Is the global dominance of the U.S. dollar in danger?  In recent weeks, there has been lots of speculation about the introduction of a new BRICS currency that would be backed by gold.  In this article, my goal is to sort through what is true and what is not true.  From August 22nd to August 24th, the 15th BRICS summit will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.  Back on July 5th, RT sparked a firestorm of rumors when it reported that a decision to introduce a new BRICS currency that would be backed by gold would be made prior to the upcoming summit in Johannesburg…

BRICS is set to introduce a new currency backed by gold, in contrast to the credit-backed US dollar, with the decision coming a month ahead of the bloc’s summit in Johannesburg. With the growing initiative, more and more countries are lining-up to join the group.

In the aftermath of that report, many prominent voices were warning that the U.S. dollar was in big trouble.

For example, author Robert Kiyosaki boldly declared that the U.S. dollar “will die”…

The end of the U.S. dollar is near, said the best-selling author of ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ Robert Kiyosaki, citing an upcoming BRICS summit in South Africa as a trigger.

Kiyosaki is projecting that the BRICS group, comprised of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, will announce their new gold-backed digital currency during its summit on August 22-24, and it will have dire consequences for the U.S. dollar.

“August 22, 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, BRICS nations announce gold backed crypto. US $ will die,” Kiyosaki tweeted last week. “Trillions of US $ rush home. Inflation through the roof.”

Without a doubt, the dominance of the U.S. dollar is under threat from multiple directions.

But a new BRICS currency will not be introduced during this upcoming summit.

During an interview with Bloomberg, one of the top executives at The New Development Bank publicly admitted that the creation of a new BRICS currency is “a medium to long term ambition”, but he also confirmed that such a currency will not be introduced right now…

The New Development Bank, a financial institution created by the BRICS bloc of emerging markets, doesn’t have any immediate plans for the group to create a common currency, its vice president and chief financial officer said.

While the members of BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – are pushing to conduct more trade between each other in local currencies, they aren’t ready to challenge the global dominance of the dollar, Leslie Maasdorp said in an interview on Wednesday with Bloomberg TV’s Haslinda Amin.

“The development of anything alternative is more a medium to long term ambition,” he said. “There is no suggestion right now to creates a BRICS currency.”

But that doesn’t mean that really big things aren’t happening.

In addition to the core BRICS nations, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and Uruguay are apparently getting very close to joining The New Development Bank.

Those are relatively minor players on the global scene, but if Saudi Arabia also joins, that could change everything.

There is lots of chatter that this could happen soon, and during a recent interview Lobo Tiggre said that such a move would be “a watershed event”…

Saudi Arabia joining BRICS would be “a watershed event,” he said. “I think if we wake up and Saudi Arabia joins the BRICS alliance, the world would be a different world in a meaningful and significant way.”

I agree.

If Saudi Arabia joins BRICS, it would represent an enormous shift.

And that would probably greatly accelerate the transition to trading Middle Eastern oil in currencies other than the U.S. dollar.

Even without a new currency, it appears to be inevitable that BRICS is going to continue to accumulate more power and more influence.

According to South Africa’s ambassador to BRICS, over 40 different nations “have indicated an interest in joining the bloc”…

Anil Sooklal, South Africa’s ambassador to BRICS, told reporters on Thursday that more than 40 countries have indicated an interest in joining the bloc of major developing economies, but there is no gold-backed currency announcement planned for next month’s summit.

And Sooklal also told reporters that a whopping 69 global leaders have been invited to attend the BRICS summit next month…

Sooklal said that “Argentina, all the major Global South countries,” have applied for membership, and that other economically significant countries have expressed an interest in joining, including Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Saudi Arabia, and even some European countries. “They are quite weighty countries,” he said.

He added that South Africa has invited 69 global leaders to attend the BRICS summit, demonstrating the bloc’s interest in increasing its global influence.

When BRICS was formed in 2009, many western leaders didn’t take it very seriously.

But now it has become a powerhouse.

And during this upcoming summit, finding more ways for BRICS countries to settle trades “in their own national currencies” is something that will be on the agenda…

Sooklal says BRICS, which is made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is looking to strengthen economic ties among member nations by settling trades in their own national currencies.

