second half of 2024 that figure has fallen below 8 million

There were an estimated 7.4 million unfilled jobs on the last day of September, a drop from August’s revised tally of 7.86 million openings, according to new data released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The largest drop-offs in openings were in industries that have driven much of the job growth in recent years: health care and social assistance, and government, according to the report.

Meanwhile, major employers continue to shed workers all over the nation.

For example, the U.S. lost a total of 78,000 manufacturing jobs during a recent three month period…

The manufacturing sector continued to shed jobs in October, bringing its tally of job losses to 78,000 over the past three months.

The Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday released its jobs report for October, which found that the manufacturing sector lost 46,000 jobs last month, according to the agency’s preliminary analysis.

That followed a loss of 6,000 jobs in September, which is also a preliminary figure, as well as a decline of 26,000 jobs in August.

Every day, there are more layoff announcements in the news, and the number of people filing initial claims for unemployment benefits increased much more than experts were projecting last week

The number of Americans filing for jobless benefits for the first time jumped significantly last week (from 225k to 242k – well above expectations of 220k) – the highest since the first week of October.

On an un-adjusted basis, claims exploded higher (highest since January)…

Throughout the second half of this year, I have been arguing that the U.S. economy is rapidly heading in the wrong direction.

Now we have even more confirmation that this is indeed happening.

Once we get past the holiday season, retailers are going to be dropping like flies.

According to the Daily Mail, it appears that Party City could soon be forced to declare bankruptcy…

A major party and craft retailer with 850 stores across the nation is considering filing for bankruptcy.

Party City has been faced with the possibility of mass closures just a little over a year after the company surfaced from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The celebration retailer, known for selling balloons and essential party supplies, is currently behind on rent at some of its locations, people close to the matter told Bloomberg.

And it is being reported that 670 Family Dollar stores have already been shut down

Discount behemoth Dollar Tree has shuttered 670 of its underperforming Family Dollar stores so far, about two-thirds of the nearly 1,000 it plans to close, as it considers whether to sell or spin off the struggling chain.

The Chesapeake, Virginia-based retailer provided an update on its portfolio optimization efforts when it reported is fiscal third-quarter earnings. Dollar Tree officials also said they were still reviewing options for Family Dollar, with no set deadline or timeline to complete that process.

Overall, thousands upon thousands of retail stores in the U.S. have been shuttered in 2024, and thousands upon thousands will be shuttered in 2025.

In many areas of the country, the landscape is absolutely littered with once thriving businesses that have now been boarded up.

More than a decade ago, I warned that we were headed for a future when impoverished areas of the U.S. would be filled with boarded up businesses and abandoned buildings.

Now we are there.

On top of everything else, inflation is starting to surge once again, and one recent survey discovered that about a third of all U.S. households have been forced to cut back spending just to keep the lights on

With the cost of things like food and housing still straining people’s budgets, many U.S. households over the past year have found themselves having to pare their spending on basic necessities just to keep the lights on at home.

That’s according to a recent Lending Tree study which analyzed U.S. Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey data from Aug. 20, 2024 to Sep. 16, 2024 to find the percentage of Americans 18 and older that had cut back on necessary expenses to pay their energy bill, kept their home at an unsafe or unhealthy temperature, or was unable to pay the full amount on an energy bill at least once over the preceding 12 months.

The study found that more than 34% of respondents said they have had to cut back or skip spending on certain necessary expenses at least once over the past year in order to pay their energy bill.

As I discussed the other day, prior to the election most Americans believed that we were already in a recession.

Since the election, conditions have only gotten worse.

Many are hoping that our economic momentum can be reversed once the new administration takes over.

We should all be hoping that is true.

But right now we are on a freight train that is steamrolling in the wrong direction, and that is not good news at all.

The Only Thing That Stands Between Us And Nuclear War Is Donald Trump

The Russians keep warning us that launching long-range missiles provided by NATO into Russia could spark a nuclear war, but that hasn’t done any good.  In fact, more ATACMS missiles provided by the United States were just fired at the Russian city of Taganrog.  By approving these long-range missile strikes, Joe Biden has literally brought us to the brink of nuclear war.  Thankfully, there is one thing that is preventing Russia from unleashing a nuclear apocalypse right now.  The Russians are counting down the days to the inauguration of Donald Trump, because they see him as the last best hope for peace.  The Russians would very much prefer to avoid a nuclear confrontation, and they have been greatly encouraged by what Trump has been saying about the war in Ukraine.  But if the Russians ultimately conclude that there is no way to avoid an all-out war between our two nations after negotiating with Trump, all bets are off.

While most Americans are focused on holiday festivities, events on the other side of the globe threaten to spiral out of control.

The Russians are telling us that they will “definitely” respond to the long-range missile attack on the city of Taganrog…

The Kremlin said Thursday it would “definitely” respond to a Ukrainian attack on a military airfield in its south that used U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia would respond to the ATACMS strike on a military airfield in the southern city of Taganrog, in the Rostov region.

