If half of the firms in the entire country really do cut jobs over the next year, what will our economy look like afterwards?  All over America, companies are anticipating that a major economic downturn is coming in 2023, and a lot of them are already planning to shed workers in order to cut costs.  Of course this sounds so much like what we went through back in 2008 and 2009.  Millions of Americans lost their jobs during the “Great Recession”, and it was truly a very dark time in our history.  So are we right on the verge of seeing a repeat?

Let hope that isn’t the case.

Unfortunately, a brand new survey that was just released has discovered that 50 percent of all U.S. companies plan to eliminate jobs within the next 12 months.  The following comes from CNBC…

Meanwhile, 50% of firms are anticipating a reduction in overall headcount, while 52% foresee instituting a hiring freeze and 44% rescinding job offers, according to a PwC survey of 722 U.S. executives fielded in early August.

These are executives’ expectations for the next six months to a year, and therefore may evolve, according to Bhushan Sethi, co-head of PwC’s global people and organization group.

Can those numbers be accurate?

I knew that things were bad because I write about this stuff on a daily basis.

But I didn’t think that half of the firms in the entire nation were already looking to cut workers.

Wow.

At this moment, I am at a loss for words.

It’s going to get bad out there.  If you have a good job right now, try to do whatever you can to hold on to it.

Sadly, some of the biggest names in the corporate world have already started to lay off workers.  For example, Ford Motor just announced that it will be laying off “roughly 3,000 white-collar and contract employees”…

Ford Motor confirmed Monday it is laying off roughly 3,000 white-collar and contract employees, marking the latest in its efforts to slash costs as it makes a longer-range transition to electric vehicles. Ford sent an internal email Monday to employees, saying it would begin notifying affected salaried and agency workers this week of the cuts. The email was viewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Wayfair has also decided that now is the time for mass layoffs…

Home goods company Wayfair decided to cut approximately 870 workers to help manage operation costs and “realign its investment priorities” following the coronavirus pandemic, the Associated Press (AP) reported this week.

I thought that Wayfair was doing quite well.

I guess not.

In a desperate attempt to stay afloat, Peloton has also chosen to lay off “hundreds of workers”…

Seeking to cut costs and end a flood of red ink, Peloton is planning to raise prices on key products, shutter stores and lay off hundreds of workers, according to a memo from CEO Barry McCarthy.

And even Groupon is getting in on the act.  500 of their workers will now be updating their resumes…

Chicago-based Groupon today laid off more than 500 of its employees — 15% of its 3,416-person headcount — according to posts from former employees on social media. The reduction impacted workers in teams including merchant development, sales, recruiting, engineering, product and marketing.

Other big names that have announced layoffs in recent weeks include Best Buy, HBO Max, Shopify, Re/Max and Walmart.

Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

As this new economic downturn deepens, countless more Americans will lose their jobs.

And as that happens, all of a sudden there will be vast numbers of people that can’t pay their mortgages or make their rent payments, and that will make our new housing crash even worse.

We are now very clearly past the peak of the housing bubble, and the ride down is going to be really painful.

Last year at this time, the housing market in California was extremely hot, but now the numbers are definitely heading in the other direction…

Sales volume of single-family houses (SFH) in California plunged by 14% in July from June, seasonally adjusted, and by 31% from a year ago, the 13th month in a row of year-over-year declines, according to the California Association of Realtors.

Sales volume of condos plunged by 18% in July from June, and by 36% from a year ago.

Prices eventually follow volume: The median price of single-family houses dropped 3.5% in July from June, down for the second month in a row, slashing the year-over-year gain to just 2.8%.

If you are trying to sell a house right now, I would encourage you to try to get that done as quickly as possible before prices fall precipitously.

Speaking of declines, the Dow was down another 643 points on Monday…

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell sharply Monday, in its worst day since June, as the summer rally fizzled out and fears of aggressive interest rate hikes returned to Wall Street.

The Dow fell 643.13 points, or 1.91%, to 33,063.61. The S&P 500 dropped 2.14% to 4,137.99, and the Nasdaq Composite tumbled 2.55% to 12,381.57, respectively. It was the worst day of trading since June 16 for the Dow and the S&P 500.