“What we have said and we continue to deepen is trading in local currencies and settlement in local currencies.”

Sooklal adds that the decision of the US and its allies to impose financial and economic sanctions against Russia for the war in Ukraine has catalyzed the move of the economic bloc to shift away from the dollar.

They really do intend to move away from using the U.S. dollar.

This is a process that will take time, but the dominance of the U.S. dollar in global trade is definitely starting to erode.

So whether the BRICS countries choose to establish a new currency or not, the truth is that things are changing.

The U.S. dollar will never again be as dominant as it once was, and great economic chaos is ahead of us.

Gone are the days of digging a well and using a bucket and rope to scoop up the water.

Depending on the depth of your well, there are several types of water well hand pumps to choose from.

1. Suction

These are for rural farms or homesteads where you need to access water from a well where no power is available.

They are low-cost pumps for shallow wells with a lift capacity of around 20 feet.

You need to work at a steady pace to get (and keep) the water flow going.

2. Piston

This type of emergency non-electric well pump works for slightly deeper water levels.

These wells are over 25 feet deep and use a piston to displace the water upward.

You draw water up and trap it above a valve check valve.

How To Size An Emergency Well Pump

Before shopping, you must figure out the proper size.

That means you have to determine your static water level first.

This is the distance from the top of the well at ground level down to the top of the water level in the well.

You have crushed rock of all sizes, from gravel to sand.

Where the water level starts, you’ll find saturated crushed rock.

And this is where your well is dug past to access the water.

Often your electric pump will sit at the bottom.

So you only need to reach around 10 feet below the water level to successfully operate.

Perform a depth test with a weighted line.

Use a non-lead weight and a bobber so it will reach the water.

Once the bobber floats on the water, take up the slack and mark the line.

Then you can pull it back up and measure the distance to get your depth.

The depth of the water level will determine the right type for you.

How To Install A Hand Well Pump

Installation of these devices can range from fairly easy to complex.

Of course, follow ALL the instructions that come with any new well-hand pump kit.

You will have a flexible plastic hose or a semi-rigid PVC pipe, depending on the design.

You’ll feed either of these down your existing or new well.

Feed it in slowly, so you don’t damage any electrical wiring from the existing pump or the pump itself.

Usually, existing wells will have an electric pump sitting on the bottom of the dug well.

The new one will be submerged around 10 feet past the static waterline.

With the piping in place, you can secure the pump mechanism at the top and attach all components.

DIY Deep Well Pump

If you don’t want to spend money, you can always attempt to make your own.

You will need some basic tools and equipment, but if you are handy, it will work.

You can put together your own with PVC pipe from your local building store.

Make sure to buy the right length for your deep well depth.

Start by constructing the foot valve assembly.

This will let water into the pipe cylinder without letting it back out.

Next, you build the plunger mechanics to seal the cylinder and create suction.

It also has a second valve to force water into the upper pipe.

First, determine the length of pipe required to go beyond the static water level.

Then you can assemble and put the piping down the well.

Build the head assembly and attach it to the piping, so water flows out of a spout with a lever arm and handle.

It is a fairly straightforward installation.

But you can get help online to construct each component properly.

Most people that live in the western world don’t realize that global hunger has been absolutely exploding and has now become a major worldwide issue.  According to the UN, 2.4 billion people do not have enough food to eat on a consistent basis, and 900 million of them are facing severe food insecurity.  Unfortunately, things are about to get a whole lot worse.  The deal between Russia and Ukraine that had allowed so much grain to be shipped through the Black Sea has completely broken down, and now both sides are threatening to attack any transport ships that come through the area.

When the war between Russia and Ukraine began, wheat prices quickly soared to the highest level that we have ever seen.

But then a miracle happened.  A deal that was agreed to in July 2022 allowed vast amounts of grain to be safely transported through the Black Sea.

Since it was implemented, nearly 34 million tons of grain has been shipped out to the rest of the world.