President Vladimir Putin has previously threatened to launch Russia’s new hypersonic ballistic missile, named Oreshnik, at the center of Kyiv if Ukraine does not halt its attacks on Russian territory with U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles.

I don’t even want to think about what an Oreshnik missile could do to the center of the city of Kiev.

That would be a major escalation, and so let us hope that it does not happen.

But the Biden administration is warning that the Russians appear to be gearing up to launch another Oreshnik soon…

A U.S. official said on Wednesday that Russia could launch another hypersonic ballistic missile in Ukraine in the coming days, but Washington does not consider the Oreshnik weapon a game-changer in the war.

The good news is that the Russians are not going to use nuclear weapons at this stage.

Before they cross that threshold, they want to talk with Trump first to see if something can be worked out.

On Thursday, Trump was named Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year”

Donald Trump once publicly speculated that Time would never name him the news magazine’s “Person of the Year.”

Now, the honor has been bestowed on him twice.

Time on Thursday named Trump as this year’s choice, recognizing the president-elect as the individual or group deemed to have wielded the greatest influence on global affairs “for good or for ill.” To celebrate the unveiling of the magazine cover, Trump will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, a source familiar with the matter told CNN. Trump sat for a wide-ranging interview with the magazine last month.

During his interview with Time Magazine, Trump had quite a bit to say about the war in Ukraine.

In fact, he specifically stated that it was a “foolish decision” for Joe Biden to authorize long-range missile strikes deep into Russia…

Joe Biden’s decision to permit Ukraine to use American-supplied long-range missiles on targets inside Russia was “foolish” and a “major escalation” in the conflict, according to President-elect Donald Trump.

“Anything can happen. Anything can happen. It’s a very volatile situation,” President-elect Trump said of the Ukraine conflict in an interview with Time on November 25, published on Thursday. “I think the most dangerous thing right now is what’s happening, where [Volodymyr] Zelensky has decided, with the approval of, I assume, the president, to start shooting missiles into Russia. I think that’s a major escalation. I think it’s a foolish decision.”

For those of us that are hopeful that a nuclear war can be avoided, those are really good words to hear.

In addition, Trump also told Time Magazine that he personally disagrees “very vehemently” with what Biden has decided to do…

“I disagree very vehemently with sending missiles hundreds of miles into Russia,” Trump said in his interview with Time. “Why are we doing that? We’re just escalating this war and making it worse. That should not have been allowed to be done.”

I think that it is clear that Trump wants to work out something with the Russians.

But will that be possible?

Our European allies definitely do not want this war to end.  In fact, the secretary general of NATO just warned that “we are not ready for what is coming”, and he is urging western countries to prepare for war with Russia.

In Washington D.C., most members of Congress on both sides of the aisle do not want this war to end either.  They want to keep fighting until Ukraine has won, but that simply is not going to happen.

Right now the Russians are gobbling up territory faster than they have since the early days of the conflict, and as long as they hold the “strategic initiative” they will not have an incentive to end the war until all of their goals have been achieved…

It’s a feature of our days that the Intelligence heads of the great powers have been acting in a quasi-diplomatic function, stepping out of the shadows of the world of espionage to engage in open discussion of the issues.

That applies to CIA’s director Burns, the Ukrainian Budanov, and also to Russia’s spy chief, Sergei Naryshkin.

Heading Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SRV), the current incarnation of the famous (and infamous) KBG, Naryshkin has said that Russia is ‘close to achieving all its war goals and holds the strategic initiative in all areas of the war.’

The Russians have been publicly telling us that in order for the war to end Ukraine must forget about joining NATO and there cannot be any NATO forces on Ukrainian soil when the conflict is over.

On the other side, the Ukrainians are insisting on being allowed to join NATO when the war has concluded, and they want a very large contingent of western troops on Ukrainian soil in order to prevent the Russians from invading again.

I don’t see how that gap can be bridged any time soon.

In addition, the Russians say that they want to keep all of the territory that they have captured, and that is a non-starter for the Ukrainians.

The Ukrainians are acting as if they still have a chance to win this war, but that doesn’t make sense.  According to ABC News, about a million Ukrainian soldiers have died since the war began.  It is also being reported that “hundreds of thousands” of soldiers have lost limbs.  Ukrainian forces are completely worn out, and they are losing more ground with each passing day.

The only way that the Ukrainians could win this war would be for NATO to get directly involved in fighting Russia.

As I have repeatedly warned, once we are in a direct war with Russia it is just a matter of time before it goes nuclear.

For now, Donald Trump is the only thing standing between us and nuclear war.

Will he be able to successfully negotiate with the Russians and bring this horrible ordeal to an end?

We better hope so, because at this moment we are closer to nuclear war than we have ever been before.

What Are Battle Belts and Chest Rigs?

Before diving into the comparison, let’s define what we’re talking about.

Battle Belt

A battle belt, sometimes called a war belt or load-bearing belt, is a heavy-duty belt designed to carry essential gear like holsters, mag pouches, med kits, and other accessories.

These belts are built for durability, modularity, and ease of access. They’re a core piece of equipment for military, law enforcement, and preparedness enthusiasts alike.