I think that a lot of people want to get out of the market before the summer ends.

Needless to say, there are many out there that are anticipating that the last few months of this year will not be kind to the financial markets.

On September 29th, 2008 the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 777 points.  That was a brand new record at that time, and it was a spark that set off mass panic on Wall Street.

Could we see something similar once summer is over?

Only time will tell.

But what we do know is that the U.S. economy is really starting to implode, and the stage is being set for the sort of historic economic meltdown that I have portrayed in my books.

At this point, everyone should be able to see that really hard times are on the horizon.

Those that are prudent will do what they can to get prepared in advance.

Why are we seeing so many unusual outbreaks of disease in 2022?  Coming into this year, there was just one major outbreak that everyone was talking about.  But then 2022 came along, and all of a sudden it seemed like there was a new disease in the news every month.  First, an eruption of the bird flu spread like wildfire and that resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of our chickens and turkeys.  Then monkeypox took the world by storm.  It has spread to nearly 100 different countries, and it is now the worst monkeypox outbreak in history by a very wide margin.  And now more weird diseases are popping up.  Earlier this month, I wrote an article about the appearance of “Langya henipavirus” in China and the case of polio that was just detected in New York, and in this article I will be telling you about even more strange outbreaks that are deeply alarming global authorities.

For example, a very mysterious virus that is being called “the tomato flu” has started to spread in India…

Doctors in India have sounded the alarm over a new virus dubbed ‘tomato flu’ that has infected dozens of children.

The infection was spotted in May in the southern state of Kerala and it is feared to be a new variant of hand, foot, and mouth disease.

There are a couple of things about this that caught my attention right away.

First of all, I think that it is very noteworthy that this has happened in India.  There are more than a billion people in that nation, and many of them live in extremely overcrowded urban areas.

Secondly, this is yet another disease that causes sores on the skin.  In fact, the sores can actually grow until they are “the size of a tomato”…

The infection gained its name because it causes an ‘eruption’ of red painful blisters across patients’ bodies that ‘gradually enlarge to the size of a tomato’.

Most patients also suffer high fever and intense joint pain, but fatigue, sickness and diarrhoea have also been reported.

Could you imagine having sores that grow to be the size of tomatoes all over your body?

I get grossed out just thinking about that.

We are being told that this disease appears to be “very contagious”, and at this point there is no known cure…

There is currently no test or treatment for the virus.

Medics say all patients should be isolated for five to seven days from symptom onset and told to rest, drink plenty of fluids and take paracetamol.

Right now, authorities have no idea where this disease came from or why it has suddenly erupted.

And that should deeply concern all of us.

Meanwhile, three people have already died in Tanzania from an outbreak of a disease known as “leptospirosis”…

A deadly outbreak of an unknown disease in Tanzania has been identified as leptospirosis, health officials said.

More than 20 cases, including three deaths, have been reported in the southern Lindi region, with patients exhibiting symptoms similar to Ebola or Marburg virus diseases — fever, headache, fatigue and bleeding, especially from the nose, according to health officials. Preliminary results from laboratory testing earlier this month had ruled out Ebola and Marburg viruses as well as COVID-19, making the illness a mystery — until now.

Since this particular outbreak is limited to a particular geographic area, hopefully it can be contained.

Because this is a disease that doesn’t sound fun at all.  The following information about leptospirosis comes from the CDC…

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that affects humans and animals. It is caused by bacteria of the genus Leptospira. In humans, it can cause a wide range of symptoms, some of which may be mistaken for other diseases. Some infected persons, however, may have no symptoms at all.

Without treatment, Leptospirosis can lead to kidney damage, meningitis (inflammation of the membrane around the brain and spinal cord), liver failure, respiratory distress, and even death.

Elsewhere in Africa, it appears that there is yet another outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo…

The Democratic Republic of Congo is investigating a suspected case of Ebola in its violence-wracked east, the World Health Organization said Saturday, just weeks after the end of a previous epidemic.

The DRC early last month declared its latest Ebola outbreak over, more than two months after the virus re-emerged in the northwestern Equateur province.