But now the deal is over.  On July 17th, the Russians announced that they were pulling out, and then on Thursday they warned that any ships sailing to Ukrainian ports “will be regarded as potential carriers of military cargo”…

On Thursday, Moscow’s defense ministry declared that “all vessels sailing in the waters of the Black Sea to Ukrainian ports will be regarded as potential carriers of military cargo,” a warning that has sent wheat prices rising.

“Accordingly, the countries of such vessels will be considered to be involved in the Ukrainian conflict on the side Kyiv, the defense ministry said in a Wednesday statement. It added that several pockets of international water are “declared temporarily dangerous for navigation,” and vessels have been warned that there are no longer safety guarantees.

Needless to say, the Russians are not bluffing.

They mean it when they say that the shipping of Ukrainian grain is done, and they have already conducted military strikes against key port facilities in southern Ukraine…

Russian forces have launched extensive missile and drone attacks against port and grain infrastructure in southern Ukraine in recent days.

The Institute for the Study of War, a U.S.-based think tank, said Wednesday that it believes the recent attacks were likely to reaffirm Russia’s objections to the renewal of the Black Sea grain deal and hinder Kyiv’s ability to export agricultural commodities.

Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry said Wednesday that recent attacks on Ukraine’s southern port of Odesa and other cities had destroyed 60,000 tons of grain as well as crucial infrastructure.

Ukraine is one of the most important breadbaskets on the entire planet, and normally the Ukrainians export grain to dozens of different nations.

On the other side, the Ukrainians have decided to make similar threats.  From now on, any ships that are heading for ports controlled by Russia will be fair game…

Ukraine, however, went on to issue its own measures in response to Moscow’s initial escalation. Kyiv’s defense ministry said that beginning on Friday, any vessels heading to ports in mainland Russia and in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine — like in Crimea or along the Sea of Azov — may likewise be viewed as transporters of military cargo.

Russia normally accounts for more than 20 percent of all global wheat exports.

So this is really bad news.

Exports from both Russia and Ukraine will be substantially reduced from this point forward, and wheat prices are already soaring…

Global inflation is finally coming down, but heightened geopolitical tensions could mean that food is about to get a lot more expensive.

Wheat futures soared by nearly 9% on Wednesday and are on track to hit their highest level in three weeks as tensions in Europe rise following Russia’s surprise decision to pull out of a crucial deal allowing the export of grain from Ukraine.

Corn futures were also nearly 2% higher on Tuesday as traders feared an impending supply crunch of the staple foods.

The last time grain prices spiked like this, it was just a temporary phenomenon because the grain deal of July 2022 was the miracle that the world desperately needed.

But there isn’t going to be a miracle this time around.

So I would very much encourage you to stock up on storable wheat while prices are still relatively low.

Right now, global food production is being hit by one disaster after another.

In California, some of the most important farmland in the entire state is now underwater because Tulare Lake has filled back up for the first time in 40 years…

Tulare Lake, which refilled for the first time in 40 years after atmospheric river storms pummeled California with snow and rain, is now receding, but it will take at least a year to evaporate entirely, experts said.

“We are still going to have a Tulare Lake next year,” said Jeffrey Mount, a senior fellow at the Water Policy Center of the Public Policy Institute of California.

The sudden reappearance of the lake, which was drained for farmland in the late 1800s, has caused hundreds of millions of dollars in agricultural losses and will require a substantial cleanup effort once the water has gone, as flooded farm buildings, vehicles, homes and electrical infrastructure still lurk within its waters.

California is the most important agricultural state in the entire country.

They grow more of our fruits and nuts than anyone else by a very wide margin, but now all of the flooding that has occurred is going to hamper production for quite some time to come.

You may have noticed that I write about this new global food crisis quite a bit.

Most people don’t realize this yet, but it is going to become such a huge story in the years ahead.

No matter what decisions our leaders make now, there will be global famine.

There are multiple long-term trends that are going to make it increasingly difficult to produce enough food, and meanwhile global demand for food just continues to increase.

Our leaders know this, and they will even talk about these things when they gather for conferences, but they don’t want to alarm the general public.

We are transitioning from an era of plenty to an era of great suffering, but most people in the general population still have absolutely no idea what is coming.