Chest Rig

A chest rig is a lightweight harness worn on the torso, equipped with pouches and compartments to hold gear.

Originally designed for carrying ammunition, modern chest rigs have evolved to accommodate radios, medical supplies, survival tools, and more.

They’re popular among preppers, outdoorsmen, and tactical operators who need high-capacity, chest-level storage.

Now that we know what they are, let’s break down the key aspects of each.

Accessibility: The Gear You Need, When You Need It

Battle Belt

Accessibility is a standout feature of the battle belt.

Gear is carried around the waist, making it quick and easy to grab essential items like extra mags, a sidearm, or a first-aid kit.

Your hands naturally fall to your waist, so retrieving items from a battle belt is almost instinctive.

However, accessibility can depend on how much gear you’re carrying.

Overloading a battle belt can make it cumbersome, slowing down your ability to retrieve items.

It’s crucial to strike a balance between carrying essential gear and maintaining ease of use.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs also provide solid accessibility but in a different way.

Gear is positioned on your chest, making it easy to see what you’re grabbing—especially in low-light situations.

This visual accessibility can be a game-changer in high-stress environments.

That said, reaching items on your chest can be slower and less intuitive than on a battle belt.

The more loaded your rig, the harder it may be to quickly access gear in tight quarters or when prone.

Winner: Tie. Battle belts excel in natural accessibility, while chest rigs shine in visibility and organization.

Comfort: Staying Mobile for the Long Haul

Battle Belt

Battle belts are designed to distribute weight around your hips, which is generally more ergonomic for extended wear.

If adjusted properly, they’re less likely to cause fatigue or strain.

However, adding too much weight can lead to discomfort, especially if the belt shifts during movement.

One downside is compatibility with tactical backpacks.

A heavy-duty pack can interfere with a battle belt, causing pinching or restricting movement.

It’s worth considering if your setup involves carrying a rucksack for extended periods.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs, on the other hand, keep your waist free, which is a significant advantage when paired with a heavy backpack.

The weight is distributed across your shoulders and chest, making it easier to carry additional loads on your back.

However, long-term wear can lead to shoulder fatigue, especially with a heavily loaded rig.

Ventilation is another concern; chest rigs can trap heat and cause sweating, which can be uncomfortable in hot climates.

Winner: Depends on your loadout and mission.

For heavy backpacking, a chest rig wins.

For extended wear without a pack, the battle belt takes the lead.

Modularity: Building a System That Works for You

Battle Belt

Modularity is where battle belts shine.

They’re designed to work with MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) systems, allowing you to attach various pouches, holsters, and accessories. This versatility lets you customize your setup to suit your mission.

You can also pair a battle belt with suspenders or a harness for added stability.

This flexibility makes it a favorite for those who want a minimalist setup that can expand as needed.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs are equally modular but in a different way.

Many chest rigs come with built-in pouches and compartments, which can simplify your loadout.

They’re also MOLLE-compatible, so you can add or rearrange gear to fit your needs.

One advantage of chest rigs is their ability to integrate with plate carriers.

This combination provides both storage and ballistic protection, making it a go-to choice for tactical operators and serious preppers.

Winner:

Tie. Both systems are highly modular, offering endless customization options.

Load Capacity: How Much Can You Carry?

Battle Belt

Battle belts are designed for lighter, more essential loadouts.

They’re perfect for carrying sidearms, spare mags, a med kit, and a few tools.

However, they’re not ideal for carrying larger or bulkier items.

If you try to overload a battle belt, you’ll quickly feel the strain.

Excessive weight can cause the belt to shift or sag, impacting comfort and mobility.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs have a higher load capacity compared to battle belts.

They’re built to carry multiple mags, radios, survival gear, and more.

If your mission requires a heavy loadout, a chest rig will likely serve you better.

That said, a heavily loaded chest rig can become unwieldy and tiring to wear.

Balance is key—overloading your rig can compromise both comfort and accessibility.

Winner:

Chest rig. Its higher capacity makes it the better choice for gear-intensive missions.

Mobility: Moving Through the Field

Battle Belt

One of the biggest advantages of a battle belt is its low-profile design.

It doesn’t restrict your upper body, allowing for full range of motion.

Whether climbing, running, or crawling, a battle belt won’t get in your way.

However, it’s worth noting that a poorly fitted belt can cause issues. If it’s too loose, it may shift during movement.

If it’s too tight, it can dig into your hips.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs can restrict mobility, especially if they’re overloaded. Crawling or going prone can be uncomfortable, and the bulk on your chest may get in the way when maneuvering through tight spaces.

That said, chest rigs excel in environments where staying upright is key, such as urban settings or dense forests.

Winner: Battle belt. Its low-profile design offers superior mobility.

Durability: Built to Last

Battle Belt

Battle belts are made to withstand heavy use and harsh conditions.

They’re typically constructed from durable materials like nylon and reinforced stitching, ensuring they hold up over time.

Chest Rig

Chest rigs are equally durable, designed to endure rugged environments and frequent use.

Like battle belts, they’re often made from high-quality materials and feature reinforced seams.