There were four confirmed cases and one probable case—all of whom died—in what WHO said was the country’s 14th outbreak since the disease was discovered there in 1976.

The good news is that Ebola has never spread very easily among humans.

So we have never seen a true global outbreak of the disease.

But we didn’t think that there would ever be a true global outbreak of monkeypox, and now thousands upon thousands of people are deeply suffering all over the world.

Authorities can’t seem to explain why monkeypox has changed so dramatically.

And they also can’t seem to explain why so many strange diseases have been suddenly breaking out all over the globe this year.

Even here in the United States, really weird things are happening.  For instance, we just learned that an 8-year-old boy in Nebraska was just killed by a “brain-eating amoeba”…

An 8-year-old boy has died in Nebraska after reportedly becoming infected with the brain-eating amoeba. If confirmed, this would be the first case in the state ever recorded and suggests the Naegleria fowleri is expanding further north in the U.S.

The boy, Easton Gray, was likely exposed to the amoeba when he went swimming in the Elkhorn River near Valley—a community located west of Omaha—on August 8, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

We were warned that this era in history would be a time of great pestilences, and it is happening right in front of our eyes.

And unfortunately, what we have experienced so far is just the beginning.

Every single day, mad scientists are monkeying around with the most virulent diseases ever known to humanity in secret labs all over the planet.

And in many of those cases, they are purposely trying to make those diseases even more deadly.

This monkeypox outbreak is now far worse than most of the experts originally anticipated.  The number of confirmed cases has continued to rise at an exponential rate, and many victims have experienced extreme agony for weeks after contracting the virus.  So could it be possible that monkeypox is a plague of the end times?  The Bible does tell us that “pestilences” will be one of the signs of the end times, and we have certainly seen multiple “pestilences” erupt over the past couple of years.  At first, a lot of people were dismissive of monkeypox because the corporate media made it sound like it wouldn’t be that serious.  But now we are learning the truth, and it is pretty horrifying.

As I write this article, there are now 39,791 confirmed cases around the globe.  The WHO says that the number of confirmed cases has risen another 20 percent in just the last week, and that is extremely alarming.

If the number of cases continues to double at the current rate, it won’t be too long before there are millions of victims.

One aspect of this disease that a lot of people don’t know about yet is the fact that it can leave you disfigured for life…

Silver Steele was covered in agonising blisters around his mouth that took around 20 days to worsen before getting better.

He still fears that what he initially thought was “razor burn” will now scarr his skin for life.

Silver Steele, the patient’s professional name as a porn actor, bravely used social media to share the picture to spread awareness.

Of course that isn’t the worst part of the disease.

The worst part is the pain.

Steele says that there were times that it felt like he was being repeatedly stabbed by knives…

“It hurt most when I ate. But there were times when I was literally just sitting there watching TV and all of a sudden it’s just like knives stabbing you,” he said.

“The pain was pretty intense.”

Many other victims have told us about the extreme pain that can come with this disease.

Some have described it as the worst pain that they have ever experienced in their entire lives.

Monkeypox can have some other terrifying consequences as well.  In Germany, one man actually had the skin on his nose turn black and start to die…

A monkeypox patient’s nose started to rot in one of the most shocking cases documented in the current outbreak.

The 40-year-old man, from Germany, went to his GP with a red spot on his nose which was initially dismissed as sunburn.

But within three days the skin on his nose started to die and turn black, leaving him with a painful, swollen scab.

You can see a photo of this right here, but I want to warn you that it is quite graphic.

There is still so much that we do not know about this plague.

But at this point, health experts are telling us that it is primarily being spread by men that have sex with other men.  The following comes from NBC News…

Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men.

Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself — both anal as well as oral intercourse — is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.

But that isn’t the only way that it is spreading.

There have been lots of victims that have developed monkeypox without having sex with anyone.  Here is just one example…

A man noticed his first lesion and subsequently developed a rash about two weeks after attending a “large, crowded outdoor event at which he had close contact with others, including close dancing, for a few hours,” according to researchers from Stanford University School of Medicine. He tested positive for monkeypox after seeking care at an emergency department about a week later.