Do you believe in God?  If so, you belong to a portion of the population that is steadily shrinking.  Yes, a majority of Americans still think that God exists, but the trend is clearly going in one direction.  So are we headed down the same road that so many post-Christian nations in western Europe have already gone down?  According to a shocking new survey that Gallup has just released, the percentage of Americans that believe in God has plunged to the lowest level that they have ever recorded…

The percentages of Americans who believe in each of five religious entities — God, angels, heaven, hell and the devil — have edged downward by three to five percentage points since 2016. Still, majorities believe in each, ranging from a high of 74% believing in God to lows of 59% for hell and 58% for the devil. About two-thirds each believe in angels (69%) and heaven (67%).

74 percent may sound high, but it is important to note that this includes anyone that may believe that any sort of a “god” exists.

So this figure would include people from many different religions.

Overall, the percentage of Americans that believe in God has fallen by a whopping 16 points just since 2001…

Gallup has used this framework to measure belief in these spiritual entities five times since 2001, and the May 1-24, 2023, poll finds that each is at its lowest point. Compared with 2001, belief in God and heaven is down the most (16 points each), while belief in hell has fallen 12 points, and the devil and angels are down 10 points each.

Church attendance has been steadily declining over the years as well.

In fact, a different Gallup survey discovered that church attendance is down by about 10 percentage points since 2012…

U.S. church attendance has shown a small but noticeable decline compared with what it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. In the four years before the pandemic, 2016 through 2019, an average of 34% of U.S. adults said they had attended church, synagogue, mosque or temple in the past seven days. From 2020 to the present, the average has been 30%, including a 31% reading in a May 1-24 survey.

The recent church attendance levels are about 10 percentage points lower than what Gallup measured in 2012 and most prior years.

The American people are increasingly losing faith in organized religion, and it certainly doesn’t help that almost every day there is a story in the news about some member of the clergy that has committed some sort of horrible crime.  For example, just today I came across a story about an “executive pastor” that stole $130,000 from his own church…

A New Hampshire executive pastor has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing around $130,000 from his church to pay off gambling debts and make purchases.

Gregory Neal, of Barrington, 45, was sentenced in federal court Wednesday and ordered to pay back the Journey Baptist Church and the insurance company that covered a portion of the losses.

Sadly, many Americans are also losing faith in the traditional Christian values that this nation was founded upon.

According to one recent poll, approximately two out of every five young adults in the U.S. believe that marriage is “an outdated tradition”…

Are there wedding bells in your future? If you’re young and in love, the answer is — probably not! A new survey finds that two in five young adults think marriage is an outdated tradition. Moreover, a staggering 85 percent don’t think you need to get married to have a fulfilling and committed relationship.

Interestingly, the poll, commissioned by the Thriving Center Of Psychology, found that more women (52%) than men (41%) have this view of marriage. So much for saying yes to the dress!

Our society is not going to survive if we keep going down this path.

Meanwhile, the numbers for those on the other side of the battle for our culture just keep improving.

A very high percentage of our national leaders have graduated from Ivy League schools, and the demographics at those schools clearly demonstrate where America is heading.

At Yale, 29 percent of the current study body identifies as LGBTQ+…

According to Yale Daily News, around 29% of its responding student body identified as something other than straight, as the school boasted that it “welcomed the largest and most diverse class in University history.”

More specifically, 14% said they were bisexual, 6% gay/lesbian, 8% “questioning,” and 1% asexual.

At Harvard, that figure has risen to 21 percent and it is set to go even higher…

Over at Harvard, the 2023 class had about a 21% non-straight population, according to the Harvard Crimson. But the school is ready to outdo itself, as the class of 2025 will increase that number to 29%. That rate is a more than 18% increase from the class of 2017, which was represented by an 89.9% straight student body.

We are rapidly becoming the polar opposite of the society that our founders once established.

If our country ever needed a “great awakening” it is now.

Because the clock is definitely ticking.

Many Americans live their lives as if there will never be any consequences, but the truth is that none of us know what day will be our last.

In recent years, so many people that I deeply cared about have suddenly passed away.

And it is just a matter of time before our entire society experiences a sudden shock that will literally change everything in a single moment.