Winner:

Tie. Both systems are built for durability.

Historical Context: Lessons From the Past

Battle belts and chest rigs both have deep roots in military history.

Battle Belts

Battle belts trace back to the load-bearing equipment used by soldiers in World War I and II.

These early designs were simple but effective, allowing soldiers to carry essential gear within arm’s reach.

Chest Rigs

Chest rigs gained prominence during the Vietnam War, where they were favored by Viet Cong fighters for their ability to carry ample ammunition and supplies.

The design has since evolved, becoming a staple for modern tactical operations.

Winner:

Tie. Both systems have proven their worth on the battlefield.

Recommendations:

  • Choose a Battle Belt if you value mobility, lightweight gear, and simplicity. It’s an excellent option for hiking, short missions, or when paired with a backpack.
  • Opt for a Chest Rig if you need to carry extensive tactical equipment, require more storage, or plan to integrate it with body armor.

The Bottom Line: Battle Belt vs. Chest Rig

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer when deciding between a battle belt and a chest rig.

Each system has strengths and weaknesses; the best choice depends on your needs.

  • Choose a Battle Belt if: You prioritize mobility, ease of access, and a lightweight setup. It’s ideal for minimalist load-outs and environments where speed and agility are key.
  • Choose a Chest Rig if: You need to carry a larger loadout, work in conjunction with a backpack, or operate in environments where staying upright is essential.
  • Or Combine Both: For maximum versatility, consider using both systems together. A battle belt can carry essential gear, while a chest rig handles bulkier items. This combo provides the best of both worlds.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to your mission, environment, and personal preferences.

Revolver Vs Semi Auto: Which Is Best For Concealed Carry?

Revolver vs Semi AutoToday, I want to discuss the pros and cons of carrying a revolver versus a semi-auto.

That way, you can make an informed decision on this hotly debated topic.

Are there any Breaking Bad fans out there?

“If five rounds won’t get the job done, you’re into spray and pray, and another six isn’t likely to seal the deal. You can’t get more dependable than a wheel gun.”

Do you recognize those words of wisdom imparted to Walter White just before he bought his snub-nose 38 Special?

So maybe you’re considering your handgun choices for daily concealed carry, and the revolver has captured your eye.

You’re drawn to the simplicity, ruggedness, reliability, ergonomics, and even beauty of a wheel gun – but do they make good carry weapons?

In a day when most folks carry semi-autos with up to fifteen double-stacked rounds of 9 mm – what good is a five-shot revolver?

Actually, the revolver is a very good choice.

Prepper Checklist eBook Cover - with gas mask on a SHTF scenery background

    The Reliable Revolver…

One issue with semi autos is that they must be kept pristine and oiled to prevent their bad tendencies such as jamming during feeding or stove piping during extraction.

A little powder residue goes a long way to gumming up your semi-auto.

Suddenly, your fifteen-round 9mm becomes a single-shot weapon, while the small-frame revolver still has four more rounds.

Revolvers can take a little powder residue and still function.

In fact, it takes quite a bit of carbon build-up to jam up a revolver.

If you do not keep your weapons in a pristine condition (and you know who you are), you need to fight the urge to invest in weapons that require this level of care.

Or they may fail to function when your life depends on it.

Personally, I wouldn’t carry any weapon for self-protection in a dirty or neglected condition – make it a rugged revolver.

And it’s something to think about when it comes to survival guns

    One word of caution:

I’ve often heard the advantage of a revolver is if you have a misfire you can pull the trigger again to move another round into position for firing, unlike a semi-auto, where you will have to slide the rack.

This is true. However, keep in mind that if the revolver fails to fire because of a slow primer and you rotate the cylinder into the next position, you run the risk of an explosion.

Pulling the trigger again moves a dud out of the way, but a hang-fire may result in an out-of-battery explosion, destroying the gun and whatever human parts happen to be in the way of the flying metal.

Again, it’s nice to have a double stack of 9mms, but you have to hit the target.

And – by the way – we talk a lot about 15-round capacities and double-stacked magazines, but let’s get real for a moment.

These full-frame pistols conceal carry with all the subtlety of an ISIS pick-up truck.

    Revolver vs Semi-Auto Accuracy

Many semi-autos suffer from accuracy issues due to several factors.

During firing, the explosion of gases from the cartridge forces the slide rearward, extracting the spent cartridge on the recoil and grabbing a new cartridge from the magazine during the return to battery.

The bullet is moving down the barrel when the recoil begins.

This recoil consists of a mass of metal slamming rearward.

The vibration and jolting forces imparted to the shooter’s hand and the barrel itself during this recoil can shift the barrel’s alignment slightly, especially in guns with “floating” barrels or barrels that are not fixed.

Floating barrels are used on higher-power locked-breeched pistols.

This is due to the higher chamber pressures associated with them. The barrel locks into the slide by pressure until the pressure drops enough to unlock and allow the slide to function.

This is necessary for the safe operation of the pistol.