The patient’s “primary risk factor was close, nonsexual contact with numerous unknown persons at a crowded outdoor event,” the researchers wrote, and the case “highlights the potential for spread at such gatherings, which may have implications for epidemic control.”

And it is being reported that at least eight children in the United States now have monkeypox…

There have been at least eight confirmed cases of monkeypox in children in the United States.

According to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, the eighth confirmed case of monkeypox in the United States is believed to be a child under the age of two, and this is also the first pediatric case of monkeypox reported in Texas.

The more this virus spreads, the more opportunities it is going to have to mutate.

And this will especially be true as it spreads to animals…

A family dog has tested positive for monkeypox virus in what may be the first human-to-dog transmission case ever recorded. Researchers raised the alarm after an Italian greyhound contracted the virus 12 days after its owners began to show their onset symptoms.

Two men attended Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, in Paris, France, on June 10, after developing anal ulceration six days after having sex. One man had been experiencing anal ulceration and a rash on his face, ears, and legs, while the other developed a rash just on his legs and back.

We are still only in the very early chapters of this crisis, and I have a feeling that it is going to get a whole lot worse.

So what does all of this mean?  Well, the truth is that I’m not sure.  We were specifically warned to watch for another pandemic that would involve sores on the skin, and now a global outbreak fitting that description is here.

Sadly, this is probably only just the beginning.  If we really are living in the end times, more pestilences will be coming.

I know that a lot of people out there may not be excited to hear that, but it is the truth.

For a long time, those of us that were claiming that a global famine was coming were widely mocked.  The skeptics could see the exact same trends that everyone else could see, but they just assumed that we would find a way to muddle through somehow.  So they didn’t want to listen to common sense, and they weren’t interested in warnings from “gloom and doomers” such as myself.  But I don’t consider myself to be a “doom and gloomer” because I am actually a very optimistic person.  I am so excited to be living during this time in human history, but I also know that very difficult times are ahead of us.  One of the major trends that I keep writing about over and over is famine, because the truth is that there simply is not going to be enough food for everyone on the planet in 2023 and beyond.  Of course the mainstream media is also starting to issue similar warnings.  For example, the following comes from a Yahoo News article entitled “Millions in East Africa face starvation due to drought”…

The World Health Organization warned on Wednesday that millions of people in East Africa face the threat of starvation. Speaking at a media briefing in Geneva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that drought, climate change, rising prices and an ongoing civil war in northern Ethiopia are all contributing to worsening food insecurity.

Over 50 million people in East Africa will face acute food insecurity this year, a study from late July by the World Food Programme and Food and Agriculture Organization found. Roughly 7 million children are suffering from malnourishment and, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, hundreds of thousands are leaving their homes in search of food or livelihoods. Affected countries include Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda.

In Somalia, authorities are projecting that vegetable and grain production will “drop by about 80% this year” due to the endless drought that they are currently experiencing.

Millions of precious people in Africa are facing imminent starvation.  But most of us in the western world don’t care, because our grocery stores are still full of food.

If you are one of those people that are choosing to ignore what is happening on the other side of the planet, you can afford to be cocky for now.

But conditions are starting to change here too.

Earlier today, I came across an excellent article about how the multi-year megadrought in the western half of the country is absolutely devastating the ranching industry…

The megadrought in the Western U.S., the region’s worst in 1,200 years, is threatening America’s cattle heartland: withering pastures, wrecking feed harvests and endangering a quintessential way of life.

The drought is forcing ranchers here in Texas and across the Southern plains to make an agonizing decision: Sell early now for less money than they planned on — or hold on, pray for rain and risk losing everything.

Sadly, more ranchers are deciding to sell off cattle with each passing day.

If you can believe it, the rate at which cattle are being sold is now 120 percent above last year’s level…

Over the last two weeks of July, the national cattle sale rate also jumped to 120 percent above 2021 levels — an average that reporting by The Hill and KAMR suggested conceals even higher frenzies of sales in some markets.

What this means is that lots of beef is coming on to the market.

Beef prices had been soaring, but in the short-term all of the cattle that are being slaughtered will help to moderate prices.