Earlier this week, I was alarmed to read that NASA did not even know about a large asteroid that almost hit our planet until it had already gone past us…

An asteroid called 2023 NT1 reached as close as around 62,000 miles from Earth – about a quarter the distance between Earth and the moon – on July 13.

But it wasn’t until two days after its close approach that NASA scientists detected it, because it was coming from the direction of the sun and was obscured by light.

2023 NT1, which is now moving away from Earth at a speed of about 25,000 miles per hour, is up to 200 feet in diameter – bigger than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Did you hear about this in the news?

Most people did not.

This particular asteroid was not big enough to kill millions of people, but scientists tell us that it is just a matter of time before such a giant space rock does come along.

When that day arrives, what will you do?

Will you cry out to God?

Why You Should Invest In One

The easy answer is to stop bullets.

School shootings, and mass shootings, are the primary concern here.

And in today’s modern world, shootings are more frequent – especially in “gun-free zones.”

Unfortunately, “gun-free zones” attract mass shooters.

Why? Because these locations have a limited ability to put up any immediate resistance.

If an area is deemed a “gun-free zone,” a shooter assumes they’ll be the only person nearby with a gun.

At least until law enforcement arrives (but that can often take several minutes or longer).

So kids become sitting ducks to such horrendous acts of senseless violence.

Some gun enthusiasts recently renamed “gun-free zone” to “start shooting here zones.”

That’s why you must equip yourself (or your kids) with some bulletproof protection.

AND – IF such a backpack pays off…

It will be the BEST investment you could make.

And it’s not even close.

It could save your life or the life of a loved one.

How much would you pay to protect a loved one during an active shooter situation?

I know I’d give up ALL my wealth to save my kiddos.

My guess is you’d do the same.

So what’re a few hundred dollars compared to that?

Do They Really Work? How?

Yes, they do work (to a point).

However, how well they work depends on several factors.

Factors include the type of firearm used, the caliber of the ammo, and the type of plate inserted.

But in general, most backpack plates will protect against most handgun calibers.

A few backpack plates can even protect against high-powered rifles.

Great! But why not all plates?

Because the plates that can stop a high-powered rifle are usually too heavy for most people to carry.

These thicker armor plates are upwards of 10+ lbs.

And that’s a weight you must carry before adding any textbooks or survival gear to a backpack.

So there is a tradeoff between the protection you get and how much weight you must carry.

How Bulletproof Backpacks Are Used

Now let’s talk about HOW armored backpacks work in a real-world situation.

Most people assume they will prevent a surprise shot from behind. But this scenario is unlikely…

For a shot to be a surprise, you’d need to be an active shooter’s first target.

Possible? Yes. Likely? I have my doubts.

Why? Because I think it’s more likely the person wearing the backpack will hear a few shots before they become a target.

And the first reaction is to flee from the sounds of gunfire to escape the danger.

OR if you become scared, your next instinct is to hunker down.

If escape is possible, wearing a bulletproof backpack provides some layer of protection.

If an active shooter sees a fleeing target, they may unload a few rounds in that direction.

But this added protection comes with a high cost.

Heavy bulletproof backpacks will slow down your escape.

Everyone knows you cannot run as fast or be as agile while wearing a heavy backpack.

So wearing a backpack, as opposed to not wearing one, could make you a more attractive target (slower) for a shooter.

Which is correct? To ditch the backpack or leave it one?

It’s a tough one…

That’s why an armored backpack is more useful in a “hunker down” situation.

When cornered by a shooter, our natural reaction is to get small and hide behind something (a desk, a table, etc.)

You could take it off and use it as a bulletproof shield.

The shooter hopes to unload the rounds into the backpack and move on.

Hopefully, the panel stops the bullets from penetrating, saving the life of the one behind it.

Either way, carrying a bulletproof backpack gives you some added protection.

More security and options than NOT having one – that’s for sure!

And while it’s far from “perfect,” it’s way better than having nothing.

Best Bulletproof Backpack Features To Look For

First off, the backpack should be of high quality.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a survival backpack, office backpack, bug-out bag, tactical backpack, or school backpack.