Without this locking breech function, the higher chamber pressures would slam the slide backward hard enough to damage it and possibly cause the cartridge to explode rather than contain the pressure until the bullet leaves the barrel.

This locking and unlocking of the barrel causes a very slight movement in barrel alignment as it locks and unlocks.

The sights on a semi-auto pistol are also integral to the slide, the large moving part of the weapon, rather than a fixed barrel.

Another problem with the 9mm semi-auto accuracy is the people who shoot them. When you have over a dozen rounds in a fast-firing semi-auto, you tend to spray and pray.

This is what occurs when you read about those cases of gunfights where dozens of rounds were shot from near point-blank ranges by both parties, and neither was hit – or several bystanders were hit by accident.

    handgun and ammunition

Spraying And Praying Is A Quick Way To Die

Any self-defense instructor worth their salt will tell you that you bring the weapon up and out so you are looking down the sights while firing – unless you are in very close quarters – like knife fighting close quarters.

The sights are there to aim the weapon – use them – and learn to use them quickly.

Having only five rounds in your weapon forces you to consider the value of each shot, and you may aim accordingly.

So maybe you’ve heard revolvers are inherently accurate. Revolvers have fixed sights integral to the barrel – which is also integral to the frame.

They do not move – at all.

Firing a single action, the revolver’s accuracy does not suffer from jolts and vibrations of a recoiling mass of metal or a floating or tilting barrel.

That being said, although there are no moving parts subject to the forces of recoil, the weapon’s recoil is more easily felt when firing a revolver.

The recoil, or kick, tends to be absorbed by the moving mass of the slide in a semi-auto, so the shooter doesn’t feel the kick as much as in a revolver.

The actual energy of the explosion is the same, but due to the motion of the slide and return spring, the force is distributed over more distance and time, reducing the “impact” of the recoil.

    The big difference is this:

The recoil might feel larger in a revolver, but the gun itself is rock solid, and the barrel alignment is not affected by any mechanical forces in the weapon’s action.

By the time the recoil moves the weapon into the shooter’s hand, the bullet has already left the barrel.

Old military instructors tell us to “just let the barrel rise on the recoil. Don’t fight it.”

If you try to anticipate the recoil of a revolver, you’ll wind up pushing the barrel downward and shooting low.

    Some trade-offs exist:

More weapon movement in a semi-auto but more felt recoil in a revolver.

    How Do We Fix This?

Simple. Leave your .44 Magnum at home and carry a 38 Special.

There is very little recoil from these cartridges, but you still get 158 grains of copper flying death at 850-1000 feet per second or more.

If you want no recoil – go with a .22 LR or, even better, the .22 Magnum – usually in a revolver with 8 shots.

Yes, small bullets, but more of them. And no recoil and pretty darn good accuracy.

    Still, I’m not a .22 man, myself.

Maybe it’s because my mother carries a .22 LR revolver…

    concealed carry gun behind back

    Let’s Consider Concealed Carry

Revolvers, while having rounded edges, are straight-up fatter weapons.

The geometry of the revolver is simple: it has to be wide enough to accommodate the width of three bullets, the one in firing position and essentially one on each side of the circle, as well as the thickness of steel designed to contain the pressure of the explosion.

The traditional six-shooter is not a good conceal-carry weapon—the cylinder is just too big. So manufacturers solved the problem by dropping a bullet and reducing the spacing, making for a smaller cylinder.

Note: this doesn’t apply to the .22 caliber revolvers.

The bullets and chamber pressure make for a small cylinder. But if you want any power approaching an equivalent 9mm Luger, you can only have five shots, traditionally in 38 Special or .357 Magnum.

Single stack 9mm semi-autos can be very thin by comparison.

Now, remember my previous comments?  I’m not talking about the full-framed 15-round Wonder-Nines.

I’m talking the 6-7 shot single stack weapons, like my Walther PPK , a Smith and Wesson Body Guard , or a Kimber Micro 9.

These semi-autos are thin and conceal better than a comparable revolver.

They don’t print nearly as easily and are more comfortable to carry.

Comfortable” is a very relative term in the concealed carry business, equating to almost anywhere on the body.

Such as in the waistband, small of the back, ankle holster, etc.

The only place it doesn’t have an advantage in this regard is in a woman’s purse.

You notice, though, if talking about a single stack 9mm or .380 auto, you’re talking about a six-shot magazine and maybe one more in the pipe.

Not that much more than the revolver.

The risk/reward of this is two extra shots balanced against a possible failure to feed or failure to extract.

Now, What About Single Versus Double Action?

Revolvers with exposed hammers can be fired either single or double action.

Single action means you have to cock the hammer.

The advantage here is the single-action trigger pull is usually less than 4 lbs. and your beefy finger won’t pull the weapon off target during a heavy trigger pull.

Double action means the hammer is not cocked, or you have a striker-fired weapon, and the trigger pull itself cocks and fires the weapon in a single stroke.

The trigger pull of a DAO semi-auto is definitely heavier than that of a single-action revolver, but it is also typically much less than that of a double-action revolver.

In a revolver, that double action has to pull back the hammer and rotate the cylinder, and it can be a hefty pull, throwing off your aim.