However, the outlook for 2023 is grim.  The national cattle herd just keeps getting smaller and smaller, and some beef producers in Oklahoma are now predicting that ground beef “could eventually top $50 per pound”…

Thanks to the unending economic symptoms of the pandemic and 2022’s inflation double-punch, average beef prices are currently about twice what they were in 2019. Add in the deepening widespread drought, a shortage of hay and feed, skyrocketing prices, transport costs, and various other metrics, some Southwest Oklahoma beef producers suggest cheap ground beef could eventually top $50 per pound.

If the price of ground beef does reach 50 dollars a pound, what do you think our country will look like?

Needless to say, at that point there will be absolutely no debate about whether we are in a global food crisis or not.

And we are also being told that we could soon be facing shortages of potatoes and tomatoes.  The following comes from Zero Hedge…

Days ago, we said the next food insecurity problem that may impact Americans’ eating habits could be an emerging potato shortage. Now there appears to be another issue: Tomatoes are getting squeezed, and risks of a ketchup shortage rise as a severe drought batter California’s farmland.

California accounts for a quarter of the world’s tomato output. The worst drought in 1,200 years has forced farmers to abandon fields as crops turn to dust amid a water crisis.

On top of everything else, we are also potentially facing an extremely painful shortage of cotton…

Intense drought has forced cotton farmers to abandon millions of acres that have produced so little cotton that they are no longer worth harvesting, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Farmers will harvest an estimated 7.13 million acres, abandoning approximately 5.35 million acres due to an ongoing drought hammering southern U.S. states, representing an estimated abandonment rate of 42.87%, according to the National Cotton Council of America, who based their analysis on U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data. This represents the smallest harvest by area since 1868, The Wall Street Journal reported.

What I have touched on in this article is just the tip of the iceberg.

Agricultural production is going to be way down all over the planet this year.

But we will surely find a way to “muddle through” somehow, right?

A group of American journalists and lawyers are suing the CIA and former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, claiming that the agency violated their constitutional rights by obtaining copies of the contents of their electronic devices and enabling their meetings with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to be recorded while he was staying at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

In the suit, which was filed in a Manhattan federal court this week, the plaintiffs are seeking punitive and compensatory damages for violating their Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure. They include New York lawyers Deborah Hrbek and Margaret Ratner Kunstler, who have represented Assange, along with journalist Charles Glass, who resides in England, and John Goetz, who lives in Germany.

They alleged that the CIA obtained the information in question via an arrangement with a private security company based in Spain known as Undercover Global that was in charge of security at the embassy. According to the filing, they were forced to surrender their electronic devices to the security company prior to their visits with Assange. Unbeknownst to the plaintiffs, the security company copied the contents of their devices while they were holding them and supplied them to the CIA. Undercover Global is named as a third defendant in the suit.

The suit also alleges that the security company placed microphones throughout the embassy and sent the recordings it captured, along with footage from security cameras, to the agency.

The lead attorney for the plaintiffs, Richard Roth, remarked: “The United States Constitution shields American citizens from U.S. government overreach even when the activities take place in a foreign embassy in a foreign country.”

More than 100 other Americans connected to Assange may have also been spied on

According to the suit, they endured significant emotional distress and anxiety because of worries about how their personal information would be used. In addition, they believe that this illegal spying could have violated the rights of more than 100 Americans who also visited Assange while he was at the embassy, including other journalists who were interviewing him, attorneys representing him, and physicians who provided medical treatment to him.

Roth added: “To make matters worse, many of the conversations were absolutely privileged and confidential in nature, in that the plaintiffs are journalists and attorneys who went there to visit their clients.”

The suit states: “Defendant Pompeo was aware of and approved the copying of information contained on plaintiffs’ mobile electronic devices and the surreptitious audio monitoring of their meetings with Assange.”

Two witnesses working for UC Global testified in a London court two years ago that Assange was subjected to a major bugging operation that started in 2017 when Donald Trump became president.

Assange was indicted on 17 charges of espionage and one charge of computer misuse by U.S. prosecutors over the publication of secret American military documents on WikiLeaks. He is facing charges that could carry a maximum sentence of 175 years. His lawyers maintain that the First Amendment protects his publication of leaked documents exposing wrongdoing by the American military in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Assange had been living in the embassy since he sought refuge there in 2012 out of fears of extradition to the U.S. In 2019, he was evicted and placed in a London prison. In June, the UK ordered Assange to be extradited to the U.S. in a ruling that his lawyers have appealed. They have also asked President Biden to drop the charges against Assange.