In general, you want your backpack to have the following key features:

High-Quality Fabrics

There are many different fabrics a backpack manufacturer could choose from.

For example:

There are cotton, nylon, polyester, and even unique blends.

And fabrics have comparison metrics such as stretch, abrasion resistance, tear resistance, etc.

So you’ll want to choose a backpack that won’t rip or tear easily.

You’ll want one that can withstand the daily toils of use (whether at school, work, or outdoors).

Strategic Use Of Double Stitching

Backpacks are designed to carry loads on your back.

And backpacks are not made from a single piece of fabric.

Backpacks are stitched together using separate swaths of fabric.

These stitches are always the weakest point on a backpack.

We’ve all seen packs where seams have popped.

That happens when the load on the joint/seam exceeds what the stitching can handle.

A bulletproof backpack must have DOUBLE STITCHING at the high load points.

High load points are where the back and shoulder straps or the haul handle meet the pack.

Why not just use double stitching everywhere?

Because that requires more materials and more time than necessary.

This strategy makes such a backpack unnecessarily more expensive.

So look for quality double stitching at the high load points.

Lots Of Compartments (for better organization)

I prefer my backpacks to have lots of separate compartments.

This separation helps stay organized.

I can keep any books, survival gear, or spare clothes in their own compartments.

I also prefer a special compartment near the top of my backpack for a pair of sunglasses.

The total number of compartments is a personal preference.

But I highly recommend staying away from cheaper single-compartment backpacks.

These packs leave you without organization options, and all your stuff is jumbled.

No Thanks.

Quality Zippers And Zipper Tabs

The zippers and zipper tabs are an often overlooked aspect of a quality backpack.

And it’s a shame.

Because if the zippers fail, the entire pack becomes completely worthless.

So look for thick chunky zippers.

Zippers that can take abuse and are not prone to separation issues under intense weight.

Quality Armor Plates (not too thick or too thin)

There are lots of armor plates on the market today.

I wrote an entire post on plate carriers, and I went into some details about different armor plates.

But generally, the thicker the plates, the more protection they offer.

But, the trade-off is the thicker the plate, the heavier it becomes.

So you’ll want to settle on armor plates strong enough to stop the penetration of all common calibers.

Yet, still, keep the weight of the armor plates in a reasonable range.

Now, this extra weight depends on the age and health of the person who intends to carry the backpack.

For example, little kids can only take so much weight.

So it’s a delicate balance between protection and weight. It’s a tradeoff you’ll have to decide for yourself.

Final Thoughts

Do you (or your kids) plan to wear a backpack to work or school ANYWAY?

Then why wouldn’t you upgrade that tool to make it better?

Why not add an extra layer of protection – just in case?

To me, it’s a no-brainer.

Bullet proof backpacks give you an extra layer of safety with minimal sacrifice.

It’s taking a tool you already use and turning it into a legit defense mechanism.

The risk/reward analysis says – you risk a few dollars and ounces in weight to save a life.

That’s why this is NOT a hard decision – do it now.

How many people will be sleeping in homeless shelters, on the streets or in their vehicles where you live tonight?  That is the sort of question that not a lot of us like to think about.  But the truth is that homelessness is growing at a very rapid pace all over the country right now.  But if you have lots of money, life probably seems pretty good to you at the moment.  You may eat at a different restaurant every night, and you may be one of the approximately 10 million Americans that currently own a second home.  Our leaders made the wealthy even wealthier by pumping trillions of dollars into the system in recent years, but as the cost of living has soared the poor have gotten even poorer and the middle class has steadily disintegrated.  So now the gap between the wealthy and the rest of the nation is larger than ever, and that is creating a tremendous amount of tension in our society.

In California, vast hordes of homeless people sleep in the shadows of multi-million dollar homes every single night.

And even though California has spent a whopping 17.5 billion dollars on homelessness during the last four years, the homeless population in the state has just continued to grow…

California has spent a stunning $17.5 billion trying to combat homelessness over just four years. But, in the same time frame, from 2018 to 2022, the state’s homeless population actually grew. Half of all Americans living outside on the streets, federal data shows, live in California.