So here’s the Catch-22: single action, a quality revolver’s accuracy is hard to beat. However, when shot with double action, it’s probably worse than any semi-auto using double action only.

To be fair, though, many SA/DA semi-autos with exposed hammers have heavy double-action pulls for that first shot. The trigger pull has to cock the hammer.

That first shot racks the slide and re-cocks the hammer so that the follow-up shot will have a very light single-action pull.

On the other hand, some DAO semi-autos, like Glocks, are striker-fired, and their double-action trigger pulls are pretty darn light.

I don’t like them. The trigger pull just doesn’t feel right to me, but many people like them and they can be very accurate in the right hands.

    Just not my hands.

    The Question: What’s Your Technique?

Are you going to fire single action or double?

But what about exposed hammers versus guarded hammers on a revolver?

Some small-frame carry revolvers have guarded hammers. The hammers are only visible when “staging” the trigger.

This involves applying slow, gradual pressure to the trigger to rotate the cylinder and slowly bring the hammer back.

You can be more accurate in that first shot if you see the hammer move. You’ll have a feel for when it will break.

Supposedly, they designed these weapons in this manner to avoid the exposed hammer catching on the insides of a woman’s purse or perhaps in a jacket pocket.

    Personally, I wouldn’t own one.

To me, they are great Mafia guns… perfect for jamming a pistol into someone’s stomach in a dense subway crowd.

Or for Michael Corleone to shoot the cop eating spaghetti across the table from him.

This Begs The Question: In What State Are You Going To Carry?

By state, I don’t mean New York, Texas, or Tennessee – I mean the state of the weapon.

If you have a revolver, it’s a no-brainer. You will have five rounds in the cylinder – one of which is always in firing position.

Most revolvers have no safety. If you don’t want to shoot – don’t pull the trigger.

Modern revolvers also have an internal safety bar which prevents the firing pin from striking the primer if you drop the gun right on the hammer.

They basically block the firing pin unless you cock it.

Now, you could carry it with the hammer cocked if you want to blow your foot off. With the hammer cocked – that trigger pull gets really light.

    But What About Semi-Autos?

It depends on the design of your weapon and your personal choice. Some people carry a bullet in the chamber; others carry an empty chamber.

    • If you carry one in the pipe, you increase your capacity from six shots to seven.
    • If you carry with an empty chamber you’ll have to slide the rack when you draw.

Some people are comfortable with this, others not so much.

My little Kel-tec .380 semi-auto has no safety. It relies on a double action pull to act as a safety.

I carry it with the chamber empty.

My Walther PPK .380 is both single and double action.

I can load a round into the chamber then hit the decocker/safety lever.

This little lever decocks the hammer and blocks it from the trigger.

When drawn, I simply flip the little lever up, taking the safety off, and then I have two choices.

I can either manually cock the hammer, giving me a very light trigger pull, or I can just squeeze the trigger harder, and the hammer will cock and fire double action.

I carry this one with one in the chamber and six in the magazine, with the decocker/safety engaged.

Many double-action only semi-autos are carried with a round in the pipe and the safety on.

Flip off the safety, and you are ready to rock and roll. No need to rack the slide again and no hammer to cock – these have internal strikers.

Some semi-autos allow for the cocked and locked condition.

This means there is a round in the chamber, the hammer is cocked fullback, but the safety lever, usually flipped up, simply blocks the trigger and prevents the fall of the hammer.

In this configuration, the weapon can be drawn, the lever flipped down and the trigger pulled immediately in single action.

Many people carry this way. Many do not.

Some people aren’t comfortable carrying a cocked weapon, even with the safety engaged.

    Which Is Right For You?

So there are lots of choices.

    • Revolver vs semi-auto?
    • Caliber? Single action, double action, or both?
    • Exposed hammer, guarded hammer, or striker fired?
    • Carry with chamber full or chamber empty?
    • Decocker? Cocked and locked?

Then, of course, where are you going to carry it?

    • Purse? Ankle?
    • In the waistband?
    • Out of the waistband?
    • Small of the back? In a pocket?

Based on my comments above, you are probably wondering why I don’t carry a revolver if I love them so much.

For me, I like the slim, easy-to-carry outline of my Walther—as well as the extra two shots.

But the  little Smith and Wesson Airweight is perfect for a purse.

It boils down to what is right for YOU.

What are you comfortable with? You need to be comfortable with the mode of carry and confident in the manipulation and operation of the firearm.

Any or all of these choices are valid, but you must find the optimum combination for you.

Are We Being Invaded? Mysterious ‘Drone Clusters’ Have Been Hovering Over New Jersey, New York And Philadelphia

Why have groups of large, unidentified “mystery drones” been flying over New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania at night?  Some of the “mystery drones” are the size of a car, but government officials seem to have no idea what they are or where they came from.  Since this has been happening on a nightly basis since the middle of November, you would think that the most advanced military in the world would have been able to get a really good look at these “mystery drones” by now.  But that hasn’t happened.  In fact, there have been unconfirmed reports that when our aircraft approach these “mystery drones” they simply go dark and disappear.