The CIA has declined to comment on the lawsuit. Although they are expressly forbidden from gathering intelligence on American citizens, several lawmakers have alleged that they keep a secret repository containing Americans’ communications data.

What is a Water Bath Canner

At its basic, a water bath canner is a large pot used to process high-acid foods. These include:

• Tomato Sauce
• Cranberry Sauce
• Fruit Juices
• Peaches
• Pears
• Plums

• Apple Sauce
• Salsa
• Jams
• Apple Butter
• Pickles
• Relishes
• Chutneys
• Fruit Preserves

You can even process your own water and store it in the case of SHTF.

You start by sterilizing canning jars in boiling water. And then fill them with your high-acid foods. Then you place a lid with an outer rubber seal on edge and a screw-on band that tightens the lid, making a tight seal. Next, it goes into the water bath.

A hot water bath canner preserves at temperatures hot enough to get rid of:

• mold
• yeast
• and other enzymes that cause spoilage

Then the acid in the food does the rest.

While it’s in the boiling water, the air is suctioned out. So the lid remains tightly sealed, enabling your food to be shelf stable for months to years.

Your canner water bath equipment includes:

• Large stock pot or dedicated boiling water bath canner
• Canning rack to hold the jars in place and for safe handling

 Hot Water Bath Canner vs. Pressure Canner (pros/cons)

When preserving food in jars, there are 2 standard methods—water bath vs. pressure canner.

 Water Bath Canner

A boiling water bath canner is designed to seal up food with enough heat so it will have an extended shelf life. It isn’t cooking anything, just preserving. You can process most food in around 15 minutes in the water and about an hour from filling to cool.

Only foods with high acidity can be processed in a water bath canner. The high acid provides an environment where bacteria have a hard time growing.

Pros

• It is an easy and fast process
• It costs less than a pressure canner
• No specialized equipment; just a pot of boiling water and jars

Cons

• You can only proceed with some fruit and pickled vegetables; high acidic foods
• Doesn’t work for canning meat

Pressure Canner

A pressure canner is a more robust machine that gets much hotter than a water bath canner at around 240 degrees F.

It can safely process vegetables, meats, soups, and sauces, especially lower-acidic foods. The canning is done under high pressure and takes longer for the canning procedure.

Pros

• You can process meat, vegetables, and all low acidic foods
• Allows you to raw pack because the food will cook while processing
• Is very safe when operated properly

Cons

• More expensive to buy a pressure canner with more moving parts
• It takes longer to process the food

Different Types of Water Bath Canners You Can Choose

While every hot water bath canner does the same thing, they come in different sizes and materials. And many work with varying sources of power.

Let’s check out your options:

Sizes

The standard size of a water bath canner is 21 quarts, sized to fit 7 one-quart jars. There are also smaller pots at 11.5 quarts and accommodate 7-pint jars. You can go bigger, too, with a 33-quart canner that will hold 9 parts canning jars.

In a pinch, all you need is a large stock pot. A pot deep enough to submerge your jars at least one inch and allow a rolling boil without spilling over.

You also don’t want your pot any larger than 4 inches wider than the heating element. This size limitation helps to prevent uneven processing.>

Materials

The construction of a water bath canner is usually metal, including:

• Stainless Steel Heavy-duty metal that will last a lifetime without rusting.
• Aluminum This economical metal doesn’t rust or chip.
• Porcelain Enamel Porcelain powdered glass is fused onto steel to give a durable finish. And it has the recognizable speckled granite ware look.

Power Sources

For “powering” a boiling water bath canner, you just put it on the stove and turn on the element. This setup uses a gas flame or an electric element to heat the water.

You can also get electric water bath canners that just plug in and heat their own element. This design becomes a portable counter appliance and frees up room on the stove for regular cooking. Or add it as a backup to process twice as many jars. They come pretty basically to fully functional with lots of buttons and whistles.