Across the country, homelessness is on the rise. But California is adding more homeless people every year than any other state. More than 170,000 unhoused people now live here.

Just think about that number for a moment.

There are 170,000 homeless people in just one state.

And those are the ones that they can actually count.  They are many more that haven’t been found yet or that don’t want to be counted.

We have also just learned that family homelessness in the United States is surging…

Family homelessness in the US is on the rise in an alarming sign of how the increasing cost of goods, the ever-tightening housing supply and the end of most pandemic-era benefits are putting pressure on Americans.

Some 72,700 people in families with children were experiencing homelessness in 20 of the largest cities in the nation as of January, a 37.6% jump from a year before, according to an analysis of data provided by jurisdictions. In New York, that figure shot up by two thirds, while Chicago, the District of Columbia and Fort Worth, Texas, also saw outsize increases.

I thought that Joe Biden was “fixing” the economy.

So why has that number gone up by 37.6 percent in just one year?

Something is not adding up.

A 28-year-old single mother in Washington D.C. named Mercedez Millings doesn’t have a home for herself and her four children.  Since she is so close to the White House, perhaps Biden and his family would be willing to take her in…

Among those homeless in the nation’s capital is Mercedez Millings, a 28-year-old single mother of four. She delivered packages and worked at a pizza shop during the pandemic, but experienced homelessness during that time and bounced between living in her car and staying with family.

She and her children have been living in a Salvation Army transitional housing program with some 25 other families for most of this year — and Millings is taking personal finance and workforce development classes. But one big obstacle is stopping her from getting a job: She gave birth to her youngest at her mother’s home during the pandemic and never received an official birth certificate. Without it, she’s unable to sign her daughter up for child care.

There are countless others just like her.

They would love to have homes, but housing costs have simply become way too high.

As I mentioned yesterday, an unused space next to a laundry room that has been converted into an “apartment” in one building in New York City will run you $2,300 a month.

And actually purchasing a home is now out of reach for tens of millions of Americans.

The Fed has made certain of that by hiking interest rates so dramatically.

Earlier today, I came across a tweet that shared some mortgage math that is just stunning…

New mortgage math is brutal.

Say you buy a $1m house with $200k down at a 7% rate ($800k mortgage).

Over the first three years you pay $193k ($5,322/mo.)

After those $193k of payments your $800k mortgage is now at $774.5k.

You paid $166k in interest, $25.5k in principle.

Ouch.

Of course housing costs are not the only thing that is going up.

According to Zero Hedge, auto insurance rates are going up by double digit percentages all over the nation…

The Wall Street Journal found Allstate has jacked up car insurance premiums by 40% in Georgia, Nationwide Mutual Insurance has increased insurance rates by 32% in California, and State Farm has bumped rates in New York by 11%. The reason is that many of these insurers have experienced significant losses over the last several years, an indication premiums will continue to rise well into 2024.

If you are still making the same amount of money that you did two or three years ago, you are rapidly falling behind.

The cost of living is not going to slow down for any of us, and if you can’t keep up that is too bad for you.

In such an environment, many middle class Americans find themselves falling into poverty, and many poor Americans are finding themselves out in the streets.

All over America, giant homeless encampments are sprouting like mushrooms.  Here is just one example…

One of California’s famous wine regions has a government-sanctioned homeless encampment set up near the local courthouse, Fox News Digital has learned.

Photos taken on Sonoma County’s administrative campus in Santa Rosa show blue tents lining a parking lot where up to 100 homeless individuals can live. Leaders in Sonoma County, located in northern California’s famed wine region, approved the taxpayer-funded homeless camp this year after a “shelter crisis” declaration. The administrative complex is home to various offices such as Sonoma County Human Resources, the county registrar, Superior Court of California and district attorney’s office.

If you still have plenty of money, you may not care what is happening to everyone else.

For now, those with lots of cash are living the high life.

But that won’t last for long.

A day of reckoning is coming for the wealthy, and they will deeply mourn as their tremendous wealth is wiped out.

During the early stages of this economic crisis, it will be the poor that are hit particularly hard, but great pain is eventually coming for those at the top of the food chain too.