Honestly, I don’t know what to make of all of this.

The more I dig into this, the weirder it gets.

According to Fox News, the sightings originally began in Morris County, New Jersey

Mysterious drones continue to be reported flying overhead in New Jersey, as residents remain without answers as to why there have been so many drone sightings.

The drones were reportedly first seen over Morris County, New Jersey, in mid-November. Drones have since been observed regularly across the Garden State, including a recent uptick in Middlesex County and other areas in the state.

One family in Morris County is actually claiming that the time on the clock in their vehicle actually changed as one of the drones hovered above them…

A swarm of mysterious drone sightings near President-Elect Donald Trump’s New Jersey Bedminster golf club continue to baffle local residents, with some now reporting strange changes to their clocks.

As reported by Fox News, one family in Morris County, who followed a drone in their car, said that as the drone hovered above them, their car’s clock changed time and only returned to normal as they drove off.

Other eyewitnesses described the drones as being as big as small cars and incredibly loud, likening the cluster of drones to a “parade.”

    How can we explain this?

At this stage, government officials are taking this phenomenon very seriously.  New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy is telling us that even the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has gotten involved in the investigation…

Murphy said he had held a briefing with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness and New Jersey State Police to discuss the drone sightings.

The FBI is investigating the sightings and have urged the public to report any drones they see.

If the drones belong to us, there would be no reason for the Department of Homeland Security to be looking into this.

To me, the response by the feds definitely indicates that something is up.

According to one law enforcement official in New Jersey, groups of drones have been spotted hovering over “water reservoirs, electric transmission lines, rail stations, police departments, and military installations”…

‘Water reservoirs, electric transmission lines, rail stations, police departments, and military installations’ have all had the UFOs roaming above them in recent weeks, according to the chief of police for the New Jersey borough of Florham Park.

‘Their presence appears nefarious in nature,’ the police chief added.

If these drones are flying above very sensitive facilities, and if their behavior really is “nefarious in nature”, that should deeply alarm all of us.

    Are we being invaded?

Or could it be possible that preparations are being made for some other sort of hostile action?

49 drone sightings were reported on Sunday alone.  Footage of one of those sightings is being called “the clearest video yet”

Yesterday, new footage of at least five or possibly six of the unidentified drones was captured in a 50-second cell phone video in New Jersey, which one commenter declared was ‘the clearest video yet.’

One drone, heard roaring in the skies as it moved through the darkness, appeared to have a cluster of white lights on its underbelly and red lights blinking at the tips of its wings and tail.

Another drone came into frame that resembled a classic ‘black triangle’ UFO or the triangular TR-3B, which beamed bright white lights from its nose, wingtips and tail.

In addition to their nightly visits to New Jersey, groups of mystery drones have also been seen over New York

Mysterious drones have now been spotted over Staten Island with local politicians now urging the federal government to help provide answers.

Staten Islanders reported seeing the bright-light-bearing drones in the night sky over the island on Thursday, the Staten Island Advance reports.

One such sighting was made by former Air Force Sergeant Walter Ziegler, of New Springville, who viewed the drones with binoculars from his apartment window, the Advance reports.

And groups of mystery drones have also been spotted over the Philadelphia area

Large drones, or unidentified flying objects that bear a resemblance to drones, have been spotted in the skies over the greater Philadelphia area, according to numerous social media reports and media sources. It’s the latest in a string of similar sightings that have occurred in New Jersey in recent days and sparked rumors and conspiracy theories across the Internet.

The drones, some of them as large as cars, appeared throughout the night Sunday night and into Monday morning.

Accounts on X shared footage from Yardley, Lower Merion, northern Bucks County, and more, while 6ABC reports sightings in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and Broomall in Delaware County.

These drones are doing whatever they want over U.S. airspace, and it appears that our military can’t do anything about it.

What does that say about our military?

Interestingly, the Pentagon has just “unveiled a new counter-drone strategy”

The Pentagon unveiled a new counter-drone strategy after a spate of incursions near U.S. bases prompted concerns over a lack of an action plan for the increasing threat of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Though much of the strategy remains classified, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will implement a new counter-drone office within the Pentagon – Joint Counter-Small UAS Office – and a new Warfighter Senior Integration Group, according to a new memo.

Hopefully we will soon learn what these drones are and who is responsible for sending them.

Because the fact that unidentified aircraft are freely roaming our skies is simply not acceptable.

Of course there have been many other unidentified objects in our skies in recent years, and we have never gotten solid answers regarding those either.

We are far more vulnerable than most people realize.

If unauthorized drones can hover above New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia without fear of getting intercepted, the same technology could potentially be used to deliver weapons of unimaginable destructive power when the time is right.

America’s Middle Class In 2024: Aging Vehicles, $300 Carts Of Groceries, And Mountains Of Credit Card Debt

Have things been getting better for the middle class, or have things been getting worse?  Needless to say, the answer to that question is obvious.  The cost of living is absolutely crushing us, we can’t afford to replace our rapidly aging vehicles, debt levels are exploding, and the proportion of the country that is living paycheck to paycheck has been steadily rising.  Our economy is a mess, and America’s middle class is getting smaller and smaller.  Sometimes I feel like I am watching a very tragic version of musical chairs.  If you are still holding on to your chair, you should be very thankful, because more people are slipping out of the middle class and into poverty with each passing day.

If you are old enough, you can still remember a time when many middle class families would purchase a new vehicle every few years.

Sadly, today most of us are being forced to get as much mileage out of our rapidly aging vehicles as we possibly can.  As a result, the average age of the passenger vehicles traveling America’s roads has reached an all-time record high

This should be the best of times for the people who help keep America’s cars running.

There have never been as many on the road—around 290 million light vehicles—and they have never been so old. One reason for that is good news: They are better made. Getting the odometer past 100,000 miles has gone from being noteworthy to normal. Thirty years ago the average passenger car was about 8.4 years old and today that is 13.6 years.

Even keeping our aging vehicles repaired has become exceedingly difficult.

These days, if the mechanic hands you a repair bill for less than a thousand dollars that is a reason to celebrate.

In the old days, you could get a really nice used vehicle for a thousand dollars.

Of course groceries have become insanely expensive as well.  Earlier today, I came across a USA Today article that discussed the fact that the average household in Miami spends 327 dollars at the grocery store per trip…

Many longtime Miamians say they’ve felt this way since the pandemic transformed much of their city. As New Yorkers and Californians faced lockdown orders and restrictions, many flocked to Florida, with the largest increase of New Yorkers moving to Miami where they could benefit from tax and mandate breaks while working remotely. But along with having the largest net population gain of any state in the country came exploding living and housing costs. Housing prices have risen almost 50%, according to the UBS Global Real Estate Bubble Index released last month.

Grocery prices shot up. (An average household spent about $327 per trip). So did electric bills. A carton of eggs last year cost $5.

327 dollars used to be a lot of money.

Now it will just buy you one cart of food.

I warned my readers that the economic conditions that we were witnessing in Venezuela would eventually come here, and now it has happened.

As I discussed a few days ago, core consumer prices have actually risen for 53 months in a row.

Our cost of living crisis is out of control, and there is no end in sight.

As they struggle to pay their bills, many Americans are turning to credit cards for some relief.

As a result, credit card debt balances have soared to record high levels

The average American household credit card balance as of the third quarter of 2024 was about $10,757 after adjusting for inflation, according to a new study.

The personal-finance website WalletHub onFriday released its new Credit Card Debt Study, which found that consumers added $21 billion in debt during the third quarter of 2024.

Early results for the fourth quarter of the year show preliminary data for October at a new record high for credit card debt in the month, in absolute terms.

As credit card debt levels rose, it was inevitable that more Americans would start getting behind on their payments, and that is precisely what has happened

Are you feeling financially stressed as 2024 comes to a close? You’re not alone, not even close. In fact, 7.8 million Americans have delayed payments on at least one of their credit accounts this year. That’s a million more than in 2023.

This is really bad news for the economy as a whole, because our economy is highly dependent on consumer spending.

You can’t get blood from a stone, and restaurants all over the country are learning the hard way that most consumers simply cannot afford to eat out as regularly as they once did…

Seafood giant Red Lobster, Italian chain Buca di Beppo, fish taco eatery Rubio’s Coastal Grill and the owner of burger and pizza chains BurgerFi and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza are among those that have sought to reorganize through bankruptcy this year. Hooters of America is also huddling with lenders and advisers amid revenue declines, Bloomberg reported.

Shares of Dine Brands Global Inc., the parent of Applebee’s and IHOP, are down about 30% year-to-date, while shares of Bloomin’ Brands Inc., which owns Outback Steakhouse, dropped to near 2020 lows last month after it reported a decline in US same-store sales.

Yes, a “restaurant apocalypse” has begun.

When I first started using that term, a lot of people thought that I was exaggerating.

But of course I was not exaggerating one bit.

There was a time when it seemed like just about anyone in this nation could achieve “the American Dream” if they just worked hard enough.

But now we have reached a point where only 31 percent of Americans believe that they have “made it” in life…

Despite being the land of opportunity, the American Dream remains frustratingly out of reach for most Americans, with a mere 31% believing they’ve financially “made it” in life.

Sadly, that figure is even lower for Baby Boomers

However, the picture becomes less optimistic with age. Only 27% of baby boomers feel they’ve reached financial success, and among those who haven’t, just one-third believe they ever will. The survey found that Americans consider their path to financial success threatened by various external factors, including presidential elections (46%), interest rate changes (45%), and the job market (42%).

After working so hard for so many years, only 27 percent of Baby Boomers feel like they have “made it” in life.

    Well, that is quite depressing.

Things could have turned out far differently.  Many of us ranted and raved for years that things would turn out this way, but most of the country did not want to listen.

Bad decisions lead to bad results.

Our leaders have been making comically bad decisions for decades, and thanks to them we now have a complete and utter nightmare on our hands.
